She is a perfect teacher, you can easily see she cares about the quality of her teaching and she always remain energetic in her class. She is very nice, and warm hearted, yet strict. sweet and firm:) She cares about the students' progress as much as the parents. Before I found her, even though I did not know anything about piano, I had to follow my daughter's class material so I can help her at home. I always thought that was because teacher did not have enough time to go through everything, and it was necessary for parents to be so involved. With Dina, I realized with a good teacher, parents did not have to struggle at all. Dina set very clear expectations, and she does not hurry things, and she never have the kids play many pieces. With her, both my daughter and I are super comfortable with the amount of work/practice we have to do at home. Dina stays on top of everything. With Dina, We learn theory/sight reading/ear training. She also makes sure the students do not get bored playing one pieces too much. she carefully alternate different songs and different activities. She is also strict. My daughter had very bad finger positions, for over a year, Dina keep trying to correct her, and literally hand in hand, hold her fingers to help her. After A WHOLE year of effort, my daughter now have perfect finger positions thanks Dina's persistence. Dina teaches students music as a whole, and she really focuses on dynamics, The music from my daughter now sound so much better. Dina also requires her students to take CA level test. I initially thought that might be too much a work for us. But Dina not at all added any more stress, she is only using exams to keep track of students progress. I can not believe my daughter not only passed the exams easily, the result were good/excellent. A year ago, this would be unthinkable. From personal side, Since we have Dina, I fought with my daughter much less :) the homework and practice were comfortable amount, in classes, my daughter already practiced to a level that was comfortable for her, I do not need to struggle with learning the new pieces at all. (Strange, with all my past teachers, I had to sit down to learn every new pieces with her). I also enjoy the level of books/music Dina picked for my daughter. One of my previous teachers were either too hard for too easy. Dina has a good suggestion on where my daughter's level is. It has been a year, now my daughter plays like a real musician:) I will stay with Dina as long as I can, I am so lucky to find her. I only wish I found her from the beginning, that would save lots of work and pain. When my son reaches the age, I will start him with Dina for sure.

She uses different ways to describe hand movements and different concepts so that a 6 year old is able to understand. She taught my daughter to count a half-beat as "pi-zza" so we pizza pizza through the whole song. She encourages my daughter to participate in recitals and competitions, but never pushes. Participating was a great motivator to practice. My daughter always feels proud when she finishes each recital and receives her trophy. Each of her accomplishments is celebrated by us and her most wonderful teacher. We also love Virtuoso Music Studio. The waiting area fulls of new books and the kids love getting HI-CHEW candies and stickers when they finish their lessons. The principal Ernest is a great violinist. He truely cares about the studio and is very attentive to details, such as the decor and making sure restroom is very clean.We love learning music here.

Ms Zoe creatively adapts her teaching to help my daughter draw relationships between viola and cello. It really helped my daughter master the basics fairly quickly. Instead of being strict on sticking to one learning pathway, Ms Zoe encourages my daughter to bring her school pieces and ask questions. One thing that my daughter really likes about Ms Zoe is that she plays along with the student. It's very encouraging to my daughter, and it makes her feel that the teacher is in this with her. My daughter really enjoys Ms Zoe's classes. I also would to share my experience with the studio. The service was excellent! The studio was able to put me in touch with Ms Zoe pretty quickly. There are many classrooms in the studio, and they're well maintained. Virtuoso also has a strong team of teachers teaching various instruments. As a classically-trained musician since my childhood, I've seen many music teachers, both for myself and for my daughter, and Dr. Chevalier is one of the best, perhaps the best. Here's what I love about her teaching: * She focuses on musicality. Dr. Chevalier is always pushing my daughter to listen actively, to hear more nuance in others' performances, and to develop the ability to express subtle musical ideas. * She focuses on music that motivates the student. My daughter expressed her love for the Bruch violin concerto, which is far beyond her current skill. Rather than tell her so, Dr. Chevalier is encouraging her to work on the first page, to build those skills she needs, and she's also introducing other more basic music to work on, connecting them musically to parts of the Bruch to motivate working on them. * She has high standards, and she's patient. Dr. Chevalier doesn't give up when my daughter doesn't quickly get the idea she's presenting, but she also stays patient, trying to communicate subtle ideas in multiple ways to get them across. * She's kind. My daughter is quite sensitive, and she can be find negative feedback demotivating. Dr. Chevalier told me early on that she never says anything negative to her students and I thought she must be exaggerating. But so far, it's true. She's only been super kind to my daughter. * She's thoughtful and clever. Here's an example: to motivate her students to practice, she has them post practice logs on the wall of her studio. Her students look at each others' logs, and they do compare, giving each motivation to impress the rest. I'm so grateful we found Dr. Chevalier and I'm looking forward to years more of my daughter studying with her!
