I came here on a guest passes to use the pool in the early morning. I got a dedicated lane during pen swim hours. I swam for about 30mins and had a good session. I had to fill out some waivers but it was pretty quick. Nice pool area and connected to the locker rooms and showers. They had towels soap and a hair dryer so everything needed to get ready for the rest of the day! Plenty of parking! This is a very nice Y and well kept up. Its very easy to find just off Peace Haven Rd and Lewisville-Clemmons Rd in Clemmons NC. There's plenty of parking as well. So easy to make it for a quick class on a lunch break. The Y is very easy to navigate for a first timer. You can get help, sign up for membership and get a tour w a well informed staff member located to the left near the front door entrance. The Y has several big indoor tracks for running or for getting your steps in as well as outside behind the bldg. There is workout equipment upstairs and downstairs. They have a large indoor pool near the lockers. If you like to play Racketball there are a few that are available to reserve as well as Pickle Ball which is located on the basketball courts when that area is free. They have a large area downstairs for classes like Yoga, among other exercises. Check it out when you need to burn some energy off, drop your kids off for classes etc. Everyone is welcome they even have classes for Seniors. There are lots of different schedules and things to do. So get some exercise for body and mind and support your local YMCA! read more

I have stewed on this for a while, debating on what to include in this review. Let me start by saying-I wanted to get my daughter signed up for swim lessons because she is 3.5 years old and loves the water. I want her to learn to be safe and I was never "formally" taught, so I thought, let me hire someone or get lessons at a facility for her. Everyone I talked to suggested my local YMCA, which is the Jerry Long Family YMCA in Clemmons. I figured if everyone says the Y is where it's at, say less. I'll sign her up. I had no idea what they offered or when, and I had never been in the facility, so I stopped by in person to sign her up. The lady at the desk got her signed up but acted super annoyed by the questions I had. She eventually said "all this will be covered in the email you'll get before lessons start." (Which yes, there was an email...the DAY before lessons started.) I had to ask her to please show me the pool area and again, that took her away from her perch up front. As far as the lessons went-we did a two week session of M-Th for 30 minutes each day. The instructor had no communication with us at all and if my daughter didn't want to do anything that the instructor was having them do, she didn't make them. The whole first day my daughter sat on the edge of the pool and was never encouraged to get in the water or anything. There were four kids in her class total and your kid gets maybe 6 minutes total of one on one time with the instructor. The rest of the time they are to hang on the side of the pool or get the whistle blown at them by the lifeguard for moving from the wall. For parents trying to watch the lessons, the seating is minimal. I stood during most lessons for the entire 30 minutes because there are awkward benches that are taken up by the people who are waiting on kids in the class before you. We were given one little sheet telling what they were working on and even that was given to my three year old to give to me. Never did the instructor tell us how she was actually doing, what she needs help with, nor how we could help her. For well over $100 this was not worth it in my opinion. Next time I will take my money and hire a private instructor that can do one on one lessons so that I can actually see improvement with my child and also hear what I can do to help her further. read more

Everyone usually raves about a YMCA. And there are some very nice things about this particular YMCA, however, cleanliness in the locker room and pool areas is not one of them. The ladies locker room is actually downright disgusting. These are not hard stains, all of this can be scratched off with a fingernail as I found out. Doesn't look like the ladies locker room has ever beenscrubbed. additionally, the hot tub area in the pool has layers of body grind clinging to the walls. Don't get me started on the pool deck and drains. None of this is particularly hard to clean. Takes a scrub brush and a little cleaner and Bam, you're finished. I brought this to the management's attention and they were very concerned, but no additional cleaning has happened. in fact, I was told by one employee that perhaps I should contact the the 3rd party cleaning company and discuss it with them! As if I am the appropriate person to discuss poor job performance with a contracted cleaning company. Anyway, be warned. read more

I'm not one to write negative reviews, but this weighed on my heart. There are some very kind staff members, but overall, the team would benefit from better customer service training. The atmosphere often feels tense, and even small mistakes are handled in a way that feels unnecessarily harsh. For example, I accidentally took my toddler boys into the women's dressing room to quickly change them. Several older ladies rudely told me to use the family dressing room, fair enough, but then they complained to staff, and I was reprimanded in front of another member. Two women approached me; the one who spoke tried to smooth things over, but it still came across as, "No, no, you can't do that," while the second woman just stood silently. It was uncomfortable and could have been handled far more kindly. That same day, a custodial staff member opened the curtain on myself and others while we were changing. That seems like a bigger concern if we're addressing rules. Additionally, I left something in the pool area and wasn't allowed to retrieve it because summer camp was present. While I understand rules and safety, the approach felt overly rigid. The front office, as the first point of contact for members, could also be much more welcoming. Small moments like these add up, and I often leave feeling tense and stressed. We enjoy having a local option for our family, but I truly hope the staff works on creating a friendlier, more approachable environment. read more

I'd actually never been inside a Y before, but we signed my daughter up for swim lessons. This location at least is super clean and nice! We've only been to the pool area, but the facility is huge beyond that. I'll have to explore it more when I get the time. As for the pool, they have 2 pools, a hot tub, water slides, aquatic weights, and ample seating around the pools. It feels like a mini indoor pool resort! read more

I absolutely love this place. The staff are always very friendly, the class instructors are vested in the participants and willing to truly instruct. All areas, including the bathrooms are clean. I can't really assess the women's bathroom without a felony being added to my record so I will pass on that. I have not experienced a Cronus but my tendency is to go in the morning. My only sad note is that after COVID, they will not be implemented the gym towels. It was the only Y in the area that did that and it was great. read more

This gym's pretty big. 2 parking lots and all. I've been coming for a few years and love it. It's got a few different rooms and they all hold lots of options. The Jerry long location can feel a little judgmental sometimes. Like the superficial frat boy vibe. I think it depends on the time of year/day and mostly isn't too bad. Aside from that, though, the place is pretty nice. I'd recommend it. read more

Great Y have been coming here for almost 20 years and it has everything you need (cardio machines, weights, multiple basketball gyms, CrossFit area, pools, sauna , hot tub , steam room). They also offer classes (body pump, spin class, etc). Staff are nice and the facilities are clean. Having visited many gyms I'd definitely say this is one of the best facilities I've visited. I still love coming here after all this time and can't recommend it enough! read more

Anyone else find that the YMCA isn't very charitable or family friendly? Not only with the restrictions on hours and activities, they still took money out of all members accounts during the time where there was zero access to their facilities. I just got a new debit card and I was going to get a quick workout in before the YMCA closed because I just got home from work. I scanned my Y card and the lady immediately said I didn't have enough money on my debit card to pay my balance vs saying there was a payment issue. She then proceeded to basically tell me to leave or let her hold my new debit card while I play basketball for 30 minutes until they close......... Then as I'm leaving and going to pick up my card there is a 10 year old boy who is waiting on his parents and he asks if he can wait inside until they get here because it's cold outside and he was in shorts and a t-shirt. She then immediately tells him he has 3 minutes to be out or he will be forced to exit the building. So they take 4 months worth of my money for nothing? Not to mention giving members less value due to limited hours, and then on top of that I get grilled over 30 minutes after being a member for years? These "non-profit family oriented" places seem to have neither of those in mind from what I've seen. read more

What a wonderful place to get fit, learn new skills, meet new people, and become a better person. The staff is helpful and friendly and encouraging. If you live in the Winston-Salem area, this is the Y to join. Jerry Long has nearly everything, I don't know where to start. Classes: all of the offerings you need. I especially enjoyed the BodyPump class. The only bad part is that they don't make an allowance for being only a couple of minutes late. Gym: First thing that comes to mind is its cleanliness. I don't think I have ever been to a gym that has virtually no dust or dirt on the machines. During my two-hour workouts, there is always someone wiping down machines and weights - from top to bottom and all around. Locker rooms: the locker rooms are clean enough, but could use a little extra love compared to the workout room. But, there are personal showers, a relaxing sauna, and a long make-up/hair station for after your shower. Sports: Racquetball, basketball, volleyball, you name it! This place is an athletes dream in the evening. it bustles with members of all ages playing their favorite sport in the evenings. I don't know, however, if it is pick-up or organized. There is also a pool. Customer service: Top-notch! As a visiting member, the director, Julia, made me feel welcomed. Child care: This is dear to my heart. I will not work out any place where my child(ren) are unhappy. The child care workers were nurturing to both parent(s) and child(ren). They basically told me to give them whatever they need for my kids and to go and take my time and enjoy myself. My kids were happy upon pickup and didn't want to leave. Some evenings, they will take the older kids out to the playground to burn some energy before bed. One thing stuck out, though, and it was a conversation with one of the women who worked there. A boy was playing around in a pink princess dress and my daughter pointed it out to me. I expected one of the women to say something negative (I always hear ridiculous stuff about gender in the south), but instead they were supportive of the kid and allowed him to navigate comfortably in his play space. Loved that! There is also a small farmer's market outside on Wednesday, I think. Again, this is the best YMCA in the area! read more

This gym is one of the most well kept and clean facilities I've ever had a membership to. The employees are all very friendly, and everyone is always smiling! Good mix of equipment (brand new dumb bells!), 2 gyms, crossfit area, a pool and hot tub and 2 racquetball courts are also on site. Would definitely recommend this gym as a great place to get back in shape! read more

Worst YMCA service ever! I was with my fiancé and we both used to go to YMCA and work out. One day I took my mom with me and all three of us are chatting and working out and a YMCA worker comes in and start getting on my finances face and telling him to leave because he is coaching us to workout. We told him we are doing group exercise and minding our own business. He left and right at the moment I ask my fiancé a question about if he will help me to pick up a cattle bell that YMCA representative stomps back and start aggressively telling my fiancé to leave the gym. That disrespectful and I like YMCA logo. I took my complain up to the management but guess what they will take side of their employee. I guess customer service is not valued anymore at that YMCA location. I have been a member of YMCA for the longest time at different locations and have been greatly pleased but the YMCA in Clemons is the worst as they don't care about customer service and thus don't train their representatives respect! read more

I like this place a lot. It has a lot of different clubs and other activities for ALL ages. I just wish that it had more to do there and it's quite small for a ymca. Otherwise it's a great place to invest in a membership. read more

Love this place! It's perfect for our family and there is something for everyone. The classes are awesome especially body pump! Gabriela that does aqua Zumba is phenomenal!! Only issue i have with this place is the steam room people who have flu like symptoms should not be able to enter the steam room or maybe there can be masks near by i don't know but it grossed me out when a gentleman in there was just hacking and sneezing his face off the germs have nowhere to go but spread. It should definitely be a rule! read more
