A work colleague organized an after work even in this place and I joined gladly. We were about 20 people in total. First the place is well located in the Järntorget spot and steps away from the tram. While I didn't eat in that place I had a couple drinks and to be honest the atmosphere between work colleague was exceptional as we had a blast and obviously contributed to the experience. We were all situated in a center lengthy table on high chairs next to the beer ordering. The waiter was very warm and joked with us quite a bit. Since we were a group with many different nationalities (Swedes, Brazilians, Canadians, Polish and French) the conversation revolves around this topic with the waiter. What struck me in this place was the scenery, ranging from the ceiling to the wall it is clear the owner either put some effort into it or called for interior designer specialist. Since describing decoration isn't what I am the most skilled about I have put pictures as they replace a thousand words. See it for yourself. Stopped in for a quick snack and beer after watching New Year's fireworks up at Masthuggskyrkan. They always have some interesting local brews and the antipasti platter was more than adequate. Seems to be a hangout for all types, hipsters, older couples, older pairs of friends, old and young communists, college students. The seating is deliberately not comfortable, I think. High stools and narrow bar tables with hard benches...it seems to say, drink up bit don't get comfortable. Which suited us just fine. During the summer they build benches so you can sit outside along the entrance to Andra Långgatan, our old neighborhood. Watch Känn ingen sorg, then go.down and hang out to watch the parade of people who come down to the area. This is a good meeting up place if you are going to do a pub crawl. A few were sitting alone and reading a book or looking at their phones. So if you dont want a cup of coffee next door at expresso house while you write your latest blog or work on your novel, this could be your alternative spot to nurse a brew. read more

This place opened just recently. The decor is very light, almost white wooden furniture. Wooden benches. Sort of like a daytime October fest feeling. No, I do not like the interior. Without guests it's too bright. They have a good selection of beer both draft (40 cl) and bottled. I could definitely go back here for the beer, but they offer the same assortment as most good bars/pubs do. All draft beers are around SEK 60 for 40 cl. We came here around 8 and it was almost empty, being a Monday evening I am not surprised, but then again - compared to other pubs in the neighborhood I understand where all the potential guests were! THE definitive after-hours pub on Andra Lång, open an hour later than the rest. Excellent selection of beers both on tap and in bottle, second only to The Rover in terms of overall selection. Very low prices, friendly, hard working staff, prompt service, and competent mixed drinks. Unfortunately, the compliments stop at the end of the bar. As the cheap after-hours with indiscriminate bouncers, it is always packed to the rafters and everyone in there is steaming drunk after midnight (to be fair, I was usually the drunkest). The piss-poor ventilation means you smell it. If you aren't completely hammered the body odor, cheap cologne, and spilt beer smell will make you puke. Decor is non existent, seems like they've plonked a few picnic tables in a big room and called it a day. The basement feels like 500 people packed into a candle lit cave. Folks, this is where you go to get rat ass drunk. Where you end up when you should be going home, but you don't. If you can walk, you'll be let in, and you'll crawl out. Love it or hate it, it's THE after hours, so you and I will both be back again and again. read more

We arrived in Gothenburg starving late on a Friday night. This place was recommended by a local as was the only near-by restaurant still serving food. We were overwhelmed by how nice the staff was. We ordered burgers and steak sandwiches. We all expected pub food but were very surprised as the food was excellent. The steak sandwich even came with a béarnaise sauce and perfectly cooked fingerling potatoes. They have an impressive beer selection. Even stocking PBRs (in a glass bottle no doubt - which I have never seen before!). The guys started with PBRs as a tribute to home as it had been over a year. Afterwards we left it up to the server to suggest local beers and were not disappointed. The place was packed with a mostly mid 20's to 30's drinking crowd. Overall a great experience and a wonderful welcoming to Gothenburg. read more

Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this but I feel like it is definitely an issue that needs to be raised and shared amongst as many people as possible. This is an email I sent to the management at "Jerntorgets Brygghus" (a restaurant/bar we had an experience with last night). I highly recommend NOT supporting this establishment. I will also be posting this on the University of Gothenburg website. To whom it may concern, Last night (Friday evening) a group of 6 individuals were declined entranced into your restaurant on the pretence that one of the people in our party had "caused trouble" in the restaurant before. The accusation was that this man had been to your restaurant for many weekends in a row and had been inappropriate towards a bartender. The man in our party has been in Gothenburg for less than two weeks and has never been to your restaurant before. When we explained this to the bouncer he refused to engage in any conversation with us. The man in our party is from Africa and got the distinct impression that he was declined entrance due to his race. When two other people in our party spoke to your bartender she made the ignorant statement that this man looked and acted the same way so it must be the same person. She was unwilling to admit her obvious mistake and to apologize. We walked away feeling disgraced by what appeared to be blatant racism and xenophobia on the part of your establishment. We wanted to give you the opportunity to acknowledge the mistake made and apologize to our colleague. We, and many others we know through the University of Gothenburg, will not be coming back to your restaurant but we still feel it is your responsibility and the right of our colleague to receive an apology.
