Stay as far away from this agency as possible, especially an agent named Jim Hubbard. He is as unprofessional as they come. I talked to him about getting home owners insurance through AAA, which he represents, and answered all of his questions, and he gave me a quote for $657.00 a year, paid every three months. I agreed to that, and so he sent me papers to sign, stating the $657.00 a year, and showing that it was on $157,000 for the dwelling, and $94,000 for personal property. I signed the papers returned them, and also had to give this Jim Hubbard my bank account number as AAA takes your premiums out of your account. On the designated day, they did deduct the correct amount, and then 10 days later I received my insurance papers, and was outraged when I opened them.
They had upped my premium to $979.00 a year, with $274,035 on the dwelling, and they added on an additional $27,403 for other structures, of which I have no other structures on my property and the personal property was raised to $164,421, which is twice the amount that any house in this neighborhood is now selling for itself, let alone the worth of the property in it. I immediately called Jim Hubbard, who had been so nice and friendly when he wanted my business, and all I got was a very rude and condescending man, who thought that I had no reason to be angry at all about this situation. He basically told me that he refused to talk to me, and that I needed to shut up and listen to him, and then he told me to call him when I find other insurance, and he would cancel mine.
My question is, who would not be upset by this BS, when they increased the amount so much, and no one EVER came to even look at my home? I have filed a complaint with the Missouri Dept of Insurance, and hope they come down on this insidious company, from this Jim Hubbard, to his agency, all the way up to AAA itself. I was told by a woman at the Dept of Insurance that any company has 60 days to revise their coverage and charge, but that to increase it by 50% is way out of line and ridiculous, so either AAA is a fraud, or this Mr. Hubbard is inept at his job, or both. read more
