I wasn't disappointed selecting a beautiful cushion cut diamond from them. My fiance had her heart set on a cushion cut and it's hard to find jewelry stores and designers with nice cushion cuts. I'm from New York and I visited plenty of designers in the city but in the end I ended up loving the settings and diamonds from Jean Dousset. A lot of people forget that the diamond is one part of the ring. You could probably yet a custom made setting but I didn't want to go through the headache when Jean had such beautiful options. We ended up going for a solitaire hidden halo in platinum. It's solid, it has weight, and it's symmetrical. It felt and looked like a premium product. The prongs curve and accentuate the diamond. His new design is incredible where it almost looks like there is no basket holding the diamond so that's what we'll probably upgrade to. When I got in the mail it had beautiful packaging. It was months before I proposed and secretly I was staring at the ring everyday haha. Lastly, we had a recent trip to California which included LA so we decided to make an appointment and stop in the office. Jean was there and was actually very funny and down to earth but he definitely had an aura around him like a master jeweler haha. Cartier, this is not. From the time we booked our appointment, it's been dozen back and forth emails that kept referring us back to the website. We finally said just call us instead of emailing so we can have a real conversation. They essentially said, check out our website to see the rings and jewelry because we don't carry very much at the shop. We have a handful of diamonds less than a carat or over 4 ct to see and nothing in between. I don't know if they've gone down since switching to a more commercial model selling man made diamonds but we are underwhelmed. I'm hoping our visit this weekend isn't going to be a waste of time. My fiance worked with Jean to create the most gorgeous sapphire and diamond engagement ring... it was nothing like the standard rings I saw everywhere. It is unique and beautiful. I absolutely love it. It is stunning. It is named the "Kelly" after me... so fun! When my fiance took me ring shopping to get some ideas (and to make sure he was making the right choice! ha ha. Especially since I'm a designer and stylist for clothing and accessories) we went to all the typical LA places... Tiffany, XIV Carats (the worst of our experiences by far BTW), vintage stores, estate stores, etc. about 12 stores in all. No one impressed us as much as Jean though. He's passionate about what he does and he is a great designer. Angela who works with him is also great... she is on top of everything and when my ring was re-sized, she drove it over to me since I couldn't get to WeHo the day it was ready. Great service!
