Jeff represented my son when he was young and having problems with substance abuse and impulse control that some kids just have during that time of life. I took my son, who had no license at the time, to Jeff's office, and we explained the situation. The thing I liked immediately was that when the time came to discuss the fee, he wanted to be sure it was my son paying if possible, and not me, and it really made the kid feel more invested in the process, and respected. It also saved me having to argue with my son later to get him to reimburse me, if I had just written a check, which I could have done. I think Jeff is a great lawyer and is good with people, and I have heard other lawyers say that too. read more

Five more stars for Attorney Columber!!!…read more We were victorious in court yesterday. AWESOME!!! Eric handled my case expertly and I couldn't have asked for more. Prior to the trial, he made sure that both myself and my witnesses were thoroughly prepared. He had useful advice about how to answer questions on the stand and how to respond in a constructive manner to even inflammatory remarks. He even managed to get the judge to allow me to testify via phone -- this saved me SO MUCH in respect to time, money, and convenience (have you seen the price of a round-trip ticket to Maine lately?!). He is competent, professional, and dedicated. After two years' worth of work on my case, we've finally reached a turning point and I can breathe again. I cannot recommend Eric enough -- if you need an attorney who will handle your legal matters professionally yet empathetically (and most importantly, with a sense of humor), definitely give this guy a call. And bring him a beer for me while you're at it.

Steer clear. This man was paid $5k to have a Probate Court adopted contract enforced for damages. He failed to file a breach of contract complaint over the course of three years apparently a sympathizer with the other team; did EXACTLY the same thing that my former attorney did and was dismissed by the Supreme Court as bogus in the same case; and when he found out I was legally disabled he pretended to be compassionate, but ultimately was covering his own butt by covering his stupidity up. I ended up on SSDI and lost everything plus th e$398,055 I was owed because this slippery eel played WoW with my life then abandoned all fiduciary duty. Also, he is not licensed to practice in federal court. Thus he is unable to protect your civil rights as an American Citizen. In Hancock Country one needs to be protected, particularly in criminal matters where cops make their own rules & mistakes. The judge will overlook them. Be forwarded. Go to Portland to retain an attorney. read more

ATTORNEY JEFFREY TOOTHAKER IS THE WORST! Please don't buy the positive reviews here! Toothaker is an arrogant drunk who won't even talk to his clients, but will readily sabotage them behind their backs. Within a few minutes of meeting me for the first time, Toothaker egregiously violated another of his client's attorney-client privilege: He said that he is representing another client who is facing a murder charge and said, "He's guilty as Hell! [...] And there was more than one!" Seriously. Toothaker should not just be disbarred, he should probably be in prison. Please YouTube 'The Swanvillan' or see 'Despicable Maine' or other sources for proof of his treachery before letting this Toothache anywhere near your case! (I'd give negative stars if I could.) read more

Jeff Toothaker is the perfect example of inadequate council at it's finest. Working directly with the district attorney to convict all clients assigned by the kangaroo court he works for. Screwing over, compulsive lier, inadequate council best describes Jeff. read more
