Dr. Machuzak was good when I got to see him, but when I showed up for today's annual appointment AFTER GETTING A REMINDER TEXT THIS MORNING (5/1/25), his office was CLOSED PERMANENTLY. I asked a receptionist for one of the other doctors what happened to him, and she said he closed the office some time ago. I showed her the reminder text from this morning and she said "Oh, his system is still sending out automated reminders" (!!!!). I called his phone number and a machine still answered and took a message, but I don't expect any callback. Why "Office Experience" is colored green above with no way to change it is a mystery to me. Don't believe it! TOTALLY UNETHICAL TO LEAVE AUTOMATED REMINDERS RUNNING, CLOSE UP AND SKIP TOWN WITHOUT BOTHERING TO NOTIFY SCHEDULED PATIENTS! read more

They work two days a week seeing patients. They don't answer the phones. If you're able to leave a message, they NEVER return the call. I wonder if the Doctor is aware of the reason patients are leaving his practice. Ain't nobody got time for that. Looking for a new dermatologist. read more

Dr was good, when he was there. My appointments were cancelled constantly, this year, as Dr wasn't able to make it in. Not very professional if you ask me. There are not many dermatologists in the area, but as most of us that are in need of skin checks etc, I'll have no choice but to go elsewhere. read more

Office girls and I mean girls ! So rude and unprofessional After waiting a very long time I went up to speak to one of them she said don't talk to me talk to her! I l walked out not seeing a doctor that I waited a year to see. But this isn't the 1st time with this office he is never on time hard to get anyone to return a call and misses his own work days and doesn't call you to let you know. Dr. Machuzak is one of the most caring doctors I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He is a very friendly and empathetic doctor whose main concern is your welfare. He always takes whatever time necessary to listen to you, answer your questions, and give you the best care possible. Even more rare than a doctor that actually listens to you and addresses your concerns is one that is so personable and fun. He makes it enjoyable to go to the doctor! read more

He cancels appointments with short notice and when you try to reschedule they never call you back. So nothing has changed since the crooks at Thumb Butte, where he still has his office, closed down with NO NOTICE AT ALL for all their patients! This is no way to run a practice. Even after writing a note to them on his own website that they did this. And this is the 2nd time I was cancelled with little notice. Really bad. Would never ever consider him again unless you have time to kill. If you drive from Scottsdale T-F AND you have an office in Scottsdale guess who gets the short shrift? His Prescott patients. He needs to do us all a favor and close Prescott for good! read more

I went twice. First time I ended up leaving after waiting an hour. Second time waited 30 minutes and was escorted to a room and waited another 45 minutes. Dr came in and maybe spent 5 minutes with me. My time is valuable too. read more

Amazing doctor and cares about his patients. Sometimes appointments can run behind but what doctor isnt short staff? I guarantee the wait you get a doctor who actually cares and he takes his time with each patient so yeah sometimes they're a wait but not long. But we're there to get treated and as much as this doctor cares about his patients it's worth a 30 min wait. Dr. Machuzak acquires personal, professional help. Id rather wait for a doctor who actually cares about his patients. Amazing work and a sincere doctor. Took forever to get an appt, then made me wait for him for 2 hours for that! I had even asked the receptionist if he was running behind (because I do not live in town and could have gone out to lunch) but was only told, yes, it could be a wait. Neither the doc nor the receptionist ever offered an apology, or even an acknowledgement. He whipped through my appt without even listening to my true request. Instead, removed something on my back and had it biopsied, leaving me scarred for no reason. I decided to give him a second chance. Nope, no improvements. Switched to another dermatologist. Can never get through to a human at the phone, so had to finally leave a message asking them to forward my records. Like most every other time I've called them, no response. I will leave it to my new doc to try to get my records. What a waste of time and money. I am sorry that it is difficult to find staff these days, but that is no excuse to offer poor services. DON'T WAIST YOUR TIME WITH THIS DOCTOR!!!! My mother was there today to see this dermatologist. The office girl was rude and had no idea what they are doing. They gave her unreadable paperwork to fill out. My mom asked a question about the unreadable paperwork, and they told my mother that was her job to figure it out and would not answer her question. They then told my mother that it was her job to get the fax number of her previous doctor, and my mother told her no it's not. My mother provided the address and phone number on the release document. The girl did not even know what a release document was. They left my mother in a room, she sat in a room for 2 hours and no one came in and saw her or even let her know that the doctor was running behind or gave a status update on when the doctor would be in. Additionally, the room they put my mother in, was dirty and had the previous patients' dirty Q-tips, ripped-open wipes lying there, and a jar of medication with the lid off. No doctor's office should be putting patients in a dirty room. My mother was there only to establish herself as a new patient. My mother got up and walked out as nobody should have to sit in a room for 2 hours!! She WILL NOT BE RETURNING! Sounds like this medical provider needs new office help who knows what customer service is and knows how to be kind, passionate, and treat patients with respect. read more

The whole experience was a mess. The scheduler called and changed my appt. because "the doctor decided not to work on Mondays anymore". She then called back again to change my appt. and didn't realize she'd already changed it. When you get there it isn't clear where they are, and no one is at the desk when you find it. I then waited 25 minutes to see the doctor. I mentioned this to the. Dr. and he said "don't say that to me." When I got in I was informed by the assistant that this wasn't going to be a complete review of my skin, that he would determine if I needed to come back for a complete review. (More $$$?) He looked at my face (I've had skin cancer on my face) and spent a couple of minutes looking at my back. I asked about a milia on my face and the first thing out of his mouth was "yes, I can remove it for $100." I'm used to awesome determatologists, he is definitely is not that. From the start, Nurse Lindsey and Dr. Joe were on it. Dr. Joe is knowledgeable, professional and has an excellent bedside manner. I've been to dermatologists in the past and some can be rough and cold.  As soon as he entered the room, Dr. Joe put me at ease, assessed my problem and treated my skin quandary. I've been to a number of Dermatologists over the years and Dr. Machuzak is by far the best I have been too. He is extremely thorough and excellent at his diagnoses. Most importantly he has been great for my wife. She had cancer 5 years ago with chemo and radiation and it damaged and scarred her heart. She recently went through hell constantly itching for 2 months. Dr. Machuzak was responsible for diagnosing a rare type of autoimmune disease and helping her. Besides that he has a wonder sense of humor and his assistant Lindsey is very good, personal, and caring. read more

This Dr and his team are great. I was suffering with a serious skin irritation with both my feet that had been going on for a couple of months. I had made an appointment with MacKenzie Dermatology but they had a 3 month waiting list. As I was really in trouble with my feet I tried to pull my appointment forward but did not get any sympathy from MacKenzie's receptionist. I then found JM Dermatology on Yelp who had positive reviews. I made a call to JM, spoke to Kelsey who said Dr was very busy but let me see what I can do. She managed to fit me in the next day. When I showed Dr my feet he said "crikey, they look really bad" After examining me, he then prescribed some pills and ointment. Over the next week I followed Dr's plan and after a couple of days could see a drastic improvement with my feet. Now a week and half later, my feet problem is definitely under control and should be completely healed in a couple of days. In my opinion Dr Joey is a really clever Dermatologist, with a great reassuring personality and his back up staff went out of their way to help me by researching the prices of different medications that Dr could prescribe me. My husband and I were new patients to Dr. Machuzak. He is awesome. Treated us as if had been patients for a long time. He does have a great sense of humor but even more important is his professionalism. He immediately diagnosed what needed to be done and did it. So glad we found him. Won't go anywhere else. I made an appointment to have a routine skin check. After waiting 40 minutes beyond my appointment time, for which I arrived early to complete the required paperwork, I noticed another patient asking how much more time she would need to wait. Her appointment was for ten minutes before mine and there was another patient scheduled before her. I decided to cancel my appointment as my time available was limited, and I was feeling very disrespected for being made to wait for so long. The staff offered to take me back immediately once I told them of my disappointment but that would have meant others would have been made to wait even longer. The staff said this doctor often runs late and another patient told me it's best to call before coming into the office to find out how late he is running that day. Is this a way to run a practice? Isn't patient time valuable too? This office needs an overhaul to be able to improve operations and patient experiences. What a disappointment read more
