There are dozens of rose bushes, a variety of vegetables, and an annual giant peace sign made of neighborhood leaf mulch in the fall. As far as I can tell, Breeze Hill is fairly residential and this park doesn't go against the grain. Nestled between Gale Lane (duh) and 440, the park acts as a green buffer between the comfy cottages and the insanity of Nashville drivers. Its location also means that it's home to a large hill that, on a late winter's day, makes you feel like a GOT extra looking out upon his kingdom. The vantage points from the park hillside are fantastic and serve as a reminder of the chutes and ladders that make up the Nashville metro topography. What the park lacks in size, it makes up in heart. There's a small (really small) parking lot but ample parking opportunities throughout the nearby and in close proximity to the green space. This is a weekend park. This is a park that lends itself to bringing a book, hanging out on a bench or next to a tree and reading as the winds kissing your face and the sun warms your bones. This is a walking park that lets you feel the freedom of being outside but won't intimidate your smaller kids nor your older pets. Stately even in the barrenness of late winter, I'd bet that the spring time bloom offers a nice pop of color and hope to those speeding down 440 should they choose to simply glimpse upward as they fly to their next appointment. The park was/is a nice discovery and a timely reminder of the importance of exploring the metro. There are all sorts of gems ready and waiting for discovery.

There is a lot to do in and around this area and in a touristy area. People were friendly and although there were some unhoused people, they were minding their business and weren't bothering anyone. People with pets also frequent this area so before you lay down that blanket to sunbathe or have a lunch in the park, be mindful of your surroundings. If you bring your pet, clean up after them to keep from ruining someone's day.

We had some time to kill before our tour at Hatch Show Print, so we walked around the Music City…read moreWalk of Fame Park as it was across from the building which housed the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum and Hatch Show Print. As it was March 1, the lawn was dry and brown, and I'm sure the park looks much better in the summer, so it's unfair for me to give the park a low rating based on the condition of the lawn. But ignoring the brown lawn, this was not a great park. There were some picnic benches, and attempts at "fun activities" (a giant chess board, a volleyball net, and a cornhole board), but there was a lack of trees, so in the summer, even with a lush, green lawn, there would be very little shade. And yes, I judge a park by its trees and available shade -- I do not like parks that are simply large, open lawns. I like parks with shaded areas, trees, flowers, and nice places to sit. One of the features of the park was the Walk of Fame -- stars with the names of musicians. Neat, but not something I would go out of my way to see. It's clean, scenic and mostly flat, great for walking, running or biking! It hugs the Harpeth River (no surprise given the name), so lots of water views. If you live in west Nashville this is a great spot to add to your normal hiking/biking rotation. Also: love the super easy and huge parking situation at the Golf Center.

Why are there so few reviews of this greenway? Probably because there are two unconnected segments…read more One is northwest near I-40 and mostly within Bellevue Park, pinned in the Yelp map. The other is a much longer segment that starts in Edwin Warner Park near Ensworth School and continues along the Harpeth River until a dead end in a field just across train tracks from Bellevue Park and 2,000 feet short of the other segment. I recommend the much longer segment for most uses. The best places to park are within Edwin Warner Park off Highway 100 or in a dedicated parking lot near Edwin Warner Park Picnic Shelters 9 and 11, off Vaughn Road. The trail is long and on a beautiful Saturday, I it to be unexpectedly empty. Most of the trail is flat except a big hill along Morton Mill Road on the north end of the greenway. There is a mix of fields and new growth woods along most of the greenway, which is almost entirely in the Harpeth River's floodplain. Because it sits in the floodplain and is between fields and the river bank, there were many places where the paved path was covered by mud. There are scenic bridges over the Harpeth and a few overlooks, especially north of Highway 100. Some bridges are narrow enough that I had to stop my bike to wait for people to cross. Compared to other greenways in the area, there were few facilities - portable toilets in Edwin Warner Park and water stations at a couple of the trailheads. Benches are scarce except one in the middle and a few with some loose or missing planks on the overlooks near the northern end.

I am a fan of museums and history. However, that was not bound to happen because a chain link fence closed off Fort Nashborough to the public. Whether this was on account of the Indepence Day celebration that was taking place a couple of days later or something else, I only got to see it walking from 1st Avenue. Due to the fact that the only person in the vicinity of the fenced off Fort Nashborough was an unhoused man, I felt uncomfortable spending time by the historic site, and walked briskly to a more populated area. This was my experience seeing Fort Nashborough.
