Granted, there are not many tables so it can be hard to grab a seat, but I'd suggest it's worth the wait given what's in store. A few Saturdays ago, treats we're on the agenda. As I'd not been here in ages, we decided to seek out some delectable sustenance here, as that is precisely what I got my friends. I had heard tell these guys do a mean burger, and since I've been banging on about seeking out Leeds' best it seemed only fair to tackle that for lunch. Oh. My. Word. After an enticing wait the food arrived and what lay before me was some kind of demi-god, as far as patties go. A beautifully baked sesame seed bun, with all the fluffy, crispy, freshness you could hope for in a bread cake. The accoutrements included a wonderfully fresh bit of salad, perfectly melted cheddar, and a delightful home made piccalilli. The meat? Seasoned to perfection, juicier than I've known, and cooked like a dream. Slightly pink, like a real burger should be, and a right ruddy messy affair. I was in heaven. Of course, you know all about their award winning cupcakes by now, so I needn't wax lyrical about the white chocolate as raspberry nirvana that I polished off at home, but what you probably didn't know is that I've found a contender for one of Leeds' finest burgers. Try for yourself and let me know how you get on... Moar treats? Check in on Yelp and you get 25% off afternoon tea!

As soon as I heard about it I just knew I had to check it out ASAP! I have both the requisite sweet tooth and and a love of all things kitsch and vintage-inspired. Hence I LOVE The Sunshine Bakery! The outside of the shop is painted a sumptuous deep plum colour and the sign features gold, hand-painted lettering with a quaint feel. Inside the walls are covered in oh-so-vintage pink flocked wall paper...but to be honest that's not exactly what your eyes are drawn to with all the tasty treats on display! Anyone with a particular predilection for sweetmeats will be literally drooling all over the shop! The cupcakes cry 'EAT ME' with their generous helpings of many-coloured icing and array of flavours. There are also such delights as champagne truffles, as well as slightly less exciting (though very delicious I'm sure) savoury items including sandwiches and soups as well as tea and coffee. There is a lovely atmosphere at The Sunshine Bakery, with friendly, smiling staff, and the customers seeming very happy to be there and oh so close to their next cupcake fix! I also opted for Eton Mess...it was absolutely delicious! If you live in Chapel Allerton you may find yourself trying desperately to avoid the temptation to visit the Sunshine Bakery daily...luckily for my health I live a reasonably long bike ride away...however, the exercise required to get there will probably just allow me to justify a rampant gorge-fest upon arrival! YUM!

I was stunned when i walked into the restaurant. The decor is minimal, keeping the place clean and fresh. Looking at the menu i was so excited to try every single dish! Every course we ate was amazing. All of them cooked to perfection and served with the most exceptional precision - i just cannot fault anything about it. The chef, Michael O'Hare, is experimental with his dishes, but they work, so so well!!! You can read Neil C.'s review for the full detail on the dishes we ate, as i wouldn't like to repeat it, but you must must go!! If this place doesn't get a Michelin Star in September, then there is something very very wrong with their inspectors!!!

It couldn't have been more daydream, if I'm honest -- we pattered along Vicar lane, skipping in the rain, to the entrance of... Flannels, a popular menswear shop. A single bouncer guards the door, checks your name is on the list, who then guides you past the shirts and borderline-erotic imagery above the till to get to the lift. Floor number three: The Man Behind The Curtain. Disappointing lift light -- terrible for selfies. It moves slowly, like an ancient relic with cogs from, at least, the sixties. The art and ambiance is, as you might expect by now, perfectly odd and mostly minimal. We sat next to a slightly disturbing, slightly bondage painting of a woman whose eyes are blotted out by blue and lips, permanently smudged. (You are free to judge me by my descriptions of said art -- perhaps you won't see the vibe at all.) One lamp hangs so low it's merely feet from the floor. There are question marks everywhere and sculpted hands emerge from the entrance wall, all rocking out, "devil horns" style. I won't dwell long on the staff, because although each person we encountered is a whole individual with their own thoughts, dreams, and desires, every of them was equally and unfalteringly lovely, informative, and genteel -- to the point of being replicants, and I don't mean that to sound rude. Now, the food. CARTE BLANCHE 1. To allow full creative freedom 2. To showcase what we feel is right for now What they felt was right for last night, I don't think can ever be wrong. We went with the wine pairings, and I honestly don't know why you wouldn't just spend the extra £30 or so. Each drink --of course-- beautifully complemented the food. The octopus "snack" with capers, and a whole host of other umami flavours I'm not sophisticated enough to call out, was simply ridiculous. We licked the spoons. We cared not. I shan't call out every item, since brevity is already an issue, but the absolute winners of the evening had to be the practically obsidian dish of cod in squid ink --we had the brief appearance of black-toothed witches, which I assume matched well with our lady painting-- and the pork two ways, complete with edible egg shell and "charcoal". Bonus points for this: "We know that some people think you should have a red with pork and some people think you should have a white, so we give you one of each." Hooooooo, lady -- that's my jam. Yes. Everything, from the cutlery to the plates to the food itself: art. Oh, and cupcake in a single mouthful? We decided that's definitely the maximum amount of cupcake anyone ever needs -- it was perfect. No more, no less: I just want the mouthful. Warning: the feeling of loss and desolation, now, is pretty real. I'm sure I'll get back into "normal" life again, but... lunch is really going to blow. And so will dinner. And so will alcohol, even. How quickly one becomes accustomed to the finer things! *She says, staring at her sub-par, poorly made filter coffee and packet of mass produced bagels.* Worth it.
