Thank you Dr. Dana Michaels... I feel so much better…read more Words cannot do it justice for feeling good when I have been feeling bad for so many years. I knew something was wrong with my gut, I tried a virtual Natropathic doctor who helped me at the time but not enough and the gut problems just kept persisting. I knew I needed a good doctor who understands holistic health and the gut to understand what was going on with me specificially. Meeting Dr. Dana's was the best experience. Getting her kind-hearted guidance to do the tests and get the protocols, I FEEL BETTER!!! I literally had to hand over my health to someone else I trusted because I had failed. I'm now on day 12 of this transformation so lots more to heal but at least I feel energetic enough to play, work, and spend quality time with family. If you feel bad the rest of the world is not great. My gut biome is on the road to recovery and that means the world to me. Thank you Dr. Dana Michaels. If you are considering working with Dr. Dana do it and your health will improve but first you got to know what is going on inside your body and no ad, internet group or friend will be able to tell you that other than doing the tests and following a protocol specific to YOUR body. Still not sure? Watch "Hack Your Health" on Netflix as they talk all about the gut biome in a very entertaining way. But notice the doctors that work with the people are learning what is going on inside of them and how to fix it. Natropathic doctors are far more capable of helping you with true gut health because they believe in a holistic approach of healthy bodies.

The dog was getting hair and saliva on my clothes and I didn't appreciate it. Perhaps not a big deal to the owner of the dog but not my preferred. Hard sales pitch launch immediately citing specials. I really just wanted a B12 shot. Hillpark Integrative where I usually get my shots for less was closed. Didn't really take time to hear me out on anything, jumped right in and then bounded into her specials. The dog was distracting, odd layout distracting, box of tissues I tripped over was distracting. Its cheaper to get the shots at Hillpark if that's what you are looking for.

James is definitely one of the best! He really listens to what you want and what you know your body responds to better. For instance, I generally don't get the same results if the same acupuncture point on both sides of my body are not done together or if I tell him I need a back treatment today, he will accommodate these things using his expertise and my intuition. Also the way he stimulates the needles to activate your Chi always gives me great results. He is also very knowledgeable as a ND. I highly recommend James if you are looking into either or both treatment options.

To Dr. Daci - I'm responding here because I don't have your direct email address and messages to…read moreyou aren't going through. First I'm astonished at your repeated edits of your response. First you told a story full of falsehoods that totally negated my experience. Basically proving my points! Then for a moment, you seemed to be respecting my experience, finally saying, "Your concerns about my communication and approach are valuable, and I'm committed to refining how I connect with patients." But you deleted that today and instead put this "It is unfortunate that we were not able to find common ground and connect despite my sincere attempts -- this was a first for me." Ah again you're the hero and my feedback and sincere attempts are invisible. And was common ground the point? Not your skill at what you promise? Or caring about the patient's actual experience, not just your story about who you think you are? And I bet this has happened before. You make it hard to be heard. Which was basically my point. You worked hard to make this something wrong with me. I asked for what I needed at the session and you brushed that aside. You didn't see it. Oh, I'll add another thing that felt uncomfortable for me was you charging my credit card with $585 when I made the appointment, three weeks in advance. I've NEVER had a doctor or healer do that. I got the bill before the appointment. I realize now it put me in a position where I couldn't just end the appointment, and we didn't have a moment at the end to discuss the amount. It felt like you were taking care of yourself, not your patient. As I said in my original post, I tried two ways afterwards to communicate my experience of our session to you. A memo, giving examples. And on the phone, during the followup call. As I shared here, I felt my feedback totally blown off by you. And so I shared my experience with others here. I've sought to be fair and factual. And really - won't this help you avoid having patients that have needs like mine? Meanwhile, I met with another healer today who easily did what you did not. Welcomed me, told me the plan in advance, mirrored what she heard me say, asked what I needed, behaved consistent with her described values. It was a thing of beauty, and reminded me what a healthy dynamic feels like. So I'm good. I hope you do take this as an opportunity to learn. But your response is your choice, and just reflects on you.

Lois Johnson is a different kind of doctor who has a different kind of office with it's own unique…read morepharmacy. Her pharmacy is like Rosemary's Garden meets Dollar Drug. Her office resembles a living room more than a cold surgery room. But that doesn't mean she's not a qualified MD. My impression of the practice: I would expect to find her in Sebastopol or Occidental, and on my first visit I was taken aback by many things, but mostly to find her practicing in Santa Rosa. As far as holistic practitioners, she goes way beyond Hill Park and Brian Bouch in Petaluma. And if they seem "heavy handed" as the one bad review stated, it is to stress the importance of taking the prescribed medication as directed, and making follow-up appointments. You have to have confidence in alternative medicine or you may not feel comfortable paying for the treatment. When I went, the practice was self-pay (did not accept my insurance) and pretty expensive for me, including the prescribed medications from the pharmacy. And there were refills that were equally expensive. The prescriptions are almost certainly not going to be covered by any insurance. I saw Lois Johnson at a time when I had exhausted all other options. I had a "successful" cancer treatment that had left me permanently disabled with nerve damage. No doctor would believe I had a problem, let alone treat it. I saw Lois, she was understanding, listened and believed I was in pain. That was very important to me at the time, but she didn't have the answer for me other than just acceptance of lifelong pain and loss. I later found help from a western medicine specialist in San Francisco. That's my story. I wasn't really impressed. But my mother saw Lois for a different issue with a lot of success (she doesn't write Yelp reviews). Mom had been given a medication by her primary care doctor to help with hot flashes. An SSRI or an SNRI. The side effects were not tolerable so she tried to stop taking it. But she couldn't. She had horrible withdrawals when she tried to stop. No other doctor would even believe my mom, let alone help her. Lois saw her and their pharmacy compounded the medication in very small doses so my mom could reduce the medication more slowly. It made a huge difference and she successfully tapered off. So, 3.5 stars. One of a kind holistic MD with a compound / herbal pharmacy that practices alternative medicine and helps with unique medical issues if you can afford it.
