Fortunately I have not had a lot of claims but I am pleased with the assistance I got with the few I had. ( a couple car accidents and a lost ring). Their personal lines administrators over the years have always been helpful and take care of all the minor issues I have had. Right now the woman that takes care of me is Amy and as all my past experiences with Bensman, I am pleased with her level of service. I have also bought a life insurance policy from Robert Friedman and he was helpful. It was a cheap term policy that's in place, and has not needed any servicing so I have no complaints in that area. I think it may be a little cheaper if I bought insurance over the internet but the few times I have needed service its nice to know I have one designated person that I can go to and they get things done.

Tim Maurer, managing director of commercial property & casualty, obviously doesn't feel the same way. We had arranged a phone call to discuss my insurance needs and unfortunately, something came up unexpectedly on my schedule & I was not able to call him when we had arranged. I called & emailed him early in the day letting him know something had come up and asked when we could reschedule for. After a few days of not hearing back from him, I again called and left him a VM & emailed him - still nothing. After a week of no response to multiple attempts to reach him, I reached out to a friend of mine that works in his office (different department) - explaining that Tim was MIA and asked if there was anyone else that could help me as I simply wasn't comfortable working with Tim any longer. Within minutes of my email to my pal, Tim was calling me. I was not in my office to take his call however. By the time I got his VM, it was WAY after business hours. His VM to me apologized and he said (and I quote) that he "dropped the ball" in getting back to me. I awoke to an email from him this morning saying he had left me a VM yesterday (which he did) but would be out of the office all day today. I emailed him back explaining that I simply wasn't comfortable working with him at this point and asked if anyone else was available. He responded saying he had made several attempts to contact me....a LIE! In fact, his VM clearly states that he dropped the ball and never got back to me. He "cc'd" my pal on this email and I think was trying to save face. My pal is a gem......if I were able to work directly with him on my needs, I would give Bensman Associates another try, but because he is unable, I am taking my business elsewhere. In a time when we have choices and when the economy is in such a state, I am shocked & disappointed in Bensman and especially in Tim Maurer. Maybe my business wasn't big enough for him......maybe he has so much business rolling in that he doesn't need new clients/accounts........maybe he has a bridge to sell me too. I would suggest to anyone that they NOT take their business insurance needs to Bensman Associates or Tim Maurer - not when there are so many other companies out there showing that they value the small business owner.

I previously filled out a request for an online insurance quote for my car insurance. I received a return phone call from Anthony D'Angelo. We got into a conversation and he quoted me both car and motorcycle insurance premiums that were lower than what I had through Allstate and Mercury. But the best part was his patience level and willingness to answer questions. He was also incredibly honest about other companies--their pros and cons. He really went above and beyond to address my concerns, answer questions, and explain everything. I haven't found that before in an insurance carrier. He wrote up both policies over the phone and even sent me the binder and coverage cards via email after we hung up. I was so impressed with this guy. Give Anthony a call. He's terrific and very helpful. The insurance industry needs more people like him!

I would have thought since we are somewhat business neighbors you would have at least told me personally, instead of what happen,, I am the first to admit I have a very busy schedule and often "stretch" myself. But going forward and as good customer service, sometimes best to hear the bad news personally from your agent. I know our relationship was not that long, but it seems when a customer pays in for decades and then makes a claim, they are dropped. Rather defeats the word "insurance". My experience with Leonardi goes way back to the mid 90's. I was a young man who was getting…read moremarried and buying a townhome with my fiance. I had no idea how to go about getting insured, but my future father in law had been using Leonardi and told us to call them. I've used Leonardi ever since. They look out for me in ways that I never expected. When I was getting a divorce a few years ago, I called to explain what was happening. It really wasn't a great time of my life and I was so relieved to have Deena at Leonardi helping me out. Deena was able to find me a new insurance company with lower rates and was so helpful and treated me with kindness at a very vulnerable time in my life. Since then I have got my own condo. Deena was helpful once again and gave me options and explained the difference in coverage. She was also helpful when I was in an accident last year, and then again, when I was named in a lawsuit (Some homeowners insurance will cover that!) This year, I received my updated car insurance and the rate had almost doubled. As I had mentioned, I had been in an accident last year, but it was determined that the majority of the fault was the other driver. I thought I was just screwed, but then like a light out of the darkness, I received an email from Deena at Leonardi. She was reviewing my policy and saw how much more they were charging me. She contacted the insurance company and was able to get it reduced by HUNDREDS of dollars! I guess having a company like Leonardi and agents like Deena are like having insurance for your insurance. You can shop around on your own, but you owe it to yourself to give Leonardi a try to see how much better they can do. I am so grateful for everything they have done for me.
