While cruising down I-81 several months ago with 3/4 of a 9 hour journey behind me, I was pulled over and informed by a representative of the State of VA that I needed to slow down and enjoy the scenery of their beautiful commonwealth. Despite my pleading that my stop earlier to purchase a bunch of apples was proof valid that I was taking in my surroundings, the kind representative thought it best that I receive a paper reminder of his suggestion. Within days of my experience, my mailbox was flooded with offers to help me in my situation. Through weighing my options, I called a few of the individuals who offered assistance. I based my decision on who to procede with on a couple of factors: price, friendliness, background, and proximity to the location of my hearing. Joel seemed like the best of all four criteria. When I called his office, I first spoke with a friendly individual who listened to my situation. She stated that Joel could possibly represent me and asked if I would like for him to call me to discuss the matter further. I said "sure" and within an hour Joel was calling me back. He listened to me and said that based on my clean driving record there was a good possibility for a successful outcome. Joel then quoted his fee, which was middle of the pack compared to the four other attorneys I had contacted. Based on his demeanor on the phone and the friendliness of his employees I decided to proceed with Joel. The process was great! Joel emailed me the paperwork, which I signed and sent back via email. They then sent me the completed letter of representation, which I reviewed. Due to my critical nature I had a couple of questions on what I received. Joel's staff was very nice and accommodating in making sure that all my questions were addressed without making me feel like a burden. On the day of the hearing, I received a call directly from Joel letting me know the outcome of my case. He was able to negotiate the charge down to no points with a reasonable fine, which I immediately paid. Overall, I am very happy with the outcome and to have had Joel present my case. On May 23rd 2018 i received a speeding violation in Pearisburg VA. I felt the circumstance surrounding the citation where fraudulent and called the office of Joel S Jackson as he was listed as a traffic attorney. Upon calling the office and speaking to Joel, i explained I had been in the state 2 hours driving a rental car i was not used to and I am from fl & certainly not used to the hills and mountains of VA. The speed limit sign that reduced the speed to 40 mph was 20 ft from the where the officer was hiding behind signage at the bottom of a hill not allowing me to stop in time. He went to in to great detail about his reputation and he won 9 out of 10 cases and even mentioned some much worse than mine that he was able to have dismissed. He stated worst case scenario he was confident it would be at least reduced to faulty equipment so i would not pay for points on my insurance. This cost me $250 They over charged me, no copies of any documents, the court date change 2 times and I was never notified of the out come or sent documents from his office or Giles County regarding the outcome of the case which was exactly the same as the citation. This a fraudulent organization that makes false promises and ended up costing me 3x the amount of the of the original citation. I provided my updated address as I moved June 1st and that was never relayed to anyone. I just received a letter dated 2/15/19 with my previous address with a Lien from Giles County Court House in VA with a bill including late fees and penalties.
