Frewsburg Lanes - Sorry I look rough, I just got over being on death's doorstep with covid.

This place literally blew my mind! Let me just start out by…read moresaying that I'm NOT a bowler. However, I'm a huge fan of antiques and time capsule type places. I had covid so this is the first time I've been without long nails since I was like 13yo. I was testing negative, feeling better, and stir crazy from being stuck inside. I started googling things to do and absolutely fell in love with this gem of a bowling alley. The place is a beautifully maintained antique bowling alley. It's so much fun! I haven't bowled since I was 12yo, but was having such a blast we bowled 3 games! Super friendly welcoming owner/bartender/alley attendant. Polished beautiful lanes. Huge selection of clean shoes and balls. $4 a person a game! $1 to rent shoes a game. Free pencil and score paper. Free barrow a ball areas. $3.50 ice cold yuengling bottles! They have a full bar, snacks, and milkshakes. All very reasonably priced! Spotlessly clean well maintained antique chairs&score tables. Spotlessly clean dry carpets vacuumed and disinfected after you leave your boots at the door and walk in in your socks. Hand sanitizer at the bar and tables by the lanes. Great classic rock music really makes you feel like you're in the 60s and 70s. They open at 2pm and open the full bar at 2pm too. I had so much fun I'm waiting to get my nails done so I can go play there again. I'm a nail girl so that's saying A LOT. I can't recommend this place enough!

Now, I will start off by saying I am quite biased, since this is our teams home lanes, but It is…read morethe best alley in the area. the place feel like you are going back to 1970, has wood lanes that are oiled well most of the time, and they have a huge selection of donated balls to use if you don't have your own like me. The owner, Bill Pownall, is a great guy who knows more about bowling and what balls to buy than anybody I know. The place originated as a bar, but was turned into a bowling alley, which means that there is a whole ass bar up front with a huge selection of drinks and snacks that are completely underpriced. Bowling is super cheap too, at 4 dollars per game. If you are a bowler for another team having to play a match here against us, just know that you will lose by 200 pins because I know that you bowl on synthetic lanes and your ball is going to over hook, + your lines will wear down after one game and you wont know what to do about it. I recomend that you bowl with either a pearl, urethane or just use a plastic and put a shitload of revs on it.

A trip back in time...looking for a cold beer and appetizer but did not want a long wait, stumbled…read moreupon the Arena. Gave it a try and we walked in like a scene from a movie, the handful of locals at the bar gave us a once over. Found our way to a table, fella came from behind the bar and took it appetizer and drinks order. Cheese fries of sorts were very yummy. The Arena is connected to a bowling alley and does have a stage of sorts, looks like either live music or karaoke might take place. TVs are available to watch sporting events but the TVs might be 10+ year old, not the highest resolution by any means. Looking for a beer and opportunity to do some people watching be sure to visit the Arena.

Just went to The Arena Bar and Grill (attached to the bowling alley in State College). WOW! This…read moreplace is seriously underrated. The food was incredible. Our table got cheesy garlic bread, a hot honey pepperoni pizza, and a sweet bourbon BBQ and bacon pulled chicken sandwich and fries and all the food was to die for. Everything was so fresh. Possibly my new favorite restaurant in town. We spoke with the manager that says they do karaoke nights, poker nights, paint nights, murder mystery dinners, etc there all the time. Not to mention the darts, pool tables, and bowling. If you have never been here or haven't been here lately, I highly recommend it.
