10 years ago Matthew at JK & Co did our wedding bands. We had an exceptional experience at the time. When we wanted to get a new engagement ring for my wife to celebrate 10 years of marriage, Matthew was the first person to come to mind for that. Are we glad we decided to get the ring done through JK & Co. Matthew was a true professional the whole time. Brought things up to us we would never even thought about or knew were even options. It was such an educational experience. Lastly not only are you paying for a high quality masterpiece but an experience that makes you feel comfortable you are making a good decision. It would be a mistake to go anywhere else.

Custom engagement ring

If you want stunning, customized engagement rings and wedding bands, you can't go wrong with JK & Co. Matthew walked us through every step of the process, educated us on our options, and delivered rings that my husband and I will cherish for the rest of our lives.

JK & Co. designed and created the most stunning ring I've ever owned. Matthew is a long-time friend of my husband so when he wanted to get me a new ring for our ten year anniversary we knew we could entrust Matthew with this important milestone. He is a true professional and let us know about all our options in regard to design, stone quality/shapes and how it would look with the various placement settings. He even got it made and delivered to me on my birthday! We decided to get something elegant and unique - an elongated cushion on rose gold. I'm so in love and will cherish it forever.

My now-fiancé and I had an incredible experience with JK & Co. From the initial consultation to the curation collection to the final result, every part of the process exceeded our expectations. I was interested in a custom engagement ring and I had very little knowledge about diamonds or even jewelry in general. In total, I went to four places around the LA area. I was shocked to find that each of the four had completely different and sometimes opposite experiences. One had no actual diamonds to show, one didn't feel fully professional, another felt like a car dealership... and then there was JK & Co. We worked with Matthew. He is patient, incredibly knowledgable and so professional. 10/10. Everything about JK & Co is about personal touches with no pressure and no rush. They move at the pace that you are most comfortable with and can work with any budget range. Matthew took our specifications and preferences and personally curated an unbelievable collection of diamonds. The presentation of this collection was the most impressive part of the journey for me. He took the time to go through each diamond with me, with very nicely printed information on all of them and had everything beautifully organized. The proposal was a huge success! My fiancé is over the moon for her ring. The diamond is absolutely breathtaking and the band and setting are gorgeous. Thank you to Matthew and JK & Co!! If you are reading this and you are looking for the perfect engagement ring, wedding band, etc., take this into consideration. If you and your partner are the sentimental type who would find and appreciate the magic of creating the ring and would hold on to the story and the experience of it all, then JK & Co is 100% where you must go. Even if you're not looking for a personal touch, then simply enjoy the highest level of professionalism and expertise that they have to offer.

Thank you Matthew @ JK&co for creating the perfect ring for us. JK&co was our 1st & only stop when we started our ring process. Matthew was so kind, understanding & patient that there was no need to look anywhere else. consultations were appt only & private, with just us & the specialist (vs other places where there are several potential clients trying to receive assistance). This made the experience feel much more intimate & special. Matthew really understood our needs & guided us to create the perfect ring for us. Thanks again for the great memories & beautiful engagement ring (single diamond with hidden halo & half-pave). We'll be back for our wedding bands :)

For those of you wanting a similar look, Pear Shaped diamond with petite micro pave halo setting & french pave band. I AM IN LOVE.

If you are looking for the perfect place to design your perfect ring, you HAVE to use JK & Co. WOW is all I had to say when I saw it. This ring is better than I could have dreamed of! I feel like I have a $100,000 ring! First of all let me start with how wonderful Matthew is to work with. I was part of the design process with my fiance. My fiance set up a meeting with JK & Co literally ONE day before the world shut down due to the pandemic and the way they worked with us through this time was AMAZING. First of all, we loved that JK & Co let us use our own diamond. We found a beautiful one online and we wanted to bring in on our first consultation to make sure it was the right one. Of course, my fiance forgot to tell them that because the first meeting is usually to talk about what you like and the second is to look at diamonds. So when we got there they had no diamonds to show us. We were in a bit of a rush because we knew the world was about to shut down due to the pandemic (this literally ended up being the day before all businesses shut down) I was so nervous and paranoid of the pandemic and Matthew was so understanding being very clean and opening doors with napkins! He let us cut to the chase and even though he had no diamonds to show us he looked at our diamond for us and told us it was absolutely perfect. We loved that he was honest and not trying to sell us one of his. We know he has beautiful ones too, the diamonds in my band and halo are STUNNING he matched them perfectly, look at the photos I added! They also had great pricing and we looked EVERYWHERE in LA. We went to so many places before JK & Co where it felt like everyone was trying to upsell us and didn't care about how we felt. Matthew was not like that. He was 100% honest and wanted us to have the perfect ring and he said our diamond was great and we should use it if it felt right to us. We also loved his personality, he was just so nice, someone we would be friends with. He was also in the process of getting engaged too so it was nice to be able to relate. He then asked me what I wanted in a ring and took notes because my fiance would be doing the rest of the work and add any final touches. If you are designing this with your significant other and you're worried about it not being a surprise, don't worry it still is. Like I said they take notes of what you want so you can relax and step aside. Your significant other can also add special touches. You never see it fully done, so you will be wowed! As I said, the world shut down a day after this meeting. Before deciding to go with JK & Co we skyped with Matthew a few more times to go over what I wanted. I was looking for a particular micro pave seamless halo that it seemed no one could do except JK & Co. They had the exact type yet I was still nervous and particular. He made me feel at ease and we ended up going with him and we are so thankful! My fiance said during the process Matthew was kind enough to drive to our house to pick up the diamond during the pandemic (we happen to live near their office) and I was so blown away after hearing the customer service. Then came the moment, the proposal. When I saw the ring, time stopped! It was more beautiful than I could have ever imagined! They had done everything I wanted and more! It even sparkles in the dark. It was the most beautiful and sparkly ring I had ever seen, I couldn't have imagined it to be this stunning. And it looks HUGE! It has so much brilliance and fire, the halo made it pop, all the fire reflecting off of it. Plus I have a pear-shaped ring and because the halo adds extra protection we didn't need a prong at the front. It literally looks like one huge diamond. I suggest it if you are considering a halo. Inside the ring, my fiance added two hidden gems to represent us. It was such a special addition. This ring is such high quality, you'd think it were a Harry Winston BUT BETTER. Way more modern and better quality (trust me we looked for fun there). We also went to Tiffany's and it was junk in comparison (weak structure, the diamonds in the ring are not sealed in there like they are at JK & Co) I swear this company will be the next big thing and I'm so happy we found them. This ring is a show-stopping dream ring. I can't take it off! I cannot stop looking at my beautiful ring, I'm looking at it as I write this! I cannot thank JK & Co enough for making all our dreams come true. We joke that this ring got us through the pandemic and it really has. Thank you! If you are worried about finding the perfect ring I hope this review helps you rest assured that it is the best place you could ever find!

JK & Co. Jewelers came highly recommended by a friend and they did not disappoint. Abe helped me navigate the design process seamlessly from start to finish. After our first appointment (and my shaky description/design concept) he provided an array of beautifully curated black diamonds and stunning half moon side stones to choose from. Abe was patient, kind and very easy to work with. I cannot recommend JK & Co. enough.

Jk & Co created my dream custom engagement ring! My fiancé and I went to the first consultation with Matthew together and brought my late grandmother's ring, as we were leaning towards using the center diamond in a new setting to look more contemporary and fit my personal style. Matthew validated that my heirloom stone would be beautiful to use and encouraged us to do so, and when I described the setting design I had in mind, he brought out examples of exactly what I was looking for- it was so easy! He really took the time to listen to my particular concerns about needing a ring to be wearable and practical for me on the job as a musician. Matthew was very warm, kind, and truly invested in getting to know us as a couple and making a personalized experience with no hint of pushiness. It was important to us to find a jeweler who we could really trust with my family heirloom, and we left the appointment super excited about the process. My fiancé and Matthew took the process from there, and my fiancé told me after our engagement that Matthew even went above and beyond by advising and brainstorming with him about the proposal plans and surprise. I was totally blown away with the ring and transformation, which was everything I wanted and more. The office is beautiful and in an adorable area in Santa Monica, and I went back for a slight size adjustment which turned out perfectly. Looking forward to going back for our future jewelry needs!

2.45 emerald cut diamond, 2-tone (18 kt rose gold band, white gold prongs), French pave band.

UPDATE: So when I first picked up my ring, there was a small issue with the hidden halo prongs being visible from the birds eye view. It didn't take away from the beauty of my ring, but was something I noticed with my eagle eye. Matthew said he could try to slightly polish down the hidden halo prongs to make it less noticeable, but explained that due to the shape and angles of my diamond (emerald cut), it is harder to completely tuck the hidden halo underneath the diamond. That made sense to me. When I picked up my ring for the second time, I was shocked to find out he ended up redoing that whole area (instead of just polishing the prongs), to make sure the hidden halo was tucked under as much as possible given my diamonds dimensions. The results are perfect. I am so impressed by how he did what he needed to do to make it just right, and didn't just do what was easiest. I think Matthew may be as much as a perfectionist as I am! :) Thank you again!

Abe made my engagement ring dreams come true. When I walked into the showroom I saw a ring I liked that was out of our price range and he made the design work to fit what we wanted. He was so incredibly easy to work with and wasn't pushy in the slightest. They took everything I asked for into consideration when my fiancé and I went in to design my ring. He also made our wedding bands which came out perfect - including custom engraving. JK & Co. really takes pride in their work and it shows. I would recommend them to anyone looking for wedding or fine jewelry!

My experience with Matthew has been quite different from everyone in the review. Our initial appointment went fine, I had a good experience during the showroom appointment. Matthew was confident that he was able to find the exact stone I was looking for. Keep in mind I was shopping around other jewelers but but jk & co was my top option. However, our conversation after the appt just rubbed me in the wrong way in many different occasions. Most jewelers don't show the curated stones until deposit is made and that makes perfect sense. Although he was confident during our appt that he can find the perfect stone, he mentioned afterwards that what I want would be hard to find. Even though the conversation went differently than what I expected, I had no issues with it since the stone isn't too common. With that being said, now I was unsure if Matthew could find the stone that I eventually wanted. The other jeweler I went to was able to find what I was looking for within our budge but I was kind of firm on going with jk & co even if it meant I had to pay more for a lower setting. My boyfriend was honest about what we got quoted on from the other jeweler to Matthew. He then said something along the lines of "we only find high quality stones so if makes sense for you to work with a jeweler that offered 3.9 ct for $__ then no hard feelings." The way Matthew worded things to my bf was like he was making an assumption that we were getting a 3.9ct shitty quality stone with an unreasonable budget expectations. I've attached the GIA report of that exact stone just so matthew can see it. It's the same quality as what he raved about. Even then, my bf didn't say anything nor did i cause I still wanted to work with them. My bf drove 4hrs from Nevada, another 1.5hr from my house to see them in which he also gave us the vibe he didn't really believe us. Therefore, my bf provided him with his drivers license. Anyways, I reached out to him to tell him I'm open different settings and lowered my stone setting JUST to go with them since he said I'll have more options that way. We truly went out of our way to give them our business. I've asked him questions about the stone that he said might be right fit- he ignored my email. I then followed up with him with another email which he then gave me a generic/half assed response. Even if his entire demeanor towards me and my boyfriend felt like he didn't really want to work with us, I was completely polite and just asked questions no other jewelers had problems answering. He doesn't share anything about the stone until deposit is made like the carat/size/symmetry literally the basic info I SHOULD know since this is close to a six figure purchase. It's extremely hard to commit to something very expensive when 1. You don't know anything about the stone 2. Ignored my email 3.tells me it'll be hard to find what I'm looking for. I'm not even adding in the factor that he wasn't really being nice to us. It just didn't really make sense to me why anyone would just pay the deposit without knowing anything about the stone. And IF that's how their system works, he should've communicated that to us but he didn't so it felt somewhat personal. But again, despite of that, I wouldn't have minded putting a deposit if he just seemed like he cared?? I just did not appreciate how he treated us. It was almost as if he was very resistant towards us and had a sense of entitlement. I have confronted him that I'm getting an impression that he doesn't want to work with us after his very "i don't care" response and even then no apologies for ignoring my email. Anyways, that made it easy for me to make my decision NOT to go with them.

Engagement ring on hand

Could not speak more highly about JK & Co. - my ring is absolutely gorgeous & I couldn't be happier!! My fiancé was nervous to go design my ring by himself and the people at JK & Co. helped explain everything to him so that he felt both excited and comfortable with his purchase. We are definitely coming back for our wedding bands and recommending everyone to them!! Love love LOVE!!

Recently, on my second visit to Curated LA, I brought my antique wedding ring in to have it resized. It is a Victorian era ring (very old but well maintained). They said it would be ready in a few days. The next week I reached out to see if it was ready and they said that the prongs needed to be secured, which would cost an additional amount. I agreed and they said they were working on it that day. 3 days later I checked in to see if it was ready for pick up. She said they were still working on it and she'd contact me the following week. The following week she said they were still working on it. It was finally ready 2 weeks after I'd originally brought it in. She said it looked like new. When I picked it up we were heading out of town to evacuate the Palisades fire so I was in a rush, but quickly thereafter noticed the prongs looked misshapen and it was snagging on things. I was planning on bringing it back in when we got back to town. Before I had the chance to a small diamond fell out. I messaged Curated LA that a stone had fallen out and I was very upset - they had just adjusted the prongs (which I hadn't even brought the ring in for). I was told to bring the ring in to have them look at it. No apology. Also no apology for the delay on getting it back to me in the first place. When I voiced frustration she said that they do so many repairs each week she can't keep track, my ring wasn't in good condition, and that stones fall out all of the time - from new rings and vintage ones alike. Regardless, I am not bringing my ring back to Curated LA. It is not about the money (the repairs didn't cost much). They never offered to refund it or to replace the missing stone. I'm bringing it to a jeweler that has a workshop in house and does it themselves rather than outsourcing it. Don't trust your valued jewelry for repairs with this shop.

TL;DR - L'Oliphant sold us a FAKE men's wedding band that was listed as 14KT solid white gold (for…read more$1,000!). We found out AFTER our wedding that it was some alloy of iron and nickel covered in gold. When we went to the shop, BJ didn't take any responsibility. After my husband pressured her she did eventually refund us for the original amount. However, we still suffered losses paying for the ring authentication AND the increase in gold price from last year. Oh and now we know we had a FAKE ring in our wedding and all of the photos for the rest of our lives. You can see in my Yelp history that I normally avoid writing reviews like this, as I understand how bad reviews can impact certain businesses. I already know that the owner BJ is going to write and deny all of this but I feel that I'm truly doing the public a disservice by not saying anything because we got scammed. The only thing that would have prevented me from leaving this review is if she took FULL responsibility and went above and beyond to make it right. Clearly, we are all reading my review right now so she did NOT make it right or even take an inkling of responsibility. We were recommended L'Oliphant's services for custom engagement and wedding bands. The entire process took a few weeks in 2024. The process was not as smooth as I would have preferred - their receipt system is absolutely a mess, and we had to drive across town numerous times for appointments or to review designs in person. What really was the kicker - we purchased a men's white gold wedding band and we were assured it was solid gold. Priced at $1000. When we received it, it had an imperfection on it that we pointed out several times to BJ but she kept insisting that it was just an issue with the casting and refused to fix it. Anyways, we were sick and tired of driving all the way across town every week so we just accepted it and assumed we could polish out the imperfection later. Because how were we supposed to know? A few months after our wedding, we took a necklace to a different jeweler down the street for some work. Asked him if he could polish the imperfection on the ring. Immediately he knew it wasn't solid gold. Showed us on the microscope - the imperfection was actually a CHIP in the top layer of gold and there was some non gold metal underneath. He also did a scratch test for us to show that the metal underneath was not gold. I've attached a photo of the imperfection under the microscope and you can clearly see, it is not gold underneath. We called L'Oliphant to ask them, Christina picked up the phone and was very kind and assured us they would make it right but that we could take it to an independent coin shop that does gold scanning to be sure. We followed her recommendation and paid $50 for the written report. The gold shop scanned the ring right in front of us where the imperfection was and showed us that it had nickel and iron in it. No gold ring should have nickel or iron, and the shop owners actually told us that they wouldn't even buy that kind of ring because the gold layer on top is essentially worthless due to the alloy content inside. This gold shop is a highly reputable business with 500+ Yelp reviews and a 4.8 star rating - so we have no reason not to believe them. I've attached a video of the scan (sped up, as Yelp does not allow videos over 30s). When we brought the scan proof and ring back to L'Oliphant, BJ took zero responsibility and immediately denied everything, stating that "other jewelers have it out for us here" and that "some people put acid on their jewelry" and also that "the scanner may not have been calibrated correctly" so she needed to test it herself. She took out a literal magnet and showed us that it did not stick to the ring. Amazing. I asked if she had her scanner or even some microscope to look at it in store and she said no, that she'd have to take the ring and scan it within the next two weeks. My husband pushed her to refund us the original amount, which she did, but that was the BARE MINIMUM in making this right for us. BJ took the ring and told us she would test the ring HERSELF. This is the only test we've had without transparency where we won't be able to see the results with our eyes. To add insult to injury - she had one of her shop associates call us to tell us a week later that, miraculously, the ring is solid gold based on her tests. I already know she will respond to my review denying this - she can deny all she wants but we took the ring and had it verified by TWO independent sources and both sources confirmed it was not solid gold. The worst part was - the imperfection on the ring was already there the day we bought it. It never should have been sold to us like that, but I'm truly grateful it was there, as we probably would not have found out that the ring was fake until years later. I would not recommend doing business with L'Oliphant.

One of the Worst Experiences I've Ever Had - DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!…read more The entire process with Brilliant Earth has been a nightmare. What should have been a simple resizing turned into a months-long ordeal that has completely ruined special time in our lives and STILL end up with NO RING. To summarize a very long and frustrating story: On May 12, my boyfriend dropped off my engagement ring at the Santa Monica store (originally purchased at the La Jolla location) to get it resized. We were told the process would take a couple of weeks, but the ring wasn't ready until June 13, more than two weeks later than promised. When we went to pick it up, we were shocked to find that they had completely altered my ring, changing the metal from yellow gold to white gold. It was an entirely different ring. This wasn't a miscommunication, it was a major mistake caused by incorrect instructions submitted by Dimitri Nardini, the associate at the Santa Monica location who processed the ring. That error alone turned the entire experience into a disaster. We had to send the ring back and wait again. Even worse, no one from Brilliant Earth reached out to notify us of the mistake. We had to chase updates ourselves, doing our own follow-up just to get any answers. Dimitri did not reply to follow-up emails from my boyfriend asking for clarification and support. There was zero communication or accountability from him. We had to follow up ourselves not only with employee of the store but with corporate just to get basic answers. The lack of professionalism and basic courtesy was astounding. On July 3, we returned again hoping to finally pick up the corrected ring, but the craftsmanship was just awful. The side stones were asymmetrical, the prongs were all different sizes, and it looked sloppy and poorly made. See three attached photos below, which I took in store. Once again, we had to escalate the issue ourselves because the sense of urgency in communication to us as paying customers was nonexistent. Eventually, we got someone from corporate involved, Jillian J., Customer Experience Associate, Resolutions, hoping that corporate oversight would fix the problem. It didn't. We were sent photos of the "corrected" ring, on July 28th, and the quality was still terrible. The attached photos ("professional" photos at warehouse) show the ring after corporate stepped in, which is honestly a joke. If this is the standard Jillian and the corporate office signs off on, it says everything about how little this company actually cares. She might want to reconsider whether she's in the right role, because we saw no resolution and no urgency to fix what had become an exhausting, months-long issue, other than offering empty words of sympathy. Brilliant Earth markets itself as a premium brand, but what we experienced was sloppy work, poor internal communication, and total disregard for the emotional importance of an engagement ring. I would rather go to Kay Jewelers. This review could easily be three pages long if I outlined everything in detail but I've wasted too much time on this company. I would NEVER RECOMMEND Brilliant Earth to anyone. They've wasted our time and energy. They have caused so much heartache. Lost memories. A complete disappointment from start to finish. Sidenote: I originally (and accidentally) posted this review under Brilliant Earth's West Hollywood Yelp page, but that location had my review taken down. Apparently even West Hollywood doesn't want to be associated with the disaster that is the Santa Monica store. Though the fact is, my review applies to the entire company and brand.
