The facility is beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, meticulously clean, and maintains a quiet, calming environment. Patients are treated with genuine care, and it clearly shows in the staff's daily interactions. As a private duty nurse working with individuals who have dementia, I have seen many facilities and never have I found one I would feel comfortable recommending for my own family an. South Cove Manor is an exception. I would confidently choose this facility if such care were ever necessary. The majority of residents are Asian, though the facility is welcoming to all. Staff members speak a variety of Asian languages, which is a significant benefit for residents and families. While I have not personally tried the food, I have not heard any complaints. Residents appear well-adjusted, well-supported, and consistently cared for at a high level--something I cannot say about most places in this industry. A+

We visited her last…read moreSaturday because we were concerned that she won't adjust well being away from home for the first time. The location was a bit hard to find because there were separate buildings to the nursing home. Upon entrance, the smell of nasties, if I may, was a bit overwhelming. I've been to/volunteered at a couple of nursing homes before. This place by far was the best! The room my aunt stayed in was a bit cramped as she was sharing it with another elderly patient. My aunt couldn't sleep well every night because the neighbor was really loud. And they charge about $3/day to watch tv. A bit weird and sad... The good thing about this place is that the nurses were very attending. Because my aunt only speak Cantonese, she was not able to communicate. The nurse asked me to ask whether my aunt is in pain and she would give her medicine if she is. I thought that was very nice. You really have to be attending and caring to be working at a facility like this!

She was at Brigham for over a month, and they moved her to a place in Brookline that was just not at all sufficient for someone that is sick. She stayed at a place in Brookline that was so bad, she had to go to the ER twice for the flu and pneumonia. After being admitted again to the hospital, my family was told this place in Quincy was the only option and our hearts sunk because we only saw these 1 star reviews. This place is a honestly great because the nurses and the aids work and communicate well. There were plenty of rooms so my mom got her own room. They were kind and watch these patients well. It's not perfect, but if you come and check up on your family member every few days this place can be fantastic. My mom was comfortable and was able to recover well. We kept the nurses informed of any changes we noticed and they were kind and receptive. My sisters have spoken directly to the director of nursing and they tell me she is incredibly kind and sweet. If you are reading this review thanks for taking the time to read this, and I wish the best for you and you're family members.

After speaking to the caring nurses, professional staff, including the excellent cook whom had made sure the food was soft and easy for dad's condition. Most of all we applaud Victor Ng, Program Coordinator. He stayed in touch with our mom continually reassuring her that her husband of 61 years was being cared for. Victor's communication skills, nurturing style, thoroughness, etc. were top notch. He quickly became our family contact and still to this day, our mom keeps in touch with him. He and the rest of the staff went above and beyond for the Sargent family.

I would like to commend Dawn for playing a pivotal role helping Lora manage and improve her conditions. Great work provided by Dawn, who has been busy with other patients, but still has taken her time to make Lora feel like she is the only patient there. Dawn Hanson's extra attention, a little motivation, or just words of support are so important. I am very grateful for Dawn's assistance and moral support as this amazing experience has created an indelible impression in Lora's heart. Dawn is truly a hard working professional, serious, responsible, meticulous, and friendly, but most importantly, she sincerely cares about her patients. The attention to all Lora's needs and personal interest in her well being is more than one can wish for. The most enjoyable part of Dawn's job is the education she provides to patients impact their daily lives. Thank you very much for everything in deed!
