But no -- the a/c is once again non-functioning and I am told that they are working on a new system. But the front desk is unable to provide a time frame. What?? I can't be the only one complaining. This is a premium-priced gym. While I'm forced to complain here, pls also take note that the bathrooms could be better cared for -- I cut my hand twice on a toilet paper holder that was wobbly for months. The two baths in the treadmill area need to be cleaned throughout the day, or at least more frequently. And some of the equipment goes unfixed for way too long. I am reconsidering my membership.

I joined in March and paid nearly $1,000 upfront. At the time I signed up, I was told this payment…read morewould cover my April, May, and June gym dues, as well as my daughter's and my pool membership for the entire summer. I was also told that my monthly dues would resume in July. Instead, I have received multiple emails claiming my account is past due and adding late fees. When I asked the employee who signed me up to provide a copy of the agreement or documentation confirming what I was promised, she refused. For over a month, I have repeatedly called and have been told to speak with Shanon. I have left at least five emails and five voicemail messages, yet I have never received a response. When I log into the member portal, I see a balance due with no explanation. I have requested callbacks through the portal and still have not received any response. To make matters worse, every time I go to the pool, I am stopped and told my account has been flagged and that I need to contact the front desk. It is embarrassing and has made both my daughter and me feel unwelcome. We simply wanted to make sure our account was paid correctly and avoid late fees, yet we have been treated as though we are the problem. I eventually had to cancel the debit card I had on file after it was charged for dues that I had already paid in advance. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend not keeping a debit card on file. This entire situation has felt incredibly frustrating and, at times, like a scam. The accounting department has failed to resolve a straightforward issue, and management has been completely unresponsive. I do want to say that I love the pool. The staff there has always been friendly, welcoming, and professional, and the facility is clean. My daughter loves spending time there, and we plan to continue using the pool each summer--but only without a payment card on file because I no longer trust the billing process. Unfortunately, I will not continue my gym membership because I have lost confidence in the accounting department's ability to bill members accurately or resolve problems when they occur. My hope is that someone in leadership reads this, contacts me, explains why this has been handled so poorly, removes the incorrect charges and account flag, and finally resolves my account.

Positivity. Strength. Integrity. Commitment…read more Four words that perfectly describe the Underground Strength Gym. I've been training consistently with Zach Even-Esh and his trainers (aka coaches) at the Underground for the past 7 years and I have transformed not only my physique but also my life. I went from not being able to do one pull up to cranking out 10 or more with ease and deadlifting over 300 lbs and gaining immense confidence in myself leading to greater opportunities outside of the gym. Zach Even-Esh is the current head Strength & Conditioning coach of Rutger's Wrestling team, has authored his own book "The Encyclopedia of Underground Strength and Conditioning," and has run the Underground since 2008 and has had his training methods heralded by many including author Tim Ferris. He is the real friggin deal. The USG has a one-of-a-kind team that not only gets you in shape but they help you get the proper form/technique, mindset, and support needed to enjoy lasting results. I've never been to a gym where the trainers cared so much for everyone that steps foot in the gym. There is always a coach on hand for each session making sure everyone is performing to their level and ensuring each person is also executing workouts with proper form to avoid injury. USG is the first gym I've been to that promotes a positive, fun atmosphere. I've never felt more welcome at a gym than this one. While it is easy to get intimated and disheartened at a franchise gym it's not uncommon for coaches and attendees of the Underground to get along and grow mutual respect for each other. Unlike most gyms USG only has sessions with an assigned coach. Sessions last an hour though you are welcome to stay extra to continue working out if you'd like. Regardless of if you've never been to a gym or you're an athlete actively competing Zach or one of his coaches will work with you to ensure the workout of the day is tailored to your level of experience. From my own experience I went from having limited gym experience with hardly any strength to doing what everyone else in class was doing in about 3 months. In that time frame I was able to do my first pull up. I initially went once a week now I go 3 or more times depending on my schedule. Attendees range from high schoolers to adults either competing in sports or looking to stay active and improve themselves. People of all ages and genders work out together in sessions according to their level and age range. It's not uncommon to see the high school kids working just as hard as the adults or even harder. It's truly remarkable. Be advised this gym is not for the faint of heart or casual gym goers. If you are not totally committed to your training and goals you might be better off at a franchise gym. It's not uncommon for the less devoted to leave as quick as they came. The work is hard but with commitment results come fast and you'll be amazed at what you can do. With the positivity and support Zach & his team offer it's no surprise to hear of the local and state champions the USG produces. Some attendees have gone on to significant achievements not only in sports but also their personal lives. Additionally they have charity lifting competitions for all ages and experience levels that help local charities. No need to be a powerlifter to compete. It's probably the most fun you will have at any charity event. If you're looking to make a change you better get Zach on the horn ASAP!
