Abby relates very well to young adults, my daughter said she covered a lot of information, explained it very well and kept the pace right at what she could integrate (given our short timeframe.) She was familiar with both SAT & ACT testing formats and gave her valuable tips which assisted her in raising her ACT score 3 points which put my daughter in scholarship range. I would recommend Abby to any student or parent needing assistance-particulary our experience with math. THANK YOU Abby!

As a tutor, I not only prepare students to reach their academic goals, but also serve as a mentor, helping them to discover their own ability to learn, persevere, and grow. I also provide strategies for academic success beyond high school, focusing on study habits, organization, and personal goal setting. Lessons with me are comprehensive, interactive, and fun. I understand that different learners need different modes of teaching; therefore, I tailor my lessons to students' specific needs. I am experienced in teaching for different modes of learning and learning disabilities. Lastly, I work with the student and their family, keeping parents informed (via weekly email updates) on their child's goals, progress, and homework, as well as our plan for upcoming lessons.

For many juniors and seniors in high school, the omnipresent question of college is one that brings…read morestress to the mind. One of these stressful processes involved in the road leading up to college is taking the SAT/ACT. These long, strenuous standardized tests are essential for admissions to many universities and just a hundred points can be the difference between an acceptance or rejection. In order to get a desirable score, many students turn to preparation courses or tutors. After taking the SAT for the first time in May of 2017 and being unsatisfied with my original score, I turned to Tina for the August SAT. She went above and beyond, making sure that I knew what I had to do, why it was important, and that I understand the big concepts as well as small, but important, details. The one on one engagement of Tina's program is one of its strongest suits and is unmatched by any prep course or group tutoring. This direct focus allows Tina to create test taking strategies that work for you individually. Everyone learns in a different way and this is why Tina's methods are so effective. Another advantage of Tina's program is her flexibility. She does her absolute best to find a day and time which can work for both of you and, as long as you let her know 24 hours in advance, does not require a payment for cancellation. I cannot speak highly enough of the amazing work that Tina did with me in allowing me to understand the ins and outs of the material and strategy behind the SAT. Tina provides a firsthand, confidence inspiring, personal learning experience in which you learn to use and make the tools that are necessary on test day. Emmet White

I was really struggling in my pre-calc class earlier this year, and went to Tina for help. Not only did she show me useful tricks and techniques to approach problems, but she explained broader concepts that have helped understand math, instead of simply going through the motions. She also tutored me for the SAT, and my score was 380 better than my initial PSAT. She helped me relive my stress around the test, and tackle problems with confidence. I am so happy with the support I got from Tina she last year-she was a life saver. I would 100% reccomend her services!!

I have been thrilled with the assistance and teaching my son received from Scott - precise, persistent, insightful. My son enjoyed and loved learning from Scott. A little bit of humor and cheerful attitude helped too. My son achieved ACT score he hoped for and eventually enrolled in a college of his choice. My niece worked with Matt to improve her LSAT score - she achieved significantly higher score in a short time!!! She acknowledges that Matt's help was decisive in her better LSAT score. I am so very happy to have worked with Scott and his wonderful colleagues at North Avenue and I truly admire their expertise and the place they have created - it gives confidence and trust! Scott was able to work with my schedule and helped me a great deal with my GRE's (I met him as he was my GRE prep instructor through Sherwood Learning) in both math and writing sections. After I took my GRE's and did far better than I would have without the prep course, I wanted to take my application process seriously and not be rejected like some of my friends, and especially in this competitive higher education rat race, so I hired Scott to help me with my admissions essays. I got it to my first school of choice , first time applying and I'm really pleased with my experience with Scott. He gives constructive criticism, is very articulate and kind, strength-based, and he had me when he quoted 'Zoolander'. I can safely say I couldn't do it without him.
