Jessica did my hair cut exactly how I wanted it! AND I am very picky about my hair. I like the undercut on one side for a clean comb look, but sometimes I want it to hang down and look more natural. What the heck, Jessica?!! I came in with a totally obscure description of what I wanted and somehow you gave me the perfect cut! My wants: "blonde highlights, but not 90s streaks, I want to go lighter, but not damage my hair, I really like my base color, I don't want to have to constantly maintain it and I don't want to have to style it. Also it needs to be a little funky, yet professional. Make me pretty again." The result was incredible. She did what I asked, but actually made my hair look better than I could have imagined and it looked like "me". I didn't look like I just left the salon and spent a fortune to look fake. I was looking for someone close to Alameda and I loved that in all of the Jess's photos (yelp, instagram, etc) her clients looked beautiful and sparkly, but also themselves. Perhaps the most amazing skill Jess has, second to her ability to cut and style hair, is the ability to listen. It's a frequent and frustrating thing to be crystal clear what it is you want for your hair, with photo or words, to relay that to the hairstylist and have them not follow through for whichever reason. With Jess - that is not an issue. She took the time to talk with me and understand what I was creating. I wanted something shorter, but not so short that it rounded out my face. I wanted some forehead coverage but not bangs (they never seem to cooperate), and I wanted my hair red! I told her I wanted Ariel from the Little Mermaid and she nudged me in a direction that could be more apricot or more raspberry, telling me it would better suit my skin tone and not wash me out. She was right! I got so many compliments in the weeks following. In the end she tousled the hair, a fun experience on its own, that created comfort for me as someone who's a bit afraid of curling irons and a little bit foreign to hairdryers. This made the look I walked out of the salon with something I could easily recreate with a little effort. Jess creates a unique experience for each customer, I've read a few of the other reviews here and what's clear is that she connects with each person and then caters to their needs and wants in a way that has each person feeling like a Queen (or King).
