I signed up for Personal Training and I did not receive what I paid for. Yet this business happily charged my account with absolutely no transparency, communication, or exchange of services. I did not receive the training or the check ins I was promised. And was left without any clear direction of how to cancel the contract. I was told this would not be a problem when I signed up. If you google Jersey Strong there are countless articles and reviews echoing my experience. At best, Jersey Strong is guided by unethical business practices. And at worst, the place is run by charlatans. And I fear it is the latter. Shame on you. read more

Simply one of the best facilities I've been to in the area, keeping me hyped for my workouts. A clean, spacious facility offering a remarkable variety of equipment also gets me more motivated than any other. They will try to get you to sign up at multiple points through the 21-day trial, which I don't blame them for doing as getting somebody through the door is half the battle to them becoming a member. Thank you to Ariel, Khalil, and Mike for pleasant service and a well-maintained facility. I was happy to learn after signing up, with a relatively great deal, that the friendliness wasn't just a sales tactic and that the staff does seem to value member relationships. I had thought that Jersey Strong may be an overrated local gym chain, but after visiting numerous locations with my membership they're all pretty well-maintained and conveniently located--I've already gone to two others by chance due to already finding myself in the same town/parking lot. While I think the standard membership offers can be slightly high at times, I find myself more comfortable and excitable at Jersey Strong than at competing gyms, and that counts for a lot in offering an enjoyable fitness experience. read more

It's a great day in America when evil is put to death.... Jersey Strong is no more - the end for an awful company. I could not be more happy to hear that Jersey Strong was going out of business. If you read my past reviews, I predicted this about a years ago. The management of this company was awful - mean, rude, greedy, selfish, downright awful people. On three different occasions they tried to threaten me into paying for something that they had no right demanding. Of course I prevailed, but many people don't want the aggravation of having to take companies to court. And, I even offered to remain a member if they would just drop their ridiculous demands, but no, "fight me for a nickel and lose a dollar". Good bye and good riddance!!! read more

Scam scam scam. Do not go to this gym. Shit hole, sales driven culture in a gym. Over priced and liars. Said I could cancel within 3 days free of charge. Total lie and charged me 100$ cancellation fee. They will parade you around for 50 minutes spewing non-sense then get you in a room and say "sign up now for 100$ off, but the deal ends after today and the free trial is only for certain people sorry." Can't wait for them to go out of business. Huwatooo. Nothing positive here. L staff L gym. read more

I've never written a review, good or bad, on Yelp, but I need to warn others about the way I was treated at this gym. Seems I'm not the only one with a bad experience, given the 1.5 star rating here. I came in with a friend as a member's guest. The desk bro who took my ID said nothing but "ID?" Not hello, not welcome, not enjoy our gym. Nada. After my workout, my friend's friend, another member, gave me a free month's pass! I was so excited! But on my way out I was intercepted by a different desk bro. He proceeded to take the pass from me & tell me that it was good for the rest of this month, i.e., less than 2 weeks, and that I wouldn't be charged until the first of next month. Huh? I said I'd just like to have my free month. But he wouldn't give it back to me & kept asking me why I didn't want to sign up. BECAUSE I NEVER PLANNED ON SIGNING UP, I'M CHECKING OUT AREA GYMS. WHY DID YOU STEAL MY PROMOTIONAL MONTH FROM ME? How sleazy. How out of touch with how business is done in 2021. The bro's job is to sign up members. Instead he bait & switched me and said "OK, cool" in a mocking tone when I got up to leave. This was my first time in a gym since COVID and I left in disgust. I've heard nothing good about this gym but in person it was much worse. read more

I was diagnosed with a neuromuscular illness. I supplied doctor's note bc I could easily be injured working out. They won't let me out of contract. I joined even though I was warned about their poor business practice. U should have listened After joining on a 40dollar a month membership I was charged 69& the first month. The salesperson told me I was charged the yearly dues. Ok I can deal with that. The 2 nd month I was charged 133$. That I can't. Manager told me it was the yearly fee plus a late charge. I've been going here for over ten years and never has it been so filthy. I bring my own Clorox wipes and every time I wipe down a piece of equipment the wipe literally turns brown. Not to mention there has been actual dried boogers, yes boogers, on the wall of the women's changing room for months. There's also snot or another mystery substance crusted on the lockers. Earlier today I even heard a girl say she was about to go on a treadmill yesterday but noticed the was a pool of water where the wires were. I started bringing my own weights because I'm so grossed out by the ones provided. For a company that has increased its membership fees and claims to "use the same technology as hospitals" I find this preposterous. Staff is also rude. When I raised my concerns about the cleanliness I was told "well it's a gym". Join Planet Fitness when they open soon instead. read more

They make it easy to join and horrible to quit. You have to die in order for your membership to be cancelled. That isn't a joke. So forget a doctors note, better go in your coffin. It isn't humane! We are prisoners to something that should be just as easy as joining. And FORGET talking to someone about quitting. It's all email. A face when you join and a computer if you DARE try to leave. Do yourself a favor and look at all the complaints on better business bureau about the cancellation policies. One person MOVED OUT OF STATE and they wouldn't let them cancel. Don't do it. Don't join. I've had such a hard time cancelling and I even asked to payout. I wonder how many lawyers are too many lawyers? read more

Avoid if your considering. I had recent surgery and was told to get on treadmill. Went to Planet Fitness 1/4 mile away great people tour, tried out massage machine etc!! Walked out shaking their hand... come down the street 2 guys at the front tell me they need name address, email, phone number or they can't talk to me when I say all I want is pricing they cop attitudes and say they can get in trouble without MY INFORMATION!!! Why so corporate can sell it!! Hate this from start it's a store front as you walk in the door to sell you clothes!! This is not a place to help u it's a place to sell you!!!! Move on! read more

Nick was very nice, but in the end could not help us. Completely dissatisfied with outcome. I tried several times to get the name of a manager to deal with my issues and was told that no problems are dealt with in person or on the phone... corporate only provides an email. Read the better business bureau reviews before signing up. Most of the complaints stem from signing a contract that you never see. When it comes time to cancel, you get hit with a 400 dollar+ fee. I wish that I would have researched better. Obviously they are a business, but this organization only cares about making money. Every time you turn around, someone is reaching out to you about body scans and personal training when you have already told them you weren't interested. This gym operates like a used car lot regarding sales tactics. Join the Y! read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. They engage in dishonest and predatory business practices. They lie about the terms of their contracts and never provide you with a copy of the contract - you sign an electronic pad at the gym. They make it ridiculously difficult to cancel anything or to get an answer to a question. They charge you undisclosed fees to cancel the contract and then try to continue to charge you for personal training after you are no longer a member of the gym! So, they will charge you hundreds of dollars for personal training at a gym you can no longer access because of the "contract" that you have never seen (and were lied to about). This place is unethical and predatory. Don't go there. read more

Gets the job done. Nothing fancy about the gym. Could be bigger. Should 100% add a seated military press.

I could not rate this place worse for service. Several staff members are exceptionally difficult to deal with. Also, the quality of the machinery is complete garbage. read more

Awful place. Don't go here. Scam after scam. Sat down with Nick and it was like being at a car dealership. So many hidden fees and they try and make you sign a contract. Yes, the reviews on this place are correct. The grease balls who run it are slimy and try and get you to pay ridiculous amounts and trap you in contracts. Not even worth the time to talk to them. On top of all that, the 3 day free trial doesn't even exist. They just use it to draw you in. Do not go here and save your money! Nick said it would be $40 a month and when we threatened to leave he said he "talked to corporate" went down to $30 and kept the insane fees. Literally a car dealership! They are liars and greaseballs. Joke of a business and a bunch of slime balls. Terrible, terrible establishment. read more

Worst gym ever. Worst customer service. Do not sign up. I had the worst customer service experience with this gym. You get a scripted response from their customer service through email, shows that they are only interested in charging your card, nothing else. They refused honor the doctor's note as I am ill as the note did not include exact words they are looking for and continued charging. The want the doctor to write something like you are permanently disabled and exact words should be written by a physician. read more

This place used to be decent. After Covid, they upped the prices, stating they were becoming more of a serious gym and this and that. If anything, I believe it became more of a joke. They literally changed nothing. Tons of machines have ripped leather, missing weight markers, vinegar in sanatizing bottles, broke plates and dumbbells. I'm not impressed. Always overly crowded. These establishments used to be open until 11 now only open until 9. That gives me 2 hours to get home from work and rush to the gym. Spend your money elsewhere if you are looking for a serious gym read more

Don't bother. They are snakes in the grass. Awful awful awful. I definitely do NOT recommend this gym.

This gym is the absolute worst. There is a literal pandemic going on right now and they're still charging member fees for everyone. We have a family of 3 memberships. I tried to cancel my husband's membership first at the club in Freehold, NJ and they told me to call in. I did call and the person that answered the call send me an account number from which I was instructed to log in and cancel (see forwarded email). No name of the sender, no trace no problems... The provided account number did not match my husband's first and last name and I was not able to create an account. I had to call again. Now this time I was not able to be verified to ask for my husband's account number since the physical address was not matching to the one we live in or used to live in. I was told it was in Freehold. The only thing was that I signed up my husband in Freehold's Jersey Strong. I am sure I used the family address in Howell. Basically, the representative informed me that he cannot help me because the information isn't matching. I asked to be transferred to the manager and he said " I am transferring you to an unavailable supervisor" and did that the same second. I do believe that this is no way to treat customers and I will write this for your review. It is a huge disservice that Jersey Strong gym network is hiring such a 3rd party company to represent them. I would give it 0 stars if I could to represent the people that work there. The gym it self is nice, however I have been repeatedly lied to and misled. For starters after I joined I was asked to give names and numbers of friends so they could use a free pass and after all my friends were repeatedly texted by the gym a few actually came in to use it, which then they were told fine print says "local residents" only which is such a load of crap. Then my one friend still wanted to have a membership because we are at the shore for summer but didn't want to spend a ton since she has another gym at home, they convince me to add her on to my account with "no fees" and first month free as a family member. First of all a contract was never printed or provided to me. Second, I was in a rush so I trusted what Nick said to me which was my mistake because he has lied/incorrectly informed me the last time Of the membership, I prob should have learned my lesson. But no, I believed him again, and now I got hit with $80 in annual fees and the first month is not free. On top of that they are taking it out of my checking account when I was told that it would only be first payment and then would switch to cc card. BEWARE- Nick is an absolute liar and don't trust anything he tells you. Read contracts with a fine tooth comb. Also the manager's customer service skills is probably the worst I've ever seen.
