Had a great time snorkeling last Monday with the Pirates Cove crew. Seeing all the fish at the…read moreJohn Pennekamp Park coral reef was amazing; many different species of colorful fish, and frequent barracuda sightings. Some people also saw a sea turtle and sting ray. We snorkeled at two sites, one with a submerged Jesus statue. Although we were only in 10-20 feet of water, the water was so clear that we could've seen the bottom clearly if it had been much deeper. They provide inflatable life vests that you can put just enough air into to give yourself a little extra buoyancy. They also provide swim fins, masks and snorkels. The ride out and back to dock was pleasant on their large pontoon boat. The boat captain and "Scuba Steve" really made the trip fun. They kept it lite and fun the whole time, cracking dad jokes and goofing on each other. I'd absolutely go snorkeling with Pirates Cove again!

We decided to cancel our initial nighttime kayak tour last minute due to wind, John was incredibly accommodating and issued a full refund without any hassle - he also offered to still take us out if we were up for it, or go another day, but with our schedule and skill level we decided to just go ahead and cancel. A few days later we did a daytime self-guided mangrove kayak and it was absolutely fabulous.
