The switch was a GAME CHANGER for my knee. In Beltsville, I received no formal intake, or if I did, it paled in comparison to the thorough intake I received from Eric in College Park. Tim never printed out any exercises for me to do at home in between appts and since it was my first time receiving PT, I didn't realize that was the norm. I didn't understand my experience of pain very well, and Tim didn't help me understand it OR the goals of what we were doing together. I made SUCH little progress and in fact, even felt like I went backwards, having to use crutches again. The advice I got for the pain was to put my leg up and ice it. WRONG advice to give. According to Eric in College Park, I needed to move my knee. He helped me get a real understanding of what was good pain and what was bad. What muscles I should really be focusing on strengthening and why, etc. One week after seeing Eric in CP I was off crutches, walking normally up the stairs and in a lot LESS pain. I didn't realize what poor physical therapy I was receiving until I actually saw a professional.

The results under her guidance are far superior to other PT experiences I've had. After total knee replacement, Monique, and as well Mr. Ho, encouraged and marshaled the enormous confidence and motivation required to get off the walker and cane. In only four weeks they added 70 degrees range of motion to the knee, which led to crucial cancellation of an imminent second operation to remove scar tissue. I had chronic hip pain for years and I finally went to PT for it because it had gotten to the point where it was affecting my sleep and day-to-day functioning. The Orthopedic Specialist just diagnosed it as SI joint pain (which really is a symptom of other problems not a cause) after charging a hundreds of dollars and told me to get PT. In the future I would probably skip the specialist visit and just go straight to PT for nonsurgical issues. Now, Acro PT is out of pocket and doesn't accept most insurance so that does make it more expensive than most other PT practices that do accept insurance if you have it, but it's worth it for Angie's expertise. I tried a traditional local PT practice and they just assigned me a PT exercise plan without having much hands on time at all. Angie does manual therapy (hands-on massage), deep dry needling, and really understands how the body works. After only 4 sessions I have noticed remarkable improvement in my hip pain and have hope that I can eventually become pain free with continued adherence to my PT exercises. Thank you Angie!
