We didn't need her to do bookkeeping as we did our own but so she could familiarize herself with our company. We weren't going to do my taxes until I received all my 1099's to make sure all the numbers were correct. When I did receive all 1099's I noticed on a reconciliation file from paypal that they were double reporting me and I sent her the files to look at to confirm my suspicions. At first she didn't understand, then I sent another file and a detailed response to her voice mail and another detailed response to her email stating she would just do my tax returns and that's it. By now this is the 3rd day and several hours wasted on trying to get an answer about what I was seeing. I'd been trying to get a confirmation of what I was seeing and she still had not answered my simple question of, were they double reporting some income. She stated that she was too busy to look at the stuff as she was in full swing and didn't have the "bandwidth" to field my questions. One. Simple. Question. I found that when I did talk on the phone she was somewhat rude when she was challenged. As in how dare I tell her she might be doing something wrong. But in the end she never did answer my questions and with all the emails sent back and forth it was very apparent that she had never really looked at the files I sent her otherwise she could have just answered my 1 simple question. You are supposed to be my "tax professional" yet couldn't take the time to answer my question. we are PAYING for YOUR SERVICE, you should answer the questions of the customer who would be paying you, thankfully we didn't go with her. I also had asked for a quote which I got initially and when asked her again a month later to make sure I had the numbers right she had raised her quote by 250$ more than the initial quote and I had to call her on that. We decided that it was best not to work with her and did find a tax professional who spent 30 minutes with me initially, answered my questions and then called me back 5 days later to ask me more questions to clarify things on the returns and books I sent him to familiarize him with my business. A true Professional. Took the time to talk, and answer my questions and then ask more. Even though he was in "Full Swing" of tax season. I can't really recommend this person.

    For the past four years, my spouse and I have used Sue's tax services and have been very…read morepleased--up until this year. For the past two years, we've worked with her remotely after moving a few hours away. Unfortunately, this year was a completely different experience. Despite reaching out over a month before the tax deadline and providing all requested documents, nothing on our file was completed or even reviewed. Given that our returns are very similar year to year, this should have been a straightforward, turn-key process of updating numbers. Instead, we were repeatedly told our file was being worked on when it clearly was not. Her office also does not provide a secure portal or method for sending documents, so we created our own secure Google Drive to share everything. Based on activity, it appeared the documents were never even accessed, which prompted our patient but repeated check-ins, along with periodic emails that were ignored and never replied to. If email communication is not a strong suit, a phone call would have been appreciated--but we never received one and always had to initiate contact ourselves. During one of those calls, we even asked if we should come in person, and were assured it was not necessary and that she regularly handles remote clients. As the deadline approached, we were told an extension would be filed due to timing and the lack of completion due to how overwhelmed they were, however no one reached out to tell us this, we assumed ours would be completed on time. On April 14th, after being on hold for over 30 minutes, Sue finally told us the day before deadline that she was filing the extension while on the phone, collected our personal and banking information, and said she would confirm once it was submitted. That confirmation never came. The following morning (tax deadline), we called to follow up since we had not heard from her as promised. During that call, her admin staff placed my spouse on hold to check with Sue on the status of the extension. While on hold, the line was not muted and we overheard Sue say, "those effing people are a pain in my a**," clearly referring to us. When she came on the phone moments later, her tone was completely different. We were honestly shocked and confused--especially since we had simply been trying to confirm whether our extension had actually been filed after not receiving the promised confirmation the day before tax deadline. She then acted as if she didn't even know we had spoken the day before and told us we were simply on her "extension list." No extension had been filed, and no payment had been processed. On tax deadline, my spouse and I had to take it in our own hands and call the IRS to request the extension and give a best guess payment. Communication throughout this process with Best Team Tax was extremely poor. Emails went unanswered, calls were not returned, and we had to repeatedly follow up just to get vague or inconsistent updates. Staff were polite but unable to provide clear or accurate information. We are genuinely surprised by this experience, given how positive prior years have been. However, due to the lack of communication, follow-through with completing what we were told was being done, and lack of professionalism (cussing in the background, etc) we will no longer be using or recommending these services. Respectfully, we were once happy clients but after this year we are done and now are left to find someone else to do them for us at the last minute. We would have preferred transparency up front, if you didn't have the time or ability to complete.

He told me he'd be available to me to walk me through the application process. It felt like it would be great, Especially because I had no idea what I was getting into when starting my business. I loved the comfort he provided in that initial consult. After a 1 conversation with James Harnsberger, I noticed he was very insistive that I "just fill out the forms". He didn't want to answer any of my question and was aggressive over the phone not making me feel comfortable to ask more questions. After 5 minutes on the call he said "we have to go we have other calls to get to". SMIB was prompt in communicating only when asking for my money and refusing to refund me my full amount. Very other time it took 1-2 days for them to respond to me. I decided that this was not what was promised to me and that we would not work well together. So I asked for my money back. At this point all we have done was exchange email back and forth, nothing was in the works yet. James Harnsberger refuses to refund me my money saying he is charging me $300 for the 5 emails we exchanged and 5 minute conversation we had. I wanted to make this post because I want to help this company get better at servicing clients who need help and guidance around opening a corporation. James, I'm not mad about the $300. It sucks that there's people that do this out there but I can't control that. I know you've helped some people already (I can tell by some positive reviews on here), but this isn't right. I'm wanting to donate my $300 to your company to invest in helping you guys improve your service with clients. Learn from this and strive to help people feel more comfortable working with you. Take time to answer simple questions. Call people back when they ask for your help. Learn to listen. Doing these simple things will help you reach more clients and make a bigger impact for people. Which I know you want to do. P.S. everyone else on this staff was great. Susan was a sweetheart, Allan was great. James is the one who made me feel uncomfortable.

I am so grateful because the IRS was keeping my parents from being able to pay for a place to live and I was glad to figure out the best way to help them. My father is a veteran and is near death and they continue to garnish his disability and we can't find a suitable living situation for him because of it. So thank you thank you thank you.
