As the only campground in the island getting a site isn't easy but worth it. If you like campion nature this is the place. Surrounded by live oaks and pines, plenty of birds and squirrels running around. There's all the facilities you would need and with the island road a big loop, bring your bicycle or rent one !! This is beautiful area, be mindful it's a state part so you'll have to pay $10to enter or get a multi day pass.

This is our third time staying here and it has gone downhill. The bath house is absolutely disgusting. In the women's Only two out of six toilets were working. Two out of four showers. It was dirty and grimy. My husband said the men's bathroom both urinals were taped up and there was only one toilet available. He said it smelled like diarrhea in there every time he went in. We paid $50/night!

We camp here at least once a year to participate in a local 5k. The bathrooms/showers are outdated and the sites are close, but that does not keep us away. We love the location! I was happy to see they added new updated bathrooms/showers and they are expanding the campground. The workers are always helpful and you just can't beat the location. We are already scheduling our trip for next year. Note: Toll to get on the island is $10 per day. Cons: although WiFi is free it is very unstable. Cable is also free but we could not pick up any channels.

This RV / campsite is busy all year long. Reservations can be difficult to garner. It's worth a visit if you can get in with your RV. Jekyll is iconic and accessible -- big draws for visitors. Public facilities are clean. Adjacent areas will open for expansion. Yet, the park is and will remain a small operation relative to much larger campgrounds around the U.S.

Best camping trip ever. Clean bathrooms. The staff is amazing from the very welcoming greeting in the store and all their knowledge of Jekyll Island. To their awesome hosts. Easy check in. Shout out to Kimberly Dixon for managing this campground. Excellent service! 10 out of 10!

First of all, we tent camp a lot all over the country. The tent area is in the trees at the very back of the campground like they are trying to hide you. The mosquitoes at this campground in mid June were TERRIBLE. We expected it to be hot in Georgia in the summer and we expected mosquitoes but WOW. We never spent any time during our two days here at the actual campground. No sitting around the campsite outdoors, no sitting around a fire. Just knew better than to even try it. We got up in the mornings and left, and came back at dark, showered and went to bed. The morning we were leaving I took the tent down and threw everything in the van and drove to the beach on the other side of the island where there was an ocean breeze and no mosquitoes and totally repacked the van there. No way I would have tried it at the campground. Next, you cannot walk to any of the swimming beaches from the campground. You can walk to the fishing pier area which has beaches around it but the signs there said the water was not safe to swim in due to high bacteria levels. So you have to drive to the swimming beaches about 10 minutes away. The restrooms and showers were about a 3 out of 10. Hot water but not the cleanest. The only good thing I could say about this campground is two of the four camp hosts I met were nice. I would not stay here again. The beaches on Jekyll are nice, especially the grassy areas above the beach and the picnic facilities, and the water is like most beaches in NC and SC, brown but ok. The waves were good. However, once you get out so far out in the ocean you walk in muck. Not good. It was cool finding sand dollars. Driftwood beach was cool. The area around the fishing pier and St. Andrew's Beach on the other end of the island were rough. Rough characters hanging around. "Downtown Jekyll" was ritzy and expensive and the people act like they are in Beverly Hills. It was an ok place to visit for two days but we won't be going back.

This is MOSQUITO HEAVEN! Seriously! It's like a biblical plague. And the golf cart camp cop needs to breathe. I literally just walked out of my camper with my dogs and stoped to light a tiki torch so we didn't get eaten alive and he pulled in to tell me to get my dogs on a leash. The dogs were standing at the door wanting back inside and the leashes were in my hand, so it's not like we were running wild with no intention of following rules. My thought was "how about get your mosquitos on a leash". Reading other reviews it looks like bugs have been a serious issue here for years. I can't believe the health department doesn't require them to do something about it.

    The campsite.

Our pull‑through site had full hookups (30 & 50 amp service) and plenty of room to maneuver, making setup easy and stress‑free. Each site is beautifully lined on both sides with magnolia bushes and trees, providing a surprising amount of privacy and a peaceful, park‑like feel. We also appreciated that each site has a separate spigot for washing your rig or vehicle, which is a thoughtful and convenient feature. One of the biggest advantages for us was the easy access to I‑95. We used this campground as a two‑night stopping point to break up our drive from Myrtle Beach to Miami, and the location was perfect--quick on and off the highway without the noise you might expect. The amenities here truly stand out. There are multiple bath houses and laundromats, all clean and convenient, plus a well‑stocked store with RV supplies and LP gas. The entire resort is handicap accessible, which is clearly reflected in the layout and facilities. There's no shortage of things to do--fishing on the lake, relaxing by the swimming pool, or enjoying shuffleboard, horseshoes, and the game room. The pavilion fire rings, dock, and conference center add even more versatility. What really sets this place apart is the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming. When we had an issue, they quickly referred us to a local mobile RV repair technician, who was wonderful and took great care of us. This campground is excellent as an overnight or travel stop, but it's so well‑kept, quiet, and amenity‑rich that we would absolutely recommend it for a longer stay as well. We would happily return.

We came here to see their fishing pier, not realizing that it's also a venue for horseback riding. But the signs say this as you are entering the area. This is one of the few really buggy places we encountered on island. In fact, the buggiest. We were glad we had some spray on. So, plan ahead if you're coming here. We drove in on a very narrow road along with a few of the bicycle riders. We passed some of the picnic areas with tables and grills. We parked along the water in the small, paved lot next to the bait and tackle shop/convenience store (it seems to have a bit of everything). We took a walk part of the way down the pier. It is quite large and T-shaped with a straightaway section that's open air and a partly covered area further out into the water. We stopped and talked to some of those who were fishing. We were curious to see what they were catching, if anything. We were told flounder and sheepshead. (Just a note: both are tasty fish, and we were surprised to find no restaurants on island serving either of these fish.). It was delightful with a slight breeze. The park is located across the road from a campground so that may be why there were a lot of bike riders here. In addition, there is a jogging trail which we didn't explore. Supposedly you can see some ships from this pier, as well, but we didn't see any at the time we were there.

This area features a fishing pier, a bait & tackle / convenience shop, picnic areas, grill areas, public restrooms, beach access, views of the sunset, bike and hiking paths, and pens from which the horseback rides embark. This is a very cool place, but i experienced two drawbacks. One was the gnats. Nowhere else on the island did I get gnats than here. I was all over the island, all times of day and night, and honestly this was the only spot where i felt any bugs! I presume it's because of the fish being caught everywhere, but still it's unpleasant. I wish the parks department would look into insect control. If toxins are a concern, natural solutions like nematodes and bats are great at controlling bugs. The other issue was some of the people who consistently hung out at this location. I definitely felt safe everywhere on this island, but I did feel a little intimidated at this spot with some of the fishermen. It seemed like people were casing one another, for what, I do not know. But there was this weird anxiousness and paranoia going on for a lot of the fishing people. Maybe they were competing with one another for the best spot to fish? Just kind of pacing past one another, giving dirty looks. Odd. Or maybe they were just losing their minds from the bugs? People were definitely on edge any time I visited this place. I smiled at many, no one smiled back. Just odd. So those things aside, I recommend you plan to wear bug repellent and just keep moving around as you visit this place. Idk how people were grilling and having picnics with those gnats. Good for them. But my advice is to just make your rounds to see everything and hike it outta there to anywhere else on the island if you want to just sit and chill!

Hiking and biking trails are NOT the same thing as a campground!!!! I hope Yelp can get its act together to acknowledge the trails on this island, which are a huge draw for visitors, and which have their own web presence as acknowledged by the Golden Isles tourism org, as well as the state parks system! JEKYLL ISLAND TRAIL SYSTEM So this review goes with the dozens of photos I posted of the trails all over the island, better known as the Jekyll Island Trail System. JI has over 25 miles of paved trails throughout the island. They also have dirt/sand trails, and gravel trails. Most trails are handicapped accessible, though I'd stick to the paved ones if exploring on wheels of any kind. It is very popular to circumnavigate the perimeter of the island, which can be done, nonstop, in under an hour on bike. But you can easily spend a day traveling this island by bike if you pause to take in all the sights. I would not call any of the trails difficult, neither for biking, nor for walking. The island is mostly flat, so virtually no inclines at all, and the paths are so well-maintained that you will never encounter overgrowth or mud or anything on the paved or boardwalk trails. From Corsair Beach Park, northward, one can ride their bike on the beach, including all over Driftwood Beach, which is arguably the main attraction of not only Jekyll Island, but all of the Golden Isles put together! Other worthy stops include the Historic District, St. Andrews Picnic Area, and Clam Creek Picnic Area. But those are just highlights. Bikes can't go on the southern beaches because it is a haven for sea turtle nests. However, you can chain your bike in the parking lot and walk these beaches, which are worth every second of detour. Beach Village is another fun stop, and the perimeter bike trail goes right through it. Beach Village houses Love Shack inside Jekyll Market, which is my top recommendation for a food stop! On the southern end of the island, there are a lot of inland trails, running through swamp, and under thick tree canopies, allowing you to really explore the innards of the island, and a lot of wildlife. At the northern end, between Clam Creek and Driftwood Beach, there is a trail through the swamp that has beautiful views in every direction, especially at sunset. More toward the center of the island, Tupelo Trail runs past Horton Pond, and Shell Rd. Trail navigates some of the best wildlife spotting areas on the island.
