I ordered a jerk taco that was more jerk pita. It felt like eating a Middle Eastern shawarma. Full of flavor and dry at the same time. That was surprising because the jerk chicken that I ordered was tender and juicy. With the jerk chicken, I had cabbage, macaroni and cheese, and pice and peas. The restaurant looks like it draws more takeaway customers than dine-in. The food isn't bad, and I'm not being unfair by using my Jamaican family as a litmus test. My timing may have been off. I guess I will get in the habit of writing reviews. I hate to do this, but it is needed. The young lady who is working the front desk needs to find her purpose because clearly she is impatient and irritable. Owner, she is going to cost your establishment thousands in lost revenue, if she doesn't tighten up- I dont care if she is family. The food doesn't fit the price and I feel that if the customer service is poor, least let the food be worth it. My husband went in and ordered a jerk chicken dinner. We got home and it looked like baked chicken, tasted a small bite and it was DISGUSTING! I called in my order of Jerk White Dinner, with Rice and Peas (red beans and rice) and corn. I was given a 25 minute wait time, yet my food was ready in about 18 when I got there. They are located in a mini mall off of Volmer Road right across the street from The Kingsberry Pancake House. The restaurant is very clean and offers seating to dine in. The food is ALWAYS fresh and tastes amazing...that's the part that never changes. What does change is their consistency with packing to-go orders (only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars). There has been a time or two where my father has arrived with food, and we were missing an order of Plantain or something along those lines. First thing to tick me off...they have the audacity to charge an extra 4% to use a credit card. Well no one carries cash like that in 2018. Also, as a business, you decided to take credit cards. Therefore, you pay your own processing fees. Don't pass that to your customers to cover. The cashier didn't mention the fee, I guess the sign was a good enough notification in their eyes. Second thing to tick me off...SEVERAL people came and went and I still hadn't gotten my wrap. Call in's, people who went outside to wait for their orders and came back in. The lady who took my order had even left out to go buy supplies, came back, and I was still waiting. She was the only one that acknowledged that I was still waiting. She asked me my order number then looked around and said, it'll be right up. Wellllll, she never even gave my order to the cook. Third thing to tick me off...20 plus minutes after I originally ordered, my food came out. NO APOLOGY. Not even an acknowledgement of their mistake. This was a terrible experience with this place. It was my family's first time ordering from here and we will never be back. We ordered a pan of jerk chicken for our Christmas Eve party at 12:19PM and was informed that our order will be ready at 5:30PM. I returned at 5:30PM and was told that they were still working on the food and those who ordered days before for catering would be priority. Those who ordered days prior were waiting for their food longer than some of the people who ordered their food the day of. Our complaints were met by disrespect from the owner and the only cook who was talking about the costumers as if we weren't there and couldn't hear them. The owner said that we should be grateful that he was being nice for allowing us to order food despite having orders his restaurant hadn't fulfilled from days prior. It got so bad a man had to call the police to receive a refund. I waited for 2 hours for some mediocre jerk chicken. As a manager/owner, how are you angry at costumers who are angry because you promised a service and that service wasn't fulfilled? Many people's event was over by the time they received their chicken. Along with me, it was about 7 other people who ordered pans of chicken at 12PM and was told to come back at 5:30PM and forced to wait as the owner and cook was talking about us. Not to mention, for catering orders, they require you to pay cash. To me, this suggests that they knew they would be behind and to keep people from disputing charges and leaving without their food, they forced people to pay in cash and wait as they played around in the back and refused refunds. But, ao many jerk places give auxh a hard time for a little oxtail gravy. So i didnt ask. Also, i noticed out thia way all the jerk places ive been too on the mayyeaon, Olympia Fields area give a significantly less amount of rice and peas. Jerk choice and jerk villa give you enough for a lunch the next day. This is the 3rd place I've been to that give you just a taste of rice and peas.
