"Happy Juneteenth 2024" to all students and faculty/ staff or employees!…read moreOh it's a bummer the adult public swimming day passes are no longer active or current. Instead Horacio at best reported the place was only open to new ASUC Cal employees, faculty, staff and part staff to use the swimming pool. I appreciate public adult swimming that is currently open and active in Strawberry Canyon near the Greek theatre. I gathered on the third floor and large table conference room office to create access to WI-FI and go online a lot faster. I had a good reason talking to the swimming pool attendant whom shared more information about new CAL jobs. When I first worked for ASUC CAL Berkeley particularly packaging and pricing alumni wear at the where house shipments and for the campus textbook center ASUC CAL Berkeley. It's a big deal today's holiday for Juneteenth with everything going on in the country now and black history. It's good to consider on a day like unto today and the joy and courage with others on this Federal Holiday commemorating Slaves in the Civil War. Horacio and I honored those to be remembered and he didn't fail to communicate the new job opportunity in the women's locker rooms and swimming. I really appreciate that he mentioned it. It's really important that people feel safe. It just posted for a women's custodial position because they are short staffed. And he was asking me to give it a chance! It is very important to find common ground in this democracy. Indeed an open position was welcomed to me. The faculty, staff, and students believed it was constructive to have a new job working for ASUC CAL Berkeley. The staff and students were willing to contribute similarly when I walked into the building with my bicycle particularly. So socializing with modesty meant everything to me. Tosh LUPOI , my beloved brother was a former student and scholarship athlete that graduated from CAL and went onto coaching NFL nationally recognized Football for Alabama; Crimson Tide, Washington Huskies football team, The Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville, Jaguars football and currently coaches for The Oregon Ducks U of O in Eugene, OR. My dad coached football too. Both football coaches! In the 1980's our family owned a sports medicine business for serious injuries to Olympic athletes and professional race car drivers, too! I think I became mute around others thinking and anticipating that I would re-apply to CAL and by the way logged into Access for WI-FI. Keeping my iPhone in my pocket on the third floor with my road bicycle. My public perception is that I want to feel comfortable as a person and swimmer. Paying tribute to Juneteenth and the principles of freedom and light triumphing over darkness. Celebrating our history and forgetting TRUMP and racist conspiracies about Barack Obama. These intentions in contrast to pilgrims going after the Indians. The debate was over powered with my new confidence for new leading job opportunities. Horacio gave me pricing costs moments after I met him with my road bicycle and verified swimming costs and compliance with pool policies that are offered to employees only or faculty members. Most swimmers are articulate and totally bright or committed! Also thanking Abraham Lincoln for freeing the slaves in the south. Swimming was admissible years ago for the public adult swims. We openly talked about the status with this custodial care position which would be a new responsibility and duty by cleaning and maintenance of women's locker rooms. All my questions were resolved with the good looking guy and man in charge. Thanks so much directly for serving me with constructive support. Encouragement to reestablish contact and pursue a career long term visible right now to protect my future. Opening the door to strength not weakness to democracy that cannot be found anywhere else but with ASUC CAL careers. Horacio suggested swimmers are something strategic to come by seeking ASUC CAL employment. You name it! I really think it's a great idea too! This addressed the common issue with confidence described often by swimmers as a key priority. There is a president here with exercise as planned when relations are better. Kind regards, Sincerely, Sierradawn LUPOI

The Wright Institute in Berkeley is a great place to receive affordable mental health services…read more It is a private graduate school of psychology specializing in educating clinicians and giving them real world experience before they become professional therapists. These students have done all the course work and need hours in the field of psychology before they get their licenses. I have a therapist I see once a week for part of their semester and it resolves in July. These students are educated and can help you through phase of life challenges. This is my second time receiving counseling and previously I received therapy 10 years ago. They charge on a sliding scale and offer some stability during challenging times. They also offer group therapy sessions and you may drop in whenever your schedule permits and the cost is $15 per session. Although I have not partaken in the group therapy sessions, I have heard many good things about them and considering joining a few. What I like a lot about the Wright Institue is I feel as though the students really try hard and seem to care very much with what you're going through and are very helpful to help you process what your priorities are and what you hope to gain from the therapy sessions. Finding a therapist in the real world is as challenging as finding your partner in life so it can take a while. That's why I feel that the Wright Institute is a great way to get started in therapy. They're located near UC Berkeley campus and the parking can be challenging. But there is affordable metered parking up and down Durant Street and the duration is for 2-4 hours.

I appreciated the knowledge and dedication of several faculty members, and there were definitely professors who contributed positively to my education. Unfortunately, my experience with the administration was very different. I often felt that students were discouraged from expressing opinions that differed from the administration's perspective. There was a strong sense that speaking openly or disagreeing with certain views could have negative consequences, including feeling excluded or "blacklisted." This created an environment where I felt I had to be very careful about what I said rather than feeling comfortable engaging in honest, respectful dialogue. The experience could also feel extremely isolating. For a program that is supposed to prepare students for a profession centered on openness, empathy, and understanding different perspectives, I found this aspect particularly disappointing. Ultimately, while I had some very positive experiences with individual professors, the administrative culture significantly affected my overall experience. I would encourage prospective students to look beyond the quality of the professors and carefully consider the culture and relationship between students and administration before making a significant financial and personal investment in the program.

So I was taking the part-time Data Analytics boot camp hosted by Trilogy Education for the past 6…read moremonths AND...I just graduated from it!! Yay!! Go me!! Hehe ANYWAYS, when I started this boot camp I thought maybe I'll learn and retain ALL the information. Though, I knew it would be very difficult because I came into this with NO CODING EXPERIENCE! This class is also fully virtual and I was probably the youngest one in the cohort since the majority of them looked like they were in their mid 30s-50s. NOTE: The instructor reminded us multiple times to expect many headaches, tears, frustrations, and the feeling of giving up and YES, I and many others in the cohort felt it all (~1/4 of the cohort dropped). Ok, so since this course is held fully virtually, that was something I was worried about. I actually ended up barely noticing it was an online class since it was LIVE and very INTERACTIVE where the instructor teaches and then everyone gets broken up into groups for classwork, and then we all come back together to discuss. Since I chose the part-time option, that meant there would be classes two days per week where each class was 2 hour sessions. Class was enjoyable and I ACTUALLY had fun and looked forward to attending class! We also had 5 TAs who held their own office hours for two hours on their chosen day (Friday-Sunday) or if you attend class 30 minutes early, they hold office hours there too. I attended office hours at least once a week and the TAs were very helpful. The instructor seemed to know his stuff when teaching during class, BUT sometimes he didn't know the answer to the questions we asked him. Not going to blame him though! This course is taught VERY FAST since it IS a boot camp. It's 24 weeks long, so each week is a new topic or language. Something which helped me complete all my weekly assignments was by starting the homework LITERALLY right after the Wednesday classes (my class sessions were Mondays and Wednesdays)! It's VERY important to form a study group in the beginning of the course because having a group helped me understand the material better (my study group was a group of 7 girls who met up weekly on Thursdays through Zoom). A perk from this boot camp is you can sign up for a tutor. I definitely knew I wanted a tutor! I mean...I might as well get all the help I can get and use all the resources and people available since this course ain't cheap! I don't know what I would have done without my tutor's help; she explained things well and sent me some resources. I also enjoyed the AskBCS service they have which is available throughout the majority of the day, BUT sometimes the person I got wasn't as helpful as others (several people in my cohort agreed with me on this). My class had about 44 students (the ones that didn't drop) and it was mixed with people of different education and career levels. For example, there were some people with a PhD, a Masters degree, and people with only a Bachelors degree. There were also people who already work in the industry as Senior positions. Knowing all of this was a little intimidating for me, but hey, it's great for networking! Oh and speaking of networking, this course comes with a "Career Services" section to help you become "employer competitive," but most of that doesn't start until the last month of the course. The career services was pretty much non-existent throughout the course and I wish I had more time with them. Would I recommend? I feel like I would recommend this boot camp to people who want a career change, BUT I would NOT recommend it to people who ONLY want to learn more of a specific language. The instructor only spent one week on most topics. I personally think one week is only enough to get the basics of a programming language. Even the instructor said we would have to review everything all over again AFTER the course! IF you do decide to take this bootcamp, then I would HIGHLY recommend having 2 or more monitors since that would make it less frustrating during the live online classes. I only had 1 monitor and got overwhelmed when the instructor was teaching too fast or when he was jumping from screen to screen, while others had 2-5 monitors.

Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this bootcamp to anyone looking for a high-quality…read morelearning environment with real mentorship and student support. I will not be enrolling in any of their future programs.

Despite having been practicing as an architect for several years, the whole emphasis of Sustainable Architecture and Construction opened up a whole new world to me. I realised at the outset that their degrees were not accredited, but the knowledge I gained was enormously helpful to me, so much so that after completing my bachelors degree, I went on to do a combined Masters degree in Architecture and Green Building, which I completed at the end of last year. Over the course of my studies there were some issues with getting responses to my assignments, the reason given was that because of the standard of my work, only periodic reviews were necessary. It took a while to get my certificates, but I have both my Bachelors and Masters degree documentation, with certificates and transcripts, so yes, possibly they could be a bit slicker in their response time, but I absolutely believe they are worth studying with - provided you don't need an accredited qualification. The course material is brilliant.
