As for the National Park Service historical site itself, that really comprises just the Oaks (Washington's on-campus residence) and the George Washington Carver museum. Both are interesting and worth a visit, but not enough to depict Booker T.'s impact on America and his central efforts to improve the lot of the recently emancipated populations in the South. Good effort, but there is more to be done to make the site a more impactful attraction and celebration of Washington.

On campus is a National Park Service visitor center which is located in the building that once held the campus laundry. The visitor center contains a large exhibit area as well as 2 short films covering the lifes of Booker T. Washington and George W. Carver, the institutes most popular professor. Both of these gentlemen are also buried on the campus grounds. Arrangements can be made at the visitor center to tour The Oaks, this was Booker T. Washington's home.
