Firstly, I live in a small community when I can I support local business owners by paying for…read moreservices locally when possible. I still utilize services that may not have gotten a good review but *only if the owner and/or manager takes responsibility for and attempts to correct the mistake*. That was the polar opposite of what I experienced at this office. Main facts: * Relative visiting from out of town for the holiday had forgotten to drop their paperwork off at the DMV the week it was due (holiday week) due to another close relative receiving a serious health diagnosis and needing support and care. * I looked up alternatives to the DMV so their paperwork and fees would be received on time. * I saw this business in the local listings for my community and referred my relative to their office, accompanying them and waiting in my car while the business owner assisted my relative. * Business owner told my relative that she was planning to close for the day and relative said they felt rushed through the process as the owner was curt and rude to them. * Due to it being immediately before the holiday and needing to leave to care for the sick relative (needed current fees to drive legally) said this was the only reason they stayed in the office at that point. * Owner completed the process so quickly it actually surprised my relative. * Relative, due to unforeseen events had insufficient funds in their account by less than $5. * BUSINESS OWNER CHARGED MY RELATIVE FULL COST OF SERVICE BUT REFUSED TO PROCESS THE PAPERWORK. * This left my relative with no current tags. Due to the holiday there was not enough time to get it done elsewhere and my relative now did not have enough money to pay someone else to complete the process. * Relative subsists on federal disability due to a disability acquired as a youngster and has no disposable income to speak of; had saved for a few months to make sure they would be able to pay for and ensure that their DMV paperwork would be complete so they could drive legally. * Was unable to go on their scheduled trip to assist the ill relative out of town in another county and that relative was alone without care on the holiday due to it being so last minute they were unable to get someone else to help. I normally like to give the benefit of the doubt but when someone clearly takes advantage of someone else I feel a need to speak up to shorten the length of time this person practices unethically to minimize damages to others in the future. I went in personally and attempted to ask why she decided to do this and she immediately raised her voice at me and told me to leave. Before I ever brought up the subject, she was dismissive and rude when I asked to see what type of contract that I, a "potential customer" would have to sign in order to be helped, saying "I don't know you," and expressing her disinterest and annoyance at my presence. She then in her raised voice told me to get out of her business and the next customer who had just entered and she both laughed at me as I walked back to my car. I had already turned around to leave before I even heard her tell me to get out by the way. I'm floored. Don't go here.

I highly recommend these folks. Years ago we had our home and cars insured elsewhere and that insurance was fine, no specific problems. But I heard somewhere that State Farm discounts their annual premium every year that you stay with them and don't have an accident. That sounded nice to be rewarded for loyalty so I switched our cars to State Farm. Later we switched our home to take advantage of the discount from having both home and cars. SO glad we did! After a plumbing leak while we were out of town, we needed to make a claim on our house. Yikes! I heard horror stories from friends about how insurance companies make it so stressful. State Farm was super efficient and I'd even say generous as far as helping us mitigate and repair the damage. We were so grateful for both the local and national support. Friends later warned us that insurance companies often cancel a policy after a claim or at least raise the premium cost. State Farm did neither. We still have our original policy at the same rate. Years later, a family member had a fender bender and we made a claim on the car insurance. Again, it was a fast and smooth process handled with dignity at both the local and national level. Finally, I want to add that a friend of mine recently asked on Facebook who would recommend their insurance agency. Most people complained about their insurance companies but one other person and I both praised State Farm. AND a mutual friend who works at an auto body shop (so she deals with multiple insurance companies every day) chimed in to say that State Farm was one of the few insurance companies she considers reputable and high quality. That felt like such great validation on a larger scale of our personal experience.
