Lounsbury was chosen by our project management company to complete several aspects of our home…read moreproject in Mattawan. The review will be separated based on project completed. Septic System: Were very efficient and respectful of the surrounding area. The risers however were left uncut and caps unsecured. It did take a few calls and time, but they are now cut and secured. Initial earthwork: Lot was cleared and basement was dug extremely quickly. Tree was removed and hauled away. The remaining material/trees were pushed into a pile. We were told this would be hauled away as well, but that might be the fault of our project manager. Final earthwork (1st): Final grade was completed and wasnt the greatest job. Definitely had some issues with water drainage. Definitely left with twigs, rocks, and roots however I believe, again, this was the result of our project manager not communicating effectively. Final earthwork (2nd): Crew came back to redo the initial final grade and resolve the water flow concerns. They did a very nice job. Additionally, they moved a shed kit on a skid from the front yard to the building location in the back yard which was well above and beyond. That was incredibly kind to do and was/is very much appreciated. Driveway: We went with asphalt millings for our driveway. There were some initial location issues however that once again was the fault of our project manager, the crew was going on the information they were given. There was some discussion about the quality of the driveway. Thru research and visual inspection of other asphalt milling driveways, I believe ours is of low quality. Millings used, in my belief, were subpar with a high dirt content and of age. Currently have a driveway/pad that is quite loose, soft, and after a few months already has many weeds growing thru. I am satisfied with their performance and would utilize them again, with one exception: the driveway. If given the option, I personally would go elsewhere, which ultimately is what we probably will do to resolve our driveway.

I have worked with Wray's for 18 years and have always been very pleased with the service. As a…read moreyoung man, the current owner Rodney installed my pump and haul tanks on an extremely challenging lakefront site. He calmly and swiftly lowered the two huge tanks into the mucky soil with phenomenal precision, at the end just smiling like it was no big thing. In the almost two decades since the install, Wrays has pumped out those tanks whenever I needed at a consistently fair price. In 2015 Wray's began doing the grading on our lake community's 3/4 mile gravel road. In that short amount of time the road has improved immensely. They got it so it drains well so it stays looking good even during road restriction season. My thanks goes out to Rod, Laurie and all the folks at Wrays.

Steve came out to anchor flanges and set two toilets 12/27. I was quoted $165 each by text on…read more12/26, which he said "included the wax rings and bolts". He added a steel reinforcement ring, $6 at Home Depot, and I was charged $565. His son, very pleasant young man, torqued down the tank bolts on a toilet I was reinstalling and the tank ended up cracked at one of the bolt holes. I tried to repair, but it was weeping so had to be replaced. I had to spend another $300 on a new toilet, which he came back to install on Monday 12/30. Despite texting me that "mistakes happen" he charged me another $235 for the 10 minutes it took to seat the new toilet. When I asked him to split the difference, he balked, reduced the charge to an additional $195. So, that's $760 to set two toilets, one of which was damaged and I didn't want to replace as it had a large tank for the ~80 ft of sewer line it was attached to. Quote texted to me was $330. Instead charged me $760. Total cost with the replacement I had to buy: $1060. Quote from Boelke, who couldn't come out until 1/3/25, was $325 (including the $98 service call). Very disappointed. Didn't honor his quote, charged another fee to replace the tank damaged by tightening the bolts, had to buy another toilet, and I'm out the toilet I wanted to keep there. He also didn't take the broken toilet to dispose of despite saying he would. Not the way to earn repeat business or get recommended to others.

I have called them on several different occasions over the past 3 months and I have never received a phone call back. This is the owner, Charlie, that is lacking the effort to communicate. I will happily pay a little more for someone who communicates properly. This is very frustrating.

I recently had a large brick patio installed in my back yard and I could not recommend Lawn Boys…read moremore highly, but I'll zero in on a few areas where I was specifically impressed 1. Spencer struck a wonderful balance between listening to what I wanted and offering expert advice. This was my first such project and while I had some aesthetic ideas, I needed a lot of help in figuring out what I wanted. The approach both fit into the limited notion I had, but also was broadly appealing (we didn't create a monstrosity that only I would like) 2. We did a great job working within the budget my wife and I laid out. We were given some options to control the cost, some of which made sense to us and others that didn't, but the options were ours--a key component was taking some "wasted space" and turning it into flower beds, and creating a contoured walkway to a secondary door rather than paving the whole thing. This looks fantastic and took the edge off of the overall expense. 3. The team works hard and over- delivers. For starters, Lawn Boys immediately put a lot of thought not only into the patio, but those thighs peripheral to it, like the flower beds including the plants in it, the lead-up to the patio from the yard, and the bordering of the patio to the yard. Lawn Boys left me with a "complete" project and not something that created a series of smaller projects for me after they were done. This holistic approach was evident even in the initial meeting where we discussed far more than the brick, this made Lawn Boys stand out from its competition forum the get-go. Secondly, Lawn Boys was able to start a full week earlier than I was quoted, and that was in the middle of the busy summer season. Lastly, due to the pandemic, I was home through the entirety of the project and was able to observe the team from time to time. The attention to craftsmanship and detail was superb as I watch the guys measure, remeasure and level numerous times to make sure it was just right. They worked exceptionally hard during a very hot week, and it shows in the results. I couldn't be happier.
