I had called the "local" number and spoke to a man about a state inspection for my truck. He told me (at 10:30 AM) that his inspection guy was there till 12. I said I could be there in 15 to 20 minutes. would that be OK. He said yes, and there was currently a 20 minute wait. I asked him if he was actually at the location, because it sounded like a call center. He said yes this is the Maple Avenue location. He was lying and I wasted my time going there because when I arrived, I was told there was no one available that day to do inspections, and they had not received any calls yet that day. Thank God I didn't drive a half hour to get there, and was able to go to Jiffy Lube to get my inspection. I will never use Valvoline again.

I guess all the friends I referred failed to drop my name! In any event, I am rescinding my recommendation after taking this bath. Hopefully, my previous super-positive review successfully deleted. My advice: don't drive past other mechanics to reach Viele's if you are in a bind. Expect that the price will suck, take your lumps, and move on. Be safe. No more reasonable prices for out-of-towners here. (Work was still sufficient on this hard-to-botch brake job, hence, I'll refrain from giving the lowest possible rating despite experiencing the lowest possible satisfaction.)

I'd trust them with any repairs I needed to any vehicle I have ever owned. Number One: THE SHOP IS CLEAN! You can all but eat off the garage floors. I can see that the bays and tools are organized and handy from looking in from outside, and that's a key signature of professional mechanics and management. The office and waiting area are clean as a whistle too; and everyone is very polite and friendly in addition to being knowledgeable and helpful. Prices are VERY fair, and they'll quote you up front for any work to be done. For maintenance, repairs, and towing I rely on Viele's as my go to and recommend them every chance I get.

Explained my situation and was told it could be done right away. Got an estimate of over $700, and even though I knew that was a bit on the high side for the job, I agreed to have it done. Not even 2 hours later, I got a call from them, that the job was done. $60 for a gallon of coolant/antifreeze, and I had just paid $25 for a gallon of recommended coolant. Of which, one gallon in, one gallon out. that's when I figured it was more than likely the waterpump. And, for the sake of an hour and a half, I got charged $240 for labor. At just over 2 hours worth of labor, how much are they charging for it? Seems like $120-$150/hour. And for a job that barely took an hour and a half, Hmmm!! Anyway, happy that they got my vehicle in immediately, but not happy with their pricing. 20 years ago, I could have done this job myself for well less than 1/2 of that. But considering I'm now in my 60's, just don't have what it takes(tools, facility, or physical condition to do it anymore. Never again. Tired of being legally robbed.

Approximately 2 weeks later on a trip to Nashville Tennessee the repair failed while drivng down the highway 1100 miles from home. The failure almost caused my tire to fall off. I was able to get it to the side of the highway and towed to a local garage. Without any prior knowledge of a recent repair the mechanic in Tennessee noted the cv axle nut was cross threaded and caused the failure. When approached, Lee got defensive and claimed by the pictures he saw it was caused by a different part in the wheel even though the mechanic who had hands and eyes on it noted the failure was caused by the cross thread. Instead of taking responsibility Lee decided to lie about his conversation with the mechanic in Tennessee and then proceeded to offer me less than half the cost of repair in order to make this go away. Now im forced to sue him and make sure everyone knows the hack job his garage did. ​​

But, they also fixed (or faked) other 'problems' that we didn't ask about, for a total cost five times what we expected going in! We took our car in for an A/C recharge and oil change. Somehow they decided we needed new wheel bearings ($$$), even though we weren't having any problems. We couldn't even tell that they actually did anything. When we came to pick up our car, Boyer's had drained the battery to the point where the dash wouldn't light up. We had never had a problem starting the car prior to this. So we had to leave it there. When they replaced the battery a week later, they not only charged us the full price for the problem they had caused, they also tacked on some small charges for other 'fixes' we hadn't approved. This included new headlamps (I happen to have checked the headlamps just before bringing the car in and they were working fine then) and adding oil (I guess they forgot they had just changed the oil!)
