He replastered 2 ceiling holes, and 2 holes by my banister left by the guy who repaired it, and he repaired a huge crack in the ceiling above the stairs that I didn't even ask him to do because I thought it was hopeless. Not for JT! He also expanded a hole in my cabinet so that my new microwave cord could fit, repaired my oven door handle, installed 2 fire alarms and an exhaust fan. When the cord that came with the fan didn't reach the plug, he spliced a 3 prong extension cord and used that instead. Brilliant! He cleaned up everything. I highly recommend JT Handyman Service with no reservations and will definitely hire him again.

Our back deck had been a disaster since we moved into our house. It was a previous homeowner DIY…read moreproject that was used with incorrect materials, and because of this it was causing the deck to sag in multiple locations. It also did not have any steps for access to the backyard. We spent a year and a half contacting contractor after contractor, no one wanted to help us get our deck up to par. Not one person that came out to look at the deck would give us an estimate on what it would take to fix the deck. Some told us they would only give us pricing for a new deck, others just ghosted us all together. Enter Mark Skerlec. Mark listened to our needs and then gave us a variety of options that could rectify the issues with the deck. After making our final decisions Mark quickly scheduled a date to begin his work. He was clean, he was quick, and he did incredible work. Our deck no longer sags. It no longer bounces when you walk on it. I also finally have direct access to the backyard. The most amazing part is Mark was able to take the time to match up the parts he used with the current design of the deck. Looking at it you would never know that it was once a monstrous atrocity. It is one complete, beautiful unit. It looks great. And I couldn't be any happier. Next time I need work done, interior or exterior, there won't even be multiple calls. Mark Skerlec is the only contractor I will use.

Well the crew from LVL has had our house for two and a half months - it was a transformation from the basement to the roof. It is beautiful. The attention to detail, the quality of the work- it is unbeatable. They put in a new French drain system and properly sealed the entire basement, creating additional living space for our teen girls. They replaced all the uneven floors and made the entire home not only much more functional- but breathtakingly gorgeous. The problem is then the left the house unfinished, never completing it. Six months later- their electrical work caused a house fire. Repeated attempts to rectify the issues failed until the owner of LaVillaLux just stopped talking to us altogether. Not the best way to do business. Really sad at the outcome.

All of his jobs have problems: 1 - Floor: He didn't leave any gap (1/4 inch for expansion is standard) from the walls. There was a water leak which I notified him about, he finished the job and didn't check. I found there was still water everywhere after a week... Good thing I decided to redo the floor. 2 - Stairs: I was going to redo the stairs later anyway since the finish wasn't as nice as I hoped. After using it for a day; I almost tripped on the nose trim. It was a loose and I found most of them were loose and poorly finished. 3 - Walls: I was actually okay with this job and he was supposed to prep the wall for painting. After 3 coats of paint, the wall looks ugly due to poor or no prepping... I also paid him to build a fence, he acted like he was confident but he clearly lacked tools and knowledge. It was installed way too high and I told him it wasn't going to pass the permit inspection. He swore up and down this was okay and it failed... I still paid him and asked him to take the fence down but he ghosted me.

We chose them based on: responsive and high quality communication, solid reputation with good reviews, and a highly knowledgeable crew. We love hiring businesses where we can directly with the business owners -- and in this case Shannon and Nelson did not disappoint! For the initial meeting and estimate, Shannon assessed our existing deck and spoke for us about what options we had for replacing the existing footprint. We discussed pricing and various material options. As a pro Trex installer he shared the magnitude of color options we had for the deck and railing, bringing by the sample materials for us to view in our home. Having young kids, we wanted to make sure the area was safe for them by adding a gate -- they found the closest match and ensured it secured the area. When it came to the build, they handled our deck permit with the borough and ensured all was set before getting started. Nelson and the crew promptly arrived early every day and if there were any changes we were informed ahead of time. The crew was super helpful in providing us with daily updates and communicated with us every step of the way -- which is not the case with all contractors! The team worked hard to wrap the posts and take the deck itself to the next level (instead of leaving the posts as treated wood). Steps can be tricky, but the crew built our new steps. Not only are they safe, but they are comfortably set so that anyone in my family from kids to older folks have no issues going up and down. We love our new deck and I hope you trust Build with MD for your next deck replacement! We'll be using them again soon for more interior remodel and exterior work. If you need a deck, remodel, siding, or more -- Build with MD should be your next call!
