A real gem of Coos Bay! I came in unsure of what exactly I needed, and reluctant to spend $200+ on a high end pair of shoes online without being informed of what specifically I would benefit from. When I came into the store, I was greeted warmly and professionally by the two lovely ladies working on the floor. I browsed through the many options available, but wasn't sure what to look for as a comfortable, durable option to use through long work hours standing in place. I wish I would have gotten the sales associate's name, she was so knowledgeable and truly helpful. She educated me about a properly fitting shoe, what specifically about the components of the shoe would help my biomechanics to relieve my low back pain, and really made me feel like she cared a lot more about teaching me what I need rather than selling me a product. Not only did she end up finding me an excellent shoe in my budget, but I even found another few pairs that I can't wait to go back for as soon as I can afford to do so. This is my first real "grown up" nice pair of work shoes (Danskos) and she made the whole process so much less intimidating by explaining everything to me in detail, including how to properly put on/take off and cycle out shoes to keep them in peak condition for longer. I felt like she was genuinely trying to make sure I had the best understanding possible of what would be the top choice for my specific needs and body rather than trying to make a sale or steer me towards the pricier options on the floor. I always love supporting a local family owned business, but Jennie's makes it an incredibly easy choice to keep coming back to a place with extraordinary service, reasonable pricing, expertise in their field, and layaway options to work for any budget. I will be happily recommending this business to anyone who is in the market for new shoes, insoles, socks, or anyone who (like me) was woefully uninformed of what goes into the process of choosing footwear that suits your anatomy and activity. This is the best customer service I have ever received in any shoe store, possibly any store ever. The owner and the saleswoman were both so helpful. They provided personal attention and took extra time to make sure my daughter understood the best shoe for her unique situation. The selection of shoes and the sizes offered were beyond my expectations. Jennie's Shoe store in downtown Coos Bay is the last of a dying breed. A real shoe store where your feet can be measured if need be and where service is the name of the game. I've been buying shoes from this store for years and been waited on by the owner and his occasional staff person. They have always been helpful and friendly and pleasantly talkative. Jennie's sells high quality shoes that last for years if rotated with other pairs of shoes. They also sell Thorlos hiking socks which are extremely comfortable and pretty much all I wear on my feet. My friend introduced me to them years ago and now I don't want any other kind of sock. They last and last. I"m just "Keen" on Jennie's Shoe's. There aren't many places like this left and sadly when the owner retires the store might as well. Let's hope someone steps up and keeps it going. Downtown Coos Bay needs this store. read more

I would have agreed with the positive reviews however a few minutes ago I was looking at shoes (having already bought a pair along with my friend who has bought countless shoes and bags there in the past), the owner asked me to leave with my sons service dog. It is obvious that my friends' son experiences autism. The law clearly provides for service animals. While they have a very nice selection of shoes, this business owner needs to follow the law. read more

I have been a long-time customer of Jennie's and have not only spent a lot of money here but sent countless others to them. The sales staff has always been wonderful until today. My friend and I had taken my son, who is profoundly disabled and his service dog to downtown to enjoy the blackberry festival. I had just spent over $350 in shoes and bags and my friend was actually looking to spend more, when she was told to take the dog outside. Mind you this is a proper working service dog, with tags, accompanying his disabled handler. When I told the store owner that this was indeed a service animal, clearly working, I was told that "he wasn't servicing anyone" and he could not stay. The owner and the store are in clear violation of the A.D.A. A comment was made that the dog was not marked. The law does not require that the dog wear any kind of special ID, although he had them on. It is readily apparent that my son is profoundly disabled. It was incredibly disrespectful to my son and the disability community for the owner, Bill to blatantly ignore the Americans with Disabilities Act and in such a rude and offensive manner. I will never shop there again. I would encourage the owner to review the law and his responsibility as a merchant and a human being to respect it. read more

Mama saw a pair of sandals in the window while we were at the Farmer's Market while we were staying in Coos Bay, Oregon and we decided to check this place out. Looked like there was a pretty decent selection of shoes and sandals here, but mama knew exactly what she wanted to try on so we didn't do much exploring. This adorable old man came up to us and asked if we needed anything, mama said she wanted to try on the sandals, and that's all. "That's all I have to do?" he said, and chuckled as he walked away. He sat my mom down and put both sandals on her and adjusted the straps to her size. Let her walk around a bit to see if she liked them, and then boxed up the sandals she came in with so she could wear the new sandals out. While we were at the register buying the sandals, he was chatting both of us up. We told him that we were from Southern California, and that mama hardly ever wears shoes because she likes her feet to breathe. After hearing that he took us over and showed us a brand of sandals that would work perfectly for my mama. She tried them on and they looked great! (dressy enough for work/comfortable enough to wear all the time). But....he was a little too late. Mama had already spent $70 on the other pair of sandals...so we didn't buy the other pair. The customer service here is just wonderful. The woman that owns the place and the little old man are so friendly and helpful. We'd definitely come back again, unfortunately we live a million miles away... If you're into Crocs (ew...) they have lots of different colors and "styles" as well as the little things you can put in the holes to personalize your Crocs.... read more

Best shoe store in Coos County! (Maybe in all of Oregon). I've gotten three pairs of shoes from here. Obviously, the shoes are great quality and super comfortable, but Jennie's stands behind their product. Additionally, customer service is absolutely outstanding. I especially love that we have a local shoe store where you can try on the shoes and make sure you have the correct size, and make sure the shoe is going to be the right shoe for you, before purchasing. I actually came in with a shoe in mind, but ended up purchasing something different that I like even better. Suzy is amazing! I just told her my concerns and what I needed, and she found me the perfect shoe. Some people might think they can get a better deal online, but everything I've seen is competitively priced. Even if the shoes were ever a little more, I'd be willing to spend it for the service you receive shopping here, and the peace of mind of trying on before buying. A friend of mine to decided to spend her hard earned money at Jennie's Shoes and the disrespectful and disgusting 'customer service' she received there is absolutely shocking. This woman is a wonderful human being who has dedicated her life to helping others in multiple ways and has been working extremely hard to get healthy and in shape. This woman should be seen as an inspiration and instead, she was ridiculed by someone who knew nothing of her or her history. As a reward for sticking with her goal of running (she made it past the 1 month mark!), she decided to treat herself to a new pair of running shoes from Jennie's Shoes. Upon purchasing these shoes, the man who was assisting her proceeded to ask her what the shoes were going to be used for. When she replied "running" the man completely changed demeanor and began to tell her she was too heavy to run and that she was going to injure herself if she attempted to do so. This man has no idea who she was, her medical history, and is obviously not a medical professional, what makes him feel like he has any right to comment on her purchase? It is, under no circumstances, his place to comment on anything other than how fantastic her new shoes are. Period. The rudeness and disrespect shown by this man is appalling to me. It is not his job to critique her life or her body and how dare he feel like he is good enough to do so. Instead of encouraging her to continue on her journey like any decent human being would have, he ridiculed and mocked her. Because of this incident alone, I will not be shopping at Jennie's and will encourage anyone I met to do the same. I refuse to support a business that allows their employees to treat anybody in such a completely unacceptable manor. read more

Fabulous customer service and products! Gorgeous store, very helpful, knowledgeable staff. Desperately needed appropriate footwear for our construction project and was directed to Keen-Dry boots. It was a rainy day so I immediately tried them on our clay-muddy mountain slope. Felt like I was wearing studded snow tires! They are even waterproof but breathable, comfy, supportive...does it get any better? So grateful for the professionalism at Jennie's...AND my most appropriate footwear! They were busy but 3-4 customers were easily handled at a time. read more
