In my specific situation, I have been out of work for nearly a year and I requested that M&R simply "save me money any way they can" suggesting that if the grass hasn't grown significantly in a week to please skip that week of mowing. They responded by immediately going to mowing every other week even though we are in a peek growing season and the grass is very tall and in need of a mow every week. I was about to call and complain and ask them to mow every week when I received my first invoice for the mowing season. At least I was saving money, right? WRONG! M&R billed more than double ($205 vs. $90 for a normal mow) for each mow that occurred every other week! The worst part is that when I contacted Lisa Raymond who runs their office (who you will never connect with live and have to leave multiple messages to receive a call back) she justified it as me requesting to go every other week (which is not true) and that even though she knew the request was "to save me money given my unemployment" that she knew mowing every other week would cost more (because it is more work), but it is not her responsibility to notify me of such (even worse because I NEVER requested to go every other week, but only requested to save me money where they could). We use M&R for our snow removal service as well and have seen similar situations where they plow 3 times during one storm, or plow for a small 2" storm when it is 60 degrees and sunny the next day and would have all melted off anyway. Maybe this is what some customers would want, but given I had already contacted them given my unemployment and asked to "save me money where you can", this is clearly an attempt to maximizing billing with no concern for the customer. I would highly recommend avoiding M&R at all costs. I am in the process of switching to another provider and if they provide quality service I will be sure to post a Yelp review to that effect to let you know who would make a better an alternative.

Based on the positive reviews I had seen elsewhere, I contacted Better Tree and Shrub Care when I…read morewas looking to have some tree work done this past fall. I was not disappointed. Chris Lucey returned my call right away and since the work was not of an emergency nature, we agreed he would come out in October to do the work. (The other company I had called would not even look at the job until the spring.) The job included the removal of a number of dead limbs on some large oak trees, removal of two dead trees, cabling a two-trunk oak tree that had outgrown earlier cabling, as well as some pruning, which included removal of some large limbs that were growing over the roof. We also identified the need to take down a large oak in the front lawn that had some woodpecker activity. I was reluctant to take it down, but I respected Chris' professional opinion that the tree was compromised and a hazard due to its proximity to the electrical lines. I am so glad that he convinced me of this - once it was down we saw that the tree's core was basically hollowed out. Tree work is never cheap but Chris' pricing was very reasonable and I would not hesitate to use his services again. His crew was great - they were all courteous and respectful of the property. They did a great job with cleanup, removing all wood and debris - they even moved a pile of leaves we hadn't gotten to yet.

They were punctual and efficient, did an excellent job, and cleaned up well afterward. We were impressed at how courteous they were, not only with us, but also with each other.
