Rowlett’s Milkhouse Creamery

Rowlett's is a fantastic place - a true creamery! They have the best ice cream around which is…read moremade from milk produced by dairy cattle on their old family farm. They carry a slew of other dairy products such as cheese and butter. Flavors of ice cream vary as well as store hours based on the season. I believe their facebook page gives the most reliable source for hours, typically 11-9 through the summer. Staff is always super friendly, typically you'll just see Mrs. Rowlett making and serving ice cream while her brother is busy with the various cheeses and butter. Prices are sure to not break the bank and will certainly yield more than a few smiling faces indulging in such wonderful products. Craving more than a scoop or two? Well they've got half gallons ready to go home with you currently priced $12/each. My kids say Rowlett's is the best and I wholeheartedly agree!

I promise you, you've never tasted anything close to the coffee ice cream at Rowlett's Milkhouse Creamery. You'll thank me later. I took advantage of this beautiful fall day to drive to Campbellsvirg in Henry County and see this place for myself. Our office gets special treats on birthdays and I got to enjoy the coffee ice cream and I was in love. The texture was like silk on your tongue. The hint of coffee was just enough to fit through the sweetness to make it out of this world divine!!!!! So I'll shut my piehole about the coffee ice cream and talk about the other things Rowlett's has to offer. They have a large variety of cheeses, ice creams, ice creams and butter. I was looking forward to buying some butter for the banana bread I'm getting ready to make; however, they were sold out. Oh well, i'll have to make another trip there I guess. This business is locally owned by brother and sister Terry and Sharon Rowlett. I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon when I visited today and she was as nice as she could be. This is most definitely worth the drive and a great way to support local business. Y'all gotta make the trip. You won't regret it.

This place has something of a cult following for a reason. Imagine simple favorite foods cooked…read moreconsistently, in a restaurant that feels like a cozy old general store and has friendly service. That pretty much sums up Our Best in a nutshell. I had visited before, but it was probably in the last millennium. No, seriously. For a recent weekend, we wanted to treat a family member to a birthday, their choice. They chose Our Best, and I was curious to check the place out again. We were greeted with a smile when we walked in the door, and seated immediately. Our server came over promptly and took our drink orders. We also placed an order for the fried pickles. I had a hard time choosing what I wanted for my main meal: the country chicken looked great, salmon was tempting, meatloaf sounded filling on a cold day, and even the fried chicken was appealing. I went with a very classic combo of meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. The fried pickles were plenty flavorful even without the dipping sauce, and our main course was promptly delivered. I was starving and forgot to take a photo, and I quickly ate the meatloaf meal. Like I said: simple but cooked very well and with great flavors. I ended up devouring the whole meal in short order. Other people in my party got the bluegill platter and the kids cheeseburger. Every plate ended up clean. All 6 of us ate for under $100, which is unheard of these days. Throughout the meal, our server Michelle took great care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. Worth the drive from Louisville, I think you'll find that Our Best lives up to the hype!

Homestyle cooking with everything made from scratch like what you used to have at Grandma's house!…read more There are chain restaurants that attempt to emulate down home cookin', but Our Best is the real deal. This place is insanely busy at certain times of the day and more so on weekends, but the food is exceptionally tasty and well priced so it's worth the wait. Very casual atmosphere with old photos and antiques located throughout which creates a true farmhouse ambiance. It's located in a small town and everybody knows everybody...people come here to enjoy good food and good conversations. This was our first trip and I can hardly wait to return again soon because the menu has many options for entrees and sides along with a host of desserts.
