This place is a little gem.
I was surprised to find this place for such good value a mere five miles away from a nearby wedding venue. With three of us staying there, it worked out at £25 each a night (including a cute four poster bed, may I add), meaning we could stop the night before for extra getting ready time with plenty of gin money left in our purses.
Check in is from three, and we arrived before four, with the heating already put on for us, and dying for a cup of tea we realised that not only was the little hospitality tray in the kitchen clean and well stocked, there was also a stash of a tin of proper chocolate biscuits.
Jennie popped over to say hello, explaining the heating and the jacuzzi bath, and encouraging us to eat one of the gorgeous apple and blackberry pies from the freezer (we did, it was amazing- purple is definitely the best flavour). There is a well equipped kitchen- I'm the sort who takes towels and washing up liquid with me, but there was no need for that here, well equipped bathroom, hand washes, disposable razors if you've forgotten yours, bubble bath the works, a book shelf cover with a good variety of books and games, tv, and no wifi. Phone signal is fine, but those of you glued to your phones without decent data plans may be disheartened.
Upstairs the bedrooms were adorable, a curtained single bed in one, and a four poster double bed in the other, curtained rails for wardrobes, extra sheets and quilts and an ironing board.
It was more to my cutesie old fashioned taste than my companions, and I really did love it, they did too, they just prefer more modern duvets. There are benches, swathes of snowdrops and aviaries in the garden. Parking is ample and gated, but you will probably need to wash your car after your trip what with the muddy track- It's worth noting if you, or you and whoever you're going with have a choice of an average height car rather than something low and spray, I'd drive in that one!
The place, and the host are a perfect combo, and I'll give you the tip that you'll feel even more at home if you remember to take your slippers, it's just that sort of place! read more
