Good busses when they actually let you on the bus! The one I was just waiting for was 20 minutes late and it didn't even stop!! Just went right on by and when I called the dispatcher they basically shrugged it off and said they would see if the driver will come back, which of course he didn't. Now I'm going to miss my morning job, my classes, and I have to tell my brand new job, which tomorrow is DAY1 of, that I won't be making it. Fantastic start. Thanks Jefferson Lines! read more

Unlike the comment says below, I did answer them on facebook. Took a screenshot. Still have not responded. They have my phone number too. When they announce the rules on the bus, nothing is said about making sure your baggage ticket is directly from a bus station. If your not picked up at a bus station, a personal tag won't be accepted so, you need to get your bag from under the bus when you get to a bus station or they just leave it there and it gets stolen. Why don't the bus drivers carry these tickets? They weren't even supposed to put the bag on the bus without one from what Greyhound told me. read more

I have used Jefferson Lines twice. The first time was a straight up nightmare. I arrived at the bus station in Williston, ND at 9 am to purchase a ticket because that is when the website said they were open. Turns out they didn't open until 1 pm. Instead of changing the website they had a sign at their office, of course everyone would Jay know what it said. The staff at the office was very rude as well. The 27 hour trip to Kansas City was fairly uneventful, but on the return trip it was hell. The 'assistant driver' kept harassing people about smoking in the bathroom, which no one was doing and threatened to throw then off the bus no matter where we were. The next driver not much better, she would demand to search people's purchases when we speed near service stations. My second trip was from Bismarck to Williston and when I bought my tickets they lay was not exactly ride but she gave of the feeling that I was wasting her oh so precious time. I seriously considered paying 5 times the fare cost just to take a taxi because it would be less demeaning. read more

I'm giving this two stars because I arrived on time and alive, but honestly I thought I was going to die several times. I rode the bus from Green Bay to Minneapolis on Sunday 10/14. I think the bus driver was named Mark. He was a piece of work. It started when he was smoking by the bus and whistled at me to give him my ticket. With guys, he would say "What do you want?" when they tried to give him their ticket. He has a running commentary on everything going on around him (complaining about other drivers, etc). That's fine, but the thing that really worried me was he was looking at his phone multiple times, chugging Mountain Dews and tic tacs and eating meat sticks while driving. He also speeds up to tailgate people at high speeds when they piss him off. I really thought he was going to drive right through other cars or drive off the road multiple times. I seriously thought about getting off the bus in St Paul to take the light rail the rest of the way. On a positive note, he's very good at keeping you in the loop about how long we'll be at other stops, what the weather is like ahead and when there is drama on other buses. read more

Needed to catch a flight in Minneapolis.... Arrived a my stop in Shawno Wisc. When bus is 20mins past due..... attendant walks out an tells me Jefferson canceled tonights run. I Called customer service.... was told it our fault an no problem on your refund....no explanation of a wreck of break down..."we canceled the trip"... Did my online request for my refund as they instructed.... their reply floored me..... "Our policy clearly states it's not our fault if we don't make it, and then it list all of their specific exclusions So it's 100% my fault??? these guys have no rating with the BBB.... they burned me at a new level.....do anything you can to avoid this company......or make sure your ticket has a refund option.....but then again they probably have people trained to explain why it still won't matter...."our policy clearly states NOTHING is our fault...... read more

we have a friend that used Jefferson Lines from St Joseph MO to Brookings SD on Friday March 20, the bus driver was over driving road conditions and crashed the bus (charges pending from the highway patrol), the company was absolutely terrible about helping the people that were in the crash, our friend was hurting and another route going to Omaha picked them up from the hospital from being checked out in Vermillion SD and took them to Omaha with the bus then to return to Sioux Falls but nothing to Brookings until Monday so they offered to have her ride to Des Moines to the Twin Cities to Fargo then to Brookings. she finally got them to agree to put her up in a motel in Sioux Falls however they only want to do it for Friday night not until they have the bus to finish her trip. For a company that has charges pending against the drivers one would think they would do everything they can to help their customers, however they are falling short. She did see a bill board for Hoy trial lawyers for personal injury attorneys that is what they must want as a pissed off customer instead of one that was well taken care of is more likely to push the matter. I hope she does and the company will complain everyone is sue happy but what choice has Jefferson Lines given her. read more

Jefferson lines left my great grandson and I at the Minneapolis Airport without even stopping at the boarding area. We arrived at 1:20am and were to board at 4am. We saw the bus drop off people at the next floor up and then leave. There is one bus daily to our destination. They did refund our money. That was it. There is so much more involved when one expects to get a ride and the ride never comes. I will never again trust them to pick me up as scheduled. What a fiasco! read more

I booked a last minute trip the night before. Then showed up at the station at 6 AM to find out my bus was cancelled. They never notified me of the cancellation - and were surprised to hear that I was even able to book the ticket late the night before due to all the cancellations. Despite all this - the company offered no help or refund. They directed me to a phone number, where I spoke with a very rude and impatient woman who hung up on me before offering any sort of help other than visit the website. From there, I filed a complaint and was told I would be contacted in 6 weeks. All in all - don't expect this company to care about you if anything goes wrong on your trip. read more

Took the bus from Duluth to the Twin Cities. Driver ended up on 35E instead of 35W, and had to take a 45 minute loop back to Blaine before she could go back to the stop at the UofM campus. We literally passed the UofM stop. I ended up being super late to a very important meeting. 0/10 would ride again. read more

My significant other got tickets and missed a connecting bus because his bus arrived late. Everybody else got another ticket for 6 pm the day of, and he got one for 6 AM tomorrow. According to his peers, this is a decently common problem which they should be working on fixing. He tried to talk to the ticket agent, but the person didn't even acknowledge his existence. No compensation and the agents don't even treat the customers like fellow humans. Maybe they should hire people that aren't so audaciously loathsome. We used this bus company for a charter service for our wedding. We wanted to have a bus that would bring guests to and from the hotels. This would accommodate out of town guests and prevent people from drinking and driving. We chose Jefferson because it was the company that our friends used for their wedding. My husband was the one who dealt with setting the entire thing up. From my conversations with him they were by far the most professional service. Many of the other services just didn't respond. Jefferson was also willing to work with us on the price, but they were the cheapest and offered the best buses. The bus itself was great. Everyone we talked to after the wedding commented on how nice the bus was; not only that we offered it, but the quality of the bus. The seats were comfy, it had wifi (not that we needed it on our short trip), and it was big enough to accommodate everyone. Really what this company owes this great review to is Troy B, our bus driver. We ran one shuttle going to the wedding, and then three shuttles going back to the hotels. So basically the bus would just make a loop throughout the night. My mom took the 2nd to last shuttle and was probably the only person going to her hotel. Well when I got off the bus Troy pulled me aside. He told me that he had spent the entire ride back with my mom talking to her. He said that she made his night and how much fun he had driving with her. He then gave me a hug and said he was so happy for us and he wished us a great future. Words cannot express how much that meant to me. Being a gay couple it was always kind of a fear in the back of our minds as to how people would treat us. Odds were high that they wouldn't say no to us, but that doesn't mean they have to be nice to us. Troy's small act of appreciation and kindness meant so much to us. He was a total stranger who was overwhelmed with joy and happiness for us. He went above and beyond in my book. For that alone this company will have a place in my heart, as will Troy. The first time I rode this bus I was suppose to be picked up in Staples, MN. The bus driver drove right by and when I caught up to it in Wadina he said he stopped but did not see me and "the cashier waved him on", even though there is no check in at this location. Those wheels did not even pause! The second time I rode this bus I was suppose to be dropped off in Staples, MN. The driver never even got off the highway this time because dispatch told him "there is no one getting on at that location so skip it to make up time". I guess it never occurred to them that people have to get off as well, especially if they paid to get off there! I had to make the driver drop me off at a random gas station in Motley, where I had to wait for my grandparents to pick me up. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE! Went to get on the bus yesterday for the very first time using Jefferson Lines and was extremely disappointed trying to explain to the driver that my luggage had not arrived to Bozeman Montana yet even though I was already there be a different best route from Greyhound and getting a ride here driver did not like that I did not agree with his opinion told me I was arguing with him and kicked me off the bus extremely disappointed called the complaint line they told me don't argue with a guy that drivers do what they want to and they have no control over the drivers from that fact alone I would not use Jefferson Line less you have to for a business that relies solely on customer service as their business very disappointed read more

Purchased a Refundable ticket recently from msp to lichtfield mn. I did not mind paying the extra $5 for the refundable aspect, as my party in Mn could not positively commit to being available that day to get me at the airport. He was able to get me, so I returned the ticket and requested a refund. 3 weeks later I received a letter from Jefferson Lines informing me that there was no refund because the ticket was non-refundable. Ticket was enclosed with the word "refundable" scratched out. REALLY? What a waste. read more

My Mom who is 72 yr old and has limited mobility insisted she could take the bus from Omaha to Mpls and back for a visit. I was not excited about her doing this and I should not have worried. The staff at the Mpls depot, Jacqui- in particular; and the bus drivers, Bryant 'Bear' Payne-in particular exemplified professional customer service. Even the security guard keeping the sidewalk clear of non-travellers did so in a low-key and effective manor. The bus depot is not the scary place it use to be. To begin this, I'm going to describe experience. I managed to buy my correct tickets to take me from Ames, IA to Wausau, WI. However my bus from Ames was running late and when getting to my transfer point in St. Paul, MN, I was notified the bus to Wausau already left... SO of course I'm a tad ticked because my driver knew where I had to go and when I had to be there. Well, a young man from Jefferson Lines took me to the office in St. Paul and tried to find me another bus that would quickly get me on my way. Come to find out that was the ONLY ONE going to wausau, but the bus that left was only 10 minutes away. Think they'd turn around? NO. dispatch wouldn't allow it. So I was then put on a bus for Eau Claire which is 100 miles away from where I needed to be!! The young man who did what he could, and was also equally frustrated told me to call customer service and complain... I did just that but they told me it was my fault!! Since the bus for wausau was there and left on time and I wasn't, there wasn't anything they could do. HOW ABOUT TRACK, COMUNICATE, AND COORDINATE WITH YOUR DRIVERS! I understand that drivers can't use their cellphones when driving but the buses are GPS equipped, you know what passengers are going where, and you should be able to communicate late buses easily... apparently not though. Now my family has to waste their time and more money because of this company by having to come pick me up from Eau Claire, I could've been 10 minutes from home (Wausau). Their customer service was nothing but attitude & excuses, I asked if I could talk to someone else about it because the woman wasn't understanding, that was responded to by "they'll say the same thing". I asked if I could have a reasonable refund for inconveniences and that was also a No, because it was my fault I wasn't there.... I WASN'T DRIVING THE BUS! Bus cancelled 4/15/2018, would not give refund! What company does not give refund when THEY cancel the service contracted for?? Answer = Jefferson Lines!! They told me I could use the ticket for up to a year afterwards. I call to reschedule 3/4/2019 and am told my ticket has expired and it cost $20 to reissue even if Jefferson cancels ticket. Hmm.. nope, not yet 1 year, so I ask for supervisor. I'm told this will have to be taken care of in person and I should go to the station. Well, I go to station and am told my ticket is "not in the system anymore". I persevere and am able to get ticket without having to pay ridiculous reissue fee. Person at station comments "they could have done this over the phone". VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Jefferson Lines, you need to get your act together! Any other company issues a refund when they do not perform service which was contracted for! read more

I never had a problem with Jefferson Lines / Greyhound until June 9th 2018. I've been taking the bus for almost a year now and on June 9th my driver just totally ignored three stops. I went from St Paul Minnesota wanting to go to Minneapolis Hawthorne station like I have in the past. Because the driver missed three stops he dropped me off at Mall of America. He told me the next bus would come within 2 hours to go back to Minneapolis. But by then I would miss my connecting bus. I had to spend money out of the Lyft which I did not have. I've talked to you a couple of Supervisors already and email them back and forth and they could not care less. I'm still battling with them. One supervisor told me it wasn't his concern and he could care less. read more

I would caution any parents of college students NOT to use Jefferson Lines for transportation of their children for visits home. My freshman daughter's return route to school was cancelled without notice and it was never reflected on the website. She ended up boarding a later bus for the route and was dropped off an hour and a half walking distance away from her dorm at 1am. I did contact the company and was told they were sorry and would be having a meeting about the incident. I don't want anyone else's child's safety to be put in jeopardy the way mine was with Jefferson Lines. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! The Jefferson Lines bus is a sad excuse for a bus system. If you have another choice to use a different bus, do it. They canceled a bus of mine due to bad weather, and the day came and the weather was perfect out. At this point it was understandable for the company to do this for the safety of the passengers and driver. I called to receive a refund ticket, they said that they would give me a refund for my ticket, what they didn't tell me was that when I signed on using my account that they would add ten dollars to the price tag. Why would they do this if they offered me a refund ticket? I called them to ask about this so I didn't have to keep on spending money unnecessarily, when they are offering the ticket for less to other customers. The call line claimed that it would take "3 to 4 minutes" for the next operator.. Turns out I had to wait 40 minutes for someone to answer and then they said they could not help me. I wish I could give 0 stars. This is the worst company, and should be avoided at any cost. I rode with them on July 15th 2014 from Minneapolis to Kansas City. It was the worst experience I have ever had. For starters here is what was wrong with the bus: The bathroom light did not work, there was no hand sanitizer in the bathroom my seat was stuck in the reclined position for the entire 9 hour ride, the air did not work in any of the personal ducts, so by the end it was extremely muggy the personal lights did not turn on, there were exposed wires all over in the luggage compartment above our heads, holes in various places in the ceiling, the emergency exit had stored up water somehow because it was not raining our entire trip, but every time we took a turn it would drip all over us. When I reached Kansas City I was told I was speaking with the manager of Jefferson Lines, and he gave me the Minneapolis number to call for complaints and I was told I would get a refund, I then called them 6-8 times with never receiving a call back. Then called the national number and was told I would get a call back the next day. I waited 2 days with no call, and called back and was informed they did not have a report of me calling in the first place. Finally talked to someone named Susan Olson, who is an extremely rude, degrading person, who apparently has no one above her that I could file a complaint to. which I believe to be a lie, as she is not the owner of the company. Jefferson Lines has NO customer service!!! My son was suppose to take it from Burnsville, MN to Ames, IA on Nov. 30 @ 6:15PM to return to college. The bus arrived and he was notified there were 3 seats available for the 7 people and the driver allowed people to get on that had arrived after my son. The driver said there was a 12:15 AM bus from Burnsville and the others should be there to take that and we could also call the "customer service" line. We called them and, of course, if as not staffed! We waited from 12AM to 12:45AM and no bus showed. I ended up awaking 4 hours later to take him back to college, a 6 hour trip thanks to Jefferson Lines. They are a joke. A transportation company, running on a schedule, in inclement weather, and they close their phone line? I called customer service that day and was told soneone would call...I'm still waiting! I'm going to have to defend Jefferson Lines here. Out of necessity I got a ticket last week from Duluth to Shawano, WI as I really needed to make the connection. After buying it I read the reviews online and was terrified of what I had signed myself up for. That fear turned out to be entirely ungrounded. I was one of two passengers on my first bus, which was cared for and clean. The attendant at the stop was helpful and friendly, as was the bus driver, who called ahead to the bus I was making a connection with and ensured that it waited until I arrived at the stopover, which made for a perfectly smooth trip for me. The second bus was of equal quality. Bravo Jefferson Lines. Your reviews are bad but your actual experience was a delight. read more

UMD students BEWARE! NEVER TAKE JEFFERSON LINES! I bought a ticket to take me to UMD campus early Sunday and when I arrive to the bus station ready for depart, IT WAS CANCELED with NO notifications to customers! Very UNFAIR and INJUSTICE! I was very upset that I purchased a ticket for the 13th of Jan and when the bus arrived it was full and I was not able to board. The driver couldn't help me at all and told me I needed to wait for the next available bus which was many hours and would now also have a 6 hour layover in Fargo which I specifically did NOT want. When I told the driver this I was told too bad and would need to pay to change my ticket than. Also the depot was not open and being it was about 5 degrees in MN at the time I could not just sit and wait for the next bus to come. I had to find a ride back and than when I called to change my ticket they charged me $10 to do so. How can you sell a ticket for a full bus and than charge me to change my ticket? Jefferson Lines is the WORST bus line I have ever experienced and I've rode pretty much all the midwest has to offer! Their drivers are unprofessional, the customer service reps are RUDE! I'm speaking specifically of the night customer service rep in Fort Smith, AR. The driver I had from there on 4/30/13 was falling asleep at the wheel LITERALLY, long smoke breaks etc.. we got to Kansas City, MO at 12:50 our bus was departing to MPLS at 12:35. Guess what he left us. Had to sit in Kansas City, until the next bus came 7 HOURS LATER! I don't understand how can they leave there own bus! And thats not the only time I recently went from MPLS to AZ jefferson to Grey Hound. I seen multiple ppl miss their connecting bus and have to suffer horrendous layovers the WHOLE TIME WHILE RIDING JEFFERSON! OH WELL CATCH THE NEXT BUS! It's not the customers fault YOUR BUS WAS LATE and they offer ZERO COMPASSION OR COMPENSATION! I AM ALREADY POSTING THIS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, AMONG OTHER PLACES! Go Greyhound, Megabus, FLY! Anything but Jefferson! I would ride a bicycle where I need to go before ever riding with them again. All I see are comments that "commend" Jefferson Bus Lines, but I am here to tell you the service is POOR!!! The customer service is poor, the driver's are reckless, and they speed!!!. I took this Bus service from Minneapolis, MN to home, which is a 2 hour ride and the driver hit 4 curbs along the way, bus leaning, thought we were gonna turn over. And the speeding? I have had much experience with Jefferson Lines with 4 two way trips from Fargo to twin cities area as well as several trips my girlfriend has taken. We have not had a good record with this company. There is an overall lack of customer service (like non-existent) as we have had problems and tried to contact someone about it and not been able to to get through to someone. Last time I used Jefferson Lines my bag was garbed by mistake. I calling the baggage claim to see if the individual had turned in my bag and left as no one was there to answer the phone during normal business hours. I left a detailed message. They promptly never called me back. Ever. Classy. The first time my girlfriend used this service a driver called in sick. Only after waiting at the bus stop for an extended period of time did she relies no bus was coming. She called Jefferson Lines at which point they re-routed her on a 9+ hour bus ride through multiple cities far out of the way to make an easy 2 1/2 hour trip along an interstate from St. Cloud MN to Fargo a nightmare. Over a month ago my girlfriend booked a ticket to come spend the weekend with myself and my family on the only free weekend from school and marching band which happens to be on and around my birthday. The day before she was supposed to leave they sent her an email informing her that the bus route was canceled. There are also no alternative routes or other buses scheduled she could have used. I had to make two four hour round trips to pick her up and drop her off. As a public transportation service this is entirely unacceptable people should be able to rely on their buses coming on time, have simply adequate customer service, and having bus routes that are not canceled for no given reason. read more
