My experience with John Lawit and his staff is the most positive experience that I have ever had with an immigration law firm. My case was vey complicated but Mr. Lawit new exactly what to do to get my green card. I consulted John Lawit for my green card application. After the initial consultation, John determined that the best route for my petition is "Outstanding Professor/Researcher". He explained that this is a very difficult category and I would have to provide all the documents he would be requesting to submit with my application. He ensured that all the bases were covered before filling the I-140 petition. Collecting documents to his satisfaction was my task. It took longer than I expected. John took the time to perfect the petition by developing a case meticulously by collecting lots of evidence documents. I understand that when someone going through this process with John, it is nerve-racking and one can become restless with John. But John will not cut corners when it comes to green card applications. As far as I understand, every immigration law firm employs support staff. We as clients get to communicate with them frequently during the initial steps of the case file preparation. Yes, this is the case with John's office too but later on he provided me with his mobile number so that I can to talk to him directly as needed. He even flew from Dallas to Albuquerque to meet me during the application preparation process. We need to understand that lawyer cannot answer all the calls by clients during the initial preparation of the case file. Initially, I worked with John's assistants to collect documents as well as to complete forms and this process was cumbersome. The delays occurred mainly due to the delay in collecting support letters and other support evidence, which were part of my responsibilities. When all these documents were ready, John fine-tuned the petition with me over the phone. He spent hours discussing my case over the phone with me to ensure that he is 100% satisfied with it. Due to all the excellent work John did before filling really paid off. My I-140 was approved within 4 months. There were no RFEs from USCIS. I-485, I-765 and I-131 were filed within a month. The biometric appointment was scheduled within a month of the filing. The I-765 and I-131 were approved within 3 months and the I-485 Interview was scheduled within 4 months of the filling. I personally believe John's tedious petition preparation process with attention to details was instrumental in getting a successful fast outcome in my petition. His work made the processing of my application by USCIS very smooth. Therefore, if anyone is willing to give John enough time and put in enough effort to prepare the petition, I believe he will get it approved. I do not recommend John Lawit and his law firm to anyone. As soon as I paid my fees, my nightmare begins. 1) He does not communicate with the client As soon as you pay, he treats you like trash!. No respond to my emails and phone calls. It took at least two week for him to give you a response on the condition that you continuously call his front desk. Very unprofessional. It was a total waste of money and time and energy working with him. He expects you to do everything and he can just fill in a few pages of forms for thousand of dollars. Anyone who knows english can do this. When I visited his office consulting the type of visa I am applying, he had to go to USCIS's website to look for the information. (anyone can have access!) He gave me no more than I knew. Why need such a lawyer????? and pay thousands of dollars? He did literately NOTHING after two months of me paying him! I end up using another lawyer and within one month, my files are ready file to the immigration office. Thank God that I fired him in time, otherwise, I could not imagine the consequences if continuing working with him. I lost $2000 + two months of my precious time due to his inability. Because I lost two months, I had to file my documents (with the help of another lawyer) in premium service,which cost me additional $1225. Plus, more expensive plane ticket to visit the American Embassy for the visa stamp. 2) Full of mistakes Lawyers are supposed to work with accuracy. He filled my i-129 forms with many mistakes. My working address is wrong, my employer's title is wrong. He even billed me to the wrong address. Thanks to the fact that I have a unique name, USPS is able to track my address! 3) No work ethics and be careful with your documents if you retain him. He is very unprofessional. It is also based on the fact that he DOES NOT protect your PRIVACY. He has mixed my file with many other individuals! I have his other clients' birth certificates and other confidential documents mixed in my documents. In the recommendation letter template he gave me, there are names, titles, and contact information of other clients and recommenders. 4) No empathy During one conversation, he stated that I have broken english(lol).
