We booked our tickets online couple of hours before. There are plenty of options with various difficulty levels to choose from. We decided to go for the Cabin in the Woods. Jigsaw is located right next to Zaks Dinner. There are stairs that leads downstairs, jigsaw is located on the right. It's dark and mysterious in there. You sign a waiver and are taken to your room. They provide a brief story of what took place. Cabin in the woods, was a dark room. You have the option to be hand cuffed. We had a blast in there. We were definitely challenged for sure. We certainly took advantage of the unlimited clues. The youngest in the crowd was 13, we had a great time with the family. Highly recommend. $30/person read more

Jigsaw did not disappoint! We had signed up for the Diamond Heist. We were allotted 60 minutes which was just enough time to complete the puzzles. Hints were greatly appreciated (unlimited but 2-3 to be considered successful per staff). The puzzles were challenging but pleasantly so; and ultimately a gratifying experience once solved. Highly recommend if looking for a group activity! Of note: this hidden gem is located in Byward market, so free parking can be scarce at time. Take this into account when attempting to arrive on time. read more

We came to Jigsaw Escape Rooms on Fri 30 Aug 19. The entrance is located nearby the Blue Cactus restaurant in the Byward Market area, very easily walkable. In the reception area is a bar, various tables/chairs & sofas. You can order a BEvERage while you and your group wait for your appointment time to challenge a room, and there are plenty of little puzzle games/toys for you to play with as well. We did "The Castle" and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The staff were very helpful throughout the 45 mins allotted time. Without spoiling anything.... some of the props were very authentic!!! What an amazing experience!! Highly recommend - I've done 2 different rooms and I'm excited to try the others. These escape rooms are so well crafted, and unique in comparison to others I have tried in the city and/or abroad. Definitely a must try!! For those that have concerns due to COVID (as I did - especially as I brought my kids along for the adventure), they have very strict cleaning protocols that included a thorough top to bottom sanitization of each and every game room after every session. They also ensure all participants are double vaxxed and have thoroughly used hand sanitized prior to entering the game room, which makes this a fun and safe outing to do even during the pandemic. Thanks for offering such an entertaining experience by providing this hidden gem in the Byward Market that feels like a mini-escape from the current reality. Our experience was good at Jigsaw, we got out of "The Cabin" room. It was our first time with Jigsaw, but our group has done escape rooms before. It was fun but I didn't feel like the staff was as into the story telling part of the experience which sets the mood. The puzzles were fun, but there was one puzzle in the room that had a note that came with it saying " if your group doesn't know how to use the item feel free to ask and it wouldn't count as a hint", but it takes time from the escape. I feel that they should assume no one knows how to use it going in, and teach everyone that they will be running into this item somewhere in the room, and show the group how to use it. Jigsaw escapes allows your group 2 hints to be considered a successful escape. Our group only took the 2 hints in the final 5 minutes of the escape. We got out, but we had to take an extra 15seconds to do so. I feel this was due to fumbling around with the item that had the note attached to it, we knew what the item was and how to use it, but some of our members felt that some of the features on it were to be used, when they really didn't have any practicality or use in the situation. They take a picture of your group at the end, and they supply you with signs for the photo. Which makes for a cute souvenir. The signs consists of win and fail messages depending on your group experience. But you can choose the sign you want, so you can lie about getting out when you didn't if you want. Haha read more

We did the Butcher room, and it started very well. Clues were interesting, challenging, but reasonable. Required connecting a lot of dots, we had a group of seven and were doing pretty well. Reason for a one star review is that one if the final clues DIDN'T WORK. We messed with it over and over, but couldn't get it solved. Finally when our time was up the hostess came in and was trying to show us how to do it, and she couldn't get it working either. And even worse, she couldn't skip the clue and let us keep going, it was locked and there was nothing that she could do. We didn't get an offer for a free room later, just the same 10% discount card that I'm sure that they give everyone and a few beers. Was a fun evening, that ended on a pretty annoying note. Did this as a group of friends and had an awesome time. It was the first time I'd done an escape room challenge and I was impressed. We did the Heist. It was definitely challenging.. Lots of puzzles to solve but nothing crazy hard. We were able to escape but by the skin of our teeth! I will go back to do the other two rooms. read more

My bachelorette party did the CSI room. The room was designed for 7, but they let us add an 8th. Although the building is not accessible (there are stairs, not their fault) the doorways were wide and the rooms are flat. Once we got our wheelchair user down the stairs she did not face further issues. The 3 hints available were essential to our completion of the room. We didn't actually escape in the allotted time, but when the time was up we were given an extra hint and allowed to work until we did solve the puzzle. Part of a clue was MISSING from our room, we connected some dots without it thanks to some trial and error. The staff did not take our picture when we were done. We asked a random bystander and the results were disappointing, so our group really didn't come away with a souvenir. Overall the 8 of us all really enjoyed this escape. read more

We did the hardest room "The Heist" with less then 5% success rate, and we beat it! It was my first Escape Room try and loved it. It was really fun, and I would do the Heist Again soon. Jigsaw is really small and has only 3 escape rooms, but the Quality is great! Rules are simple, and nothing to hard. My friend and I did the Castle room. Good immersion, a couple of the puzzles were very challenging, and we didn't quite get to the last part of the room. Attendants were friendly and helpful. We would do the other rooms there for sure. read more

For our summer vacation this year (July/Aug), our family of three decided on a stay-cation and did a bunch of Escape Rooms in Ottawa. We completed 15 "escapes" in 10 days, and had a blast! While discussing our vacation with family/friends, I was asked to rank the rooms in terms of which were our favourites; this is difficulty as each "room" had different elements that were cool or unique. I'll review them chronologically and try my best not to give too many details that will spoil the fun of the puzzles/room. (The overall ranking was based on the gestalt of atmosphere, puzzle quality and fun factor. The lower the number the more we liked it. eg. Rank 1 out of 15, means this was our favourite. Rank 15 of 15, means this was our least favourite.) Jigsaw Escapes - The Study - (5 stars) This was the first escape room we did on our vacation. The lighting level was good. The room size was comfortable. The quality and variety of puzzles was good. The room decor was good. This room would be suitable for families with younger kids; though the kids may not find it as fun as some of the other rooms we've done. (Our daughter was 13.) Our team of three managed to complete the room with 11 minutes to spare. Rank 8 out of 15. Jigsaw Escapes - The Cabin (1.5 stars) Because we liked The Study so much, we did a second room at Jigsaw right afterwards. The lighting level was dark. The room size felt smaller than The Study. There was one innovative puzzle that I thought was really quite cool. The other puzzles were good, but rather difficult to see and enjoy in the very dim lighting. The room decor was not visible enough in the dark to be appreciated. I do not think that this room would be suitable for families with young kids, or people who don't like the dark or claustrophobic places (which I admit I am one of) or those who don't like constraints. (Hopefully, I'm not giving away too much about the room.) Our team of three did manage to complete the room, but I think we may have been just slightly over the 45 min limit. But due to the darkness & constraints I did not like or enjoy this room. However, my husband and daughter thought it was okay. It was the weakest of the three rooms Jigsaw currently has to offer. Rank 14 out of 15. Jigsaw Escapes - The Heist (5 stars) This was the ninth escape room we did on vacation. The room was a good size. The lighting was good. The puzzles were varied and fun. The decor matched the them of the room well. This is definitely a room that a family with kids could work cooperatively to solve!
