Before ordering my orthodics they checked my insurance to make sure it was covered, it was approved as it always has been and the ordered them. I then got a bill for the full amount saying my insurance declined to pay! I called the insurance company and they said Physicians Footcare used the wrong billing code that they submitted something to do with an ankle. They told me to call the office, tell them to ask for the latest billing code. I called the office and they were useless and said to call billing. I called billing snd they said it was an office issue. I called the office back and they transferred me back to billing. So I explained they used the wrong code and needed to call the insurance. Their reply was "We don't need to call anyone, the insurance denied it and you signed a paper that said you would pay so pay your bill!" I told them the insurance did not refuse to pay for the orthodics they refused to pay for some stupid ankle thing you submitted! They said too bad you pay or we put you into collection. It says on the bill that if its incorrect mail a letter to a PO Box in Maine. I did that and got a bill only for the copay which I paid. 3 months later I get a bill for the full amount again and there is nobody to talk to. Stay far away from these scammers and by the way the practice itself does crap work since my Doctor left them.

When I came to buy insoles today, the office was closed, with no information posted. It is supposed to be open 8-1 today. I called and was told by an answering service that yes, the office was closed. Staff didn't show up.

In the last several days I have developed (very painful) plantar fasciitis and having been treated…read moreby Dr. Sadler (not for pf) several years ago, I phoned to see about making an appointment. I did explain that I was leaving the country for 2 months on June 24th and needed help. The earliest appointment was June 29th. Goood bye. What ever happened to flexibility and compassion? It no longer exists.

I sought treatment from Dr. Trenton Statler (Podiatry Associates of Beaufort) in January, 2018 for…read moreankle/arch pain and swelling from toes up to knee (after a recent hiking trip). When I made the appointment, I had concerns that a podiatrist might not be able to treat my issue but I was assured by the staff to keep the appointment and Dr. Statler would refer me to an orthopedist and further testing if needed. I was under the care of Dr. Statler for almost 4 weeks. In that 4 weeks time, I had two office visits with him (one every 2 weeks). I expressed concern about pain and swelling in my foot/ankle (including my calf) in my initial visit. Dr. Statler put me in a boot with an initial diagnosis of tendinitis. I then came back for a follow up appointment in 2 weeks. When I came back for my follow up appointment 2 weeks later, the foot/leg had become totally unusable and swelling was NOT receding in the foot/calf/leg after following his treatment instructions. Dr. Statler told me the cause of my continued swelling was two main reasons: 1). I was getting older (though I'm a healthy active 48 year old female) and 2). I was using the leg/foot too much. To make a long story short, my condition was worsening and a nurse friend of mine encouraged I get a 2nd opinion. I finally got an outside 2nd opinion from an orthopedist in Hilton Head. Within 30 minutes of assessment, the orthopedist quickly surmised that I might have bloodclot(s) in the injured area. The orthopedist immediately ordered an ultrasound which showed 2 DVT Bloodclots in the injured area. By nightfall, I had an emergency admission to the hospital with diagnosis of DVT bloodclots and pulmonary embolisms. Over the course of those weeks of treatment under Dr. Statler's care, the bloodclots had broken off into large pieces, traveled through my veins and heart - resulting in multiple pulmonary embolisms in both lungs. I've since learned that I had ALL of the classic symptoms of DVT bloodclots from my leg/foot injury and Dr. Statler missed ALL the classic signs/symptoms. Thankfully, I am now discharged from the hospital and recovering at home. If you have a unexplained issue and the diagnosis from Dr. Statler seems questionable, PLEASE get yourself a 2nd opinion. It might just save your life. A 2nd opinion SAVED MY LIFE! In short, I am very disappointed that Dr. Statler only did a minimal xray of my foot from the ankle down. He should have ordered more follow up tests or at least referred me to an orthopedist for my worsening condition. But Dr. Statler did none of these things and I almost died. A lot of personal pain and expense could have been avoided if Dr. Statler had given me a referral or proper testing/diagnosis. I simply wrote this review because I want others to be aware of what happened to me. If it can save another life, this review was worth it. I called Dr. Statler's office and apprised them of my hospital admission and subsequent diagnoses. I am yet to receive a call back or any communications from their office.
