I have been going to Jim's Place for months, but after today I will not spend a dime of my money there. The owner and day manager have finally pushed me to the point of no return. I should add that I have won a fair amount of money at Jim's and have left tips for each of the women that work there between $40 and $120 depending on the amount I won. Pros: Three of the regular part-time employees that work at Jim's Place are the most wonderful women you will ever meet. They are friendly, they treat customers with respect, and are extremely professional. Jim's has one of the VIP Lounge machines and there are only two others in the area. If you like this machine, you will also find one at Flamingo Slots in Urbana and Jupiter's at the Crossing. Cons: The daytime employee who works full-time for Jim's Place is rude, unprofessional, and treats each customer differently. She is a bully who has no place interacting with customers. Of course, it is easy for me to write these words, but they do not mean anything without solid examples, so here it goes. She regularly complains to customers about her job. She has announced how the owner is a micro-manager and she can't stand it. Additionally, she complains that she doesn't get paid enough and has no benefits. She has announced to customers that she will be leaving to move to Indianapolis in June with her daughter (who also works at Jim's part-time), so she is hanging on until that happens. This is highly unprofessional. Customers do NOT want to hear about employee woes. Additionally, she makes NO effort to conceal her dislike for customers. She has regularly said, "It's better for me when no one comes in," and seems bothered when a personal phone call or smoke break is interrupted." Once again, this is not an appropriate attitude for someone who is supposed to be managing a place like Jim's. Of more importance, is her treatment of specific customers. She has favorites and if you are not one of them, she is rude and short. She has not only treated me this way, but I have witnessed her treat others the same. Additionally, she talks about customers, sometimes while they are playing. She is judgmental about the frequency that people visit and the amount of money that they spend. Also, whenever there is an incident with a customer, she announces it to everyone. For example, a few weeks ago a regular customer gambled quite a bit of money and then returned to say that someone broke in his car and stole hundreds worth of cash. These types of things should NOT be shared with ANYONE. Unfortunately my recent schedule has not allowed me to visit Jim's when the manager has been there, so I have made some comments to employees about the things that I have typed above. Today, when I walked into Jim's, she approached me to talk to me. I was told that the manager asked her to speak with me because I made their employee uncomfortable when I complained a couple of days ago. I was told that all complaints must be brought to her or the owner. However, in the past I did that. Her daughter (who doesn't fall far from the tree) made EXTREME judgments about how much money I was gambling with one evening a few months ago. Even if she knew about my life, my budget, my finances, this is still in appropriate. I kindly approached her about it. After that, she was rude to me each time I came in. I brought this to Tracy's attention. It was brushed off and I was told "I'm not going to say anything to her because I don't want her to blow up on you here." WTF!!!????!!! So much for the customer is always right!!! I was also told that I made others uncomfortable by standing behind them when they were playing, which is something I NEVER do because I don't like people behind me. Perhaps I was getting cash out of their slow ATM machine, perhaps I paused to look if someone won on the way to the bathroom, I'm not sure. One little old lady that is regular, once asked Me about how I play some games, so one day I stood behind her a bit, but it was with her permission. I was also told that I made someone uncomfortable because they were speaking Spanish and I spoke Spanish. The conversation was rude and they were saying mean things, so I spoke in Spanish to let them know I understood what they were saying. When I told the day employee that I would not be returning to Jim's, her response was, "I think that is best." So, I will gladly take my high-tipping butt to another locale that values me. If you are looking for a new gaming place, I strongly urge you not to visit Jim's. The management has no idea what customer service is or how to provide it on a regular basis nor do they encourage professionalism from the person who they pay to work the most hours there. If you REALLY want to go and you value good customer service, I urge you to wait and visit when this employee leaves or when one of the other wonderful women are working. Jims place is my go to when it comes to slots. The enviroment is friendly,clean and fun. the staff is tremendous they are very attentive to your needs, each and every one of the jims staff that ive encountered has been top notch. Tracie has a special place in my heart because she works so hard to make the atmosphere as comfy as possible,shes very knowledgable about the machines and any other questions that i may have. And the apple dosent fall far from the tree....Id give jims 10 stars of i could!!!! If you have not been to Jims go and check it out youll walk out with a smile even if you lost! read more

There are plenty of places in the area to play slots, but the atmosphere here is over the top, employees outgoing..... friendly and greet you when you enter. There is a small lounge area with a TV, plenty of snaks and complimentary non alcoholic beverages. They have Happy Hour $1 beer 5 days a week also. There is plenty of security also to feel safe from the time they are open until close. Their hours are 11am to 11pm. read more

I have went to Jim's place a few times. I haven't had the extreme negative experience described in one of the other reviews. But, I asked for a punch card and the woman working told me that "we only give them out to certain customers." I decided to go to a place that appreciates ALL customers. read more

Jim's Place is the best gaming establishment in C-U. I have been many times and never been disappointed. I love the atmosphere and find it very relaxing to play their machines. I would highly recommend Jim's Place to all my friends/family and, in fact, have done so. read more

Nice place, but the two times that I went in there the person behind the counter was talking about Trump and politics, so I left. I probably won't go back for awhile. I really like one of the other new places--Lucy's Place. read more
