So, we made a daytrip of coming up north. It was pretty cold and overcast in early October, but we still had a good time. When we arrived on a weekday there were only a dozen or so other people around. We practically had the place to ourselves. We first watched the four otters swim in the pools (brr) and play on the tubes. One really seemed to like me, and we both shared the name Louis, so we hit it off from the start. I liked him more than the otters (!), but I think he just came to the fence to see me because he thought I was going to feed him. Then, we saw the staff with their "mystery" public interaction animal... a porcupine. She seemed hungry and grumpy, and spent the time eating food. I guess if I was trotted outside in the 40-degree weather I would be upset too. We went for a walk in the woods and heard music piped on speakers in the trees. My wife made a comment about it feeling like an anime or RPG experience, and I think she was right. It was odd, though enjoyable. We then walked around on the elevated paths in the woods and looked out of the bird's nest towers and spider's nest (yuck). There were swinging bridges and other interactive things for kids of all ages. Again, it was cold or we might have spent more time looking at them. They had indoor exhibits which were closed due to the pandemic (boo), but on a day like this they are very much needed to help recharge and get warm. It was a good time, despite being chilly. The views were great, but my glasses kept fogging up from the masks so I couldn't see as much as I would have liked. It is a great park seemingly in the middle of nowhere, and very far from where we live. But, I would like to return in warmer weather to experience it again.

You certainly can if you bring a beach towel or a chair. Otherwise expect this to be tailored to the kiddos. That sounds like a diss, but it isn't. You're in the mountains on a family trip with not a TON for you to do, so this ends up being an oasis. Plenty of room and also bathroom facilities available. My son was here for hours, and it was a perfect day. Walkable back to the hotel and restaurants. Perfect, no notes.

We were able to book our pontoon boat rental, pay and sign waivers from the comfort of our breakfast table. We arrived early as directed and we're immediately greeted by a very polite and professional young man. He directed us to pick out a boat. Of course, we wanted the best one, but they were all beautiful! It came down to picking the boat with armrests on the captain's chair because that was the only difference that we could see! We were given a quick rundown of the rules and off we went. We never knew that Lake Flower was connected to other lakes, we even went through a lock to Lower Saranac Lake. It was a wonderful day that I would love to repeat. Thank you HK boat rentals for a beautiful boat with professional/courteous service....We'll be back!!

Asked if any booking for the day, they said we were the first, and they gave us the option to pick the time and the boat. Our renting should have been started at 12:45 pm. We arrived at 12:30, and they told us that the boat was no anymore available because another group came before us and they were boarding our selected boat. I asked for the other one then... and they told us they didn't have the keys, and we should have wait until 1:30 pm... probably more. Or take a fish boat which I didn't want. In the end, I walked away, and my wife and I got to change plans, and of course, the day was already ruined. I hope they will refund me the money. Please, stay away if you don't want to have your day ruined, or if you still want a boat, then get them to sign a piece of paper that they will not give away your booking for someone less polite than you. (I saw the group who took or boat negotiating with them from the window of my bedroom at the lake house minutes before we got downstairs, BTW.) I hope this review helps as much as possible. Planning a weekend these days is not simple, and having people that ruin it with such superficiality, it's a shame.

Rented a canoe from these guys for a camping trip last weekend. I found the staff to be friendly…read moreand knowledgeable, giving me suggestions on where to pick up groceries and some other last-minute items, and directions on how to get to the boat launch. They had a dog wandering around the parking lot which made my dogs go nuts, but they didn't mind keeping her inside at my request. The canoe rental included paddles and life vests, and they walk you through how to secure the canoe to your car. They provide foam pads and straps, which can probably accommodate any car (you don't need a roof rack, though having roof rails helps). In addition to what they list online, they have a lot of other useful stuff in their shop like stoves and fuel. I strongly recommend the waterproof map. It's crazy expensive ($20 for a map??? really?), but totally worth it. It's more accurate than the one we got from the state, and the waterproofness came in really handy.

My partner was here as a little girl, some 65 years ago, and on that day many years ago, it was time to go, and she didn't get a chance to see the reindeer one more time. We decided to come up to see the reindeer one more time. Everybody at the park was very friendly, and we are glad to say that the reindeer are being kept very well. They look extremely healthy, friendly, and you can even feed them. Even as "old people" both myself, and my partner really really enjoyed the place, and we could feel the magic of the place.
