Was hoping to go to the bar in the Frankfurt Main Tower, but if you didn't have a reservation…read moreprior, it would be virtually impossible so we decided to go the 22nd instead which I would argue, is an equally fantastic experience. We were seated immediately when we got there at around 8pm at the bar. We were surprised there wasn't that many people at first, but realized soon enough that people really started trickling in at around 10-11pm. The bar set up was pretty cool as you can see the bartenders do all their tricks, and they are all extremely knowledgeable and willing to share their learnings with you. The vibes were also wonderful because of the views and also the live music they had on. - Highball - I think this is officially my new favorite alcoholic drink especially the way they make it here which is more lemon-y and less bitter which I like. I'm a huge fan of ginger ale so this drink really went along my taste palate. - Grapefruit Gimlet - Wasn't as big of a fan as this one. I did appreciate the fruity bits of it mixed into it as it added a very fresh flavor, but I felt like the gin was a bit too strong for my taste. I do have to say though that you are able to let them barista know how to modify the drink which is nice. My knowledge of alcohol is just quite limited so I don't have a ton of reference points to go off of. Overall, fantastic bar especially for the vibes and the highball. We ended up staying in there for 3-4 hours. I do have to say that the drinks are quite pricey though so as long as you are aware of that before coming in. Pricey meaning, expect to pay for than €15, but then again, I guess €15 for a very good 3-4 hour night is not all that bad.

Don't plan on spending more than an hour or two here…read more Atmosphere and vibe was decent, there was really no music. Service was great, was seated right away and drinks were ordered shortly after. Not a variety of drinks nor options, unfortunately. Really nice view though.

Once you reached the top floor, there's a bar that has a spectacular view of the city. Make sure to sit outside. They provide blankets if you get cold. It was a beautiful day and the terrace was semi-full at about 6:30 pm. Our server seemed stressed out and very busy for a not-full terrace. He hovered over us insistently even though we were not ready with our drink orders, and once placed, he forgot one of our drinks! after waiting an unbelievably long time we finally got the forgotten glass of wine--no apology! We asked several times for water and wifi codes, he never brought either. We moved indoors for dinner, the atmosphere was sleek and modern but not especially upscale or lively. again our waiter hovered insistently over us as we perused the menu. We placed our orders. We waited and waited and waited for our waters, and to place an order for a bottle of wine. Our waiter had disappeared. Finally we flagged down another server. We actually had our food before the water and wine got to the table. The food was good, pricey, but well presented. Very slow to clear our table, offer dessert menus, and we were never offered coffee or any other drinks. I would recommend go for a drink, enjoy the terrace on a nice day, skip the food and the high prices. Don't go if you are in a hurry, the service is abysmal.

The decor and ambience is quite relaxing and nicely done. The location is excellent as it's right downtown. Downside for me is paying a EUR5 cover charge although I guess the concept is to keep the riff-raff out. It certainlly did little to keep the posers out. Straight to the point, service was crap and drinks way overpriced. Had a Cuba Libre where I really struggled to taste any alcohol at all. And that for EUR11 !! We had to wait 20 minutes after ordering the second round before the drinks arrived and that was after complaining three times to staff. Had another staff member who was downright rude to me and I had to get rather surly with him. Frankly, this seems like an excellent concept, cleverly done, and as such they think they can treat their clients like chattel. I'm sure I'll be back at some point just because I'm single. Drinks-wise you'll get much better drinks and cheaper at the Luna Bar. And frankly I've seen a lot more women (and better looking ones) at the Mantis Bar, at least on after-work night. All in all, lousy service and product in a pretty package. Kind of like my ex-wife.

But bizarrely this pop up venue (co-sponsored by Lufthansa and Audi) is actually pretty cool. They've transformed the area in to a sort of cabana meets Shoreditch-house roof terrace complete with paddling pool and deckchairs/sun loungers. There's a €5 cover charge, but drinks are quite reasonable. There is either a DJ on the scene who was playing some good 80-90's (my era) house music, but there's also a massive projector screen that can show sporting events. Didn't eat there, but you can do death-by-buffet if you so choose. But it was nice to enjoy the 'Frankfurt' skyline on comfortable seats in the open air for a drink after work.

Ambiance (4/5): You may have trouble finding this speakeasy if you don't do your research prior. It's located inside what looks like the entrance to an apartment. Walk in, press the buzzer, and the hostess will greet you. Once you get inside, it's dimly lit with old school charm. My only complaint. No A/C and uncomfortable chairs. Service (4/5): At a speakeasy, you expect elevated service. And it was good here. Our waiter answered our questions, made recommendations, and had a good sense of humor. When he was asked what a popular cocktail is in Germany, he said beer. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet, and I don't think they have food anyway. Drinks (4/5): They have a long list of craft cocktails which is a plus. What I look for at a speakeasy is creativity and an interesting blend of flavors. While some of the options on their menu are basic cocktails, there are some interesting ones, too. The one I had, while the name is escaping me, had a nice fruity and refreshing profile. One of the coolest bars I checked out in Frankfurt. Prost!
