Apologetic and Grateful, I take a seat and wait. A mother waited as he son was getting his haircut. There was another Male that were there before me waiting as well. I look around and see the price on the way posted $15 for a haircut. As I waited I decided on paying $28 in my head, Because he said he would cut my hair and I want to support local business (with the false conception that this local business would delivery quality and care with the hair that is cut and the way their customers look) WAS I WRONG. All I hear about is he is driving to Madison later, but doesn't want to spend all day there. While cutting the hair of the other Male, after the Boy and his mother had left. He is taking phone calls and asking about everyone hobbies. It's about 11:15AM and He cleans up the hair of the Male before me and i take a seat. I actively avoid chains(Great Clips, Cost Cutter) as they are cutting for volume sales. My hopes in going to a locally owned business is that they take time to actually check if lines are straight and cut with care and quality. I just asked for an undercut with 3 on the sides and back with take 4 inches off. Seeming rushed, my neck was shredded as the trimmer was used to refine the taper of my hair in the back instead of a straight razor..I didn't ask for my face to be trimmed or touched in any way and the trimmer aggressively grazes my face to outline the contour of my small bit of scruff that I was going to just trim after myself. I Wasn't asked. On the right side of my head, I have a straight line from my ear down my head to my sideburn, through my little scruff that is on my neck. However, on the left side there is only a line trimmed from my Ear down to my Jawline, totally missing my neck. Not that this was asked for, but please just make it even. I don't use Gel, but I wasn't asked as a fat pump of the rancid gel was smattered into my hair. It looked okay, but kinda crazy like if I were to stick my head out the window of a speeding car with a lot of gel in my hair. I stand at the counter and wait to give him my card as he vacuums up the hair and cleans up the hair. I was hoping that I could write a tip or Gift(tax reasons) him $13 dollars as a "tip". However, I was then charged $30. I happily paid for a service that was provided but for the amount of time and terrible attention to detail as well as the lack of focus on the task of cutting hair. I WILL NOT EVER return as I feel taken advantage of as he charged $30 for a janky half-baked hair cut. If you value a quality and skillful haircuts, find another Barber.

Beings that I live in Downtown Oshkosh, a place that has nearly as many hair salons as it does…read morebars, I do not often have to venture out very far to get a (highly overpriced) haircut. Since am pretty much a "guy's guy" that does not learn towards the metrosexual end of the pendulum swing, some of these salon visits are a tad strange. Almost like a case study for a sociology grad student in many ways, but I digress, the cuts I get are always top notch at most of these places. The problem with most of the salons is you can't just walk in randomly and receive a cut. This is not a problem normally, but booking a haircut appointment is also not something that typically rises to the top of my list of priorities in the grand scope of my life. I look at myself in the mirror when I am getting ready for work one morning and sometimes decide that is the day to do the deed. In these situations, Sport Clips does the job just fine. They have always been very personable and professional, and they get you in and out in record time. I also like that they keep a record on file for you so that you never need to explain to the stylist how you want your hair cut. They also obviously keep other notes in their system as well, since they always oddly seem to remember my course of study in graduate school, how long I have been dating my GF and NFL teams I follow. They do always have ESPN on in the background which is bonus, but I am normally too busy chatting up the stylist to pay much attention anyway. Just avoid this place during the high traffic times like right after 5 if possible. If you show up then be prepared to wait for 45 min or more. However, they do allow you to put your name in and come back, giving you the opportunity to run some errands and come back if need be.
