I took the CNA course with Xavier, who is wonderful! On-boarding takes a while and requires quite a bit of paperwork, but once you start, the program is structured well and easy to follow. They provide great resources, coaching, and financial help for supplies on top of the fact the program is free. They even provide resume and mock interview help. It's clear everyone here wants you to succeed and get a job quickly upon graduation. This is an amazing community resource not to be missed! read more

I just completed my MA course. If you're looking for a great teacher, it's Ms.K. She really knows how to best prepare you for the real world. I have a disability and never once doubted me and was very accommodating but didn't view or treat me differently. This program saved me financially and got my foot in the door in the healthcare field. Getting placed at Kaiser for my externship will make it a bit easier to find work going further. Most other trade schools make you pay thousands and have you clueless. Life is hectic but I learned how to balance work and school and advocate for myself and my learning I'm so grateful for JobTrain. In this program the effort you put in truly reflects what you get out of it. I loved this experience and so excited for what's to come! read more

Tim was my instructor for 7 months and was definitely the best instructor/ math tutor there . He works with 5 keys!! Without his help I would have definitely not gotten my high school diploma. I had so many questions and he was always right there to help with so much patience and dedication. I was lucky enough to take the medical assisting class with one of the greatest instructors they have, Mrs. G (Geetika). She is full of knowledge and really knows what she's talking about. Her educational and professional background coupled with her wonderful ability to teach she was a great resource of information. Apart from that Mrs. G showed sincere concern for all of her students, and her drive for each one to succeed in the field can be compared to none. I am very satisfied and inspired by the community atmosphere at JobTrain as well as the level of education. I hold a BA from a CA State University and have also attended community college for continued learning. Like many hardworking people I found myself out of work due to the economy and when the opportunity to take a class here I was first skeptical. But the resigned feelings I had after a couple months of fruitless job searching are no more after taking the Medical Office Assistant Class. I also have received resume help, as well as mock type interviews with HR reps from the likes of Google and Hewlett Packard. Where can you go and get free training, help with job search, and support? I haven't gone through their programs but I have donated office equipment, clothes and $. Once a year they host a Breakfast of Champions. They give their top graduates awards and you can hear their stories. People temporarily out of work, who find with a little luck, hard work, and perseverance -- careers. It's a great non-profit helping people become a part of the work force. read more

Be careful. I signed up for Office Skills because I wanted to learn QuickBooks and because is was open enrollment. I got to the orientation 15 mins early to make sure I was on time, and then the guy came 15 mins late and didn't apologize. He was one of those people who likes to give information but doesn't like to be corrected when wrong. I also noticed that he talked to us like none of us were professionals. I know that there were a lot of people there to take their GED, but he treated everyone like they hadn't graduated from high school. Actually his name was John and he didn't seem to like us very much. I signed up to see my counselor the next day. She told me I had to register with Canada (I'm already a student at another college) and that my class wouldn't start until Novermber because it was full for October. The woman who took my information should've told me all of this when I signed up so I could make a decision. People are desperate to find a job (myself included), and they take advantage of this to get you to sign up. Just get all of the information you need before you sign up. read more

I love the way they help the community. To serve the low income, out of work, and our youth is not easy but they do it. They have a one stop center that will help you in your search for a job, they have vocational training to improve your skills, they have youth programs, and many resources for the issues that life throws our way. my mom works here and this place is truly great. she's been here for 18 years I've basically been growing up here since i was a baby and I've seen how jobtrain has grown and helped thousands.
