From start to finish, my experience with JC Law was extremely disappointing. During my initial consultation, the Senior VP delivered an incredibly polished sales pitch about how effective the firm was. He emphasized that they "didn't need my business" and would drop me if I didn't follow their rules. Ironically, that confidence sold me. Unfortunately, everything went downhill from there. I was first assigned an attorney who was vague, unresponsive, and showed very little fight or advocacy on my behalf. Instead of providing strategy or direction, most of our conversations revolved around reassuring me about how much money I was spending. Midway through my case, he left the firm for "medical" reasons, leaving me in limbo. I was then reassigned to one of their "top attorneys." While she seemed knowledgeable during our initial conversation, communication quickly became a major issue. It was nearly impossible to get updates or even a returned phone call. I often had to call multiple times per week just to get any response. Even worse, I was billed repeatedly just to schedule calls that were frequently missed on their end due to "other obligations." The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism was staggering. To make matters worse, months after leaving the firm--and disputing my bill due to the poor service--I discovered they had failed to respond to critical discovery requests from the previous year. This negligence has left me in a significantly worse legal position, and I've been forced to spend additional time and resources trying to recover from the damage they caused. Overall, this experience was frustrating, costly, and avoidable. I would strongly caution anyone considering this firm to think twice. read more

Not only did these people have to settlement they told me to sign the papers for the day before without telling me the numbers were different. But then when we discussed that this was completely different from the numbers that they had said, and that at least my daughter was getting the amount that we had discussed. But that I was still furious. They didn't even tell me that they have hers as well. These people are super dishonest. read more

In my experience with JC Law I feel that they are predatory and exploitive. It is my opinion that you should be extremely careful when dealing with them. Based on my experiences it is my opinion that they will charge you for everything, even their own mistakes and incompetence. By my calculations I was charged over a thousand dollars for a last minute continuance because the attorney assigned to my case had another case he couldn't get out of that day. IMO you will pay for their lack of organization and ineffective time management. Every time I made a payment to them they seemed to find a way to spend it all and ask for more. I have paid them hundreds of dollars for missed calls and voice mails for unnecessary negotiations and communication that even circumvented the Judges request. They continue to keep trying to charge me after my case has been resolved. they will call you to ask how everything is going and then charge you for that, without answering any of your question. This Law Firm has to be a SCAM, first off they filed an Emergency Order the day before a Pre-Trial, failed to show, failed to communicate to the client, failed to follow the pre-trial order correctly, failed to communicate to client on motions, filed motions not requested, didn't file motions requested, charged for things not requested or was their fault. The attorney don't even know he has appointments. Don't apologize for missed appointments. I have never seen such unprofessionalism and rip-off. The amount of money I paid for them to have accomplished absolutely nothing is a staggering injustice. The worst communication I've ever had from any person in my life, aside from my ex. I agree with with y'all I had a very bad experience with this law firm also. I went there go get a divorce non contested one at that. In July 2024 put $2,500 they eat up the money so fast you receive weekly calls from the financial department to put more money in the retainer. Ms. Michelle Pitts was on my case four months she took off with $5,100 and then they suddenly placed Mr.Parth Panchal on my case he did absolutely nothing but put his name on what was supposed to have been the final M.S.A. they asked for an additional $2000. My husband hired an attorney in November in December she filed for an absolute divorce against me and she wasn't on the case a month. These lawyers are scammers at J.C Crawford..Mr Parth Panchal didn't even know the opposing counsel had filed for an absolute divorce against me I went out the office informe them of it. So I filed a complaint at the attorney grievance office and I'm waiting for a response and since they have drained my account I don't have money to hire an attorney so now I have to represent myself in court. These lawyers at JC Crawford been scamming people for years I have found reviews as far back as 2015. This is a shame! Having this firm, and specifically George VanDuzer, handle my divorce was a one of the worst experiences I have had with any professional service provider. If you want charm and smooth talking, and want to pay a bundle for it, this is the place to go. Wanting to file for divorce and being told this would be simple and inexpensive, I had to wait for 3 weeks at a time between communication - initiated always by me - and then be told "I should be able to get that done later this week or early next." When he didn't know how to proceed, I had to pay for his research time. Eventually, my spouse's lawyer took the lead and not only filed but sent George the forms I would need to sign. My opinion: he did nothing for me. Nothing. Except bill me in excess of $10,000. Then, to close my case, $900 more. Why would I have to pay to close my case. Keep shopping. read more

Stay away from this practice. They are a money pit and they overly exaggerate the time spent handling your case. If they send one email that contains your next court date and time it could easily cost you $100.00. They will not fight on your behalf, they will convince you to settle, in my case 'consent' to a Protective Order. Only after my case was over did I find out that the evidence that they had could have easily been showed that it was a lie. For example - my husband stated that I had contact with him after being served. I talked to him at 6:30am, I wasn't served until 11:30am. If my lawyer (Tim Sutton) had only went over dates and times with me and followed the paper trail it would have reflected this information was inaccurate. Please look elsewhere for services. I needed an attorney immediately and they were the first to call me back. I didn't have to research them. I've spent over $2,000.00 and Tim Sutton couldn't get a win/win for both sides. read more

I hired JC Law for a Guardianship case. But I fired them when I spent $18,587.55 since April 17th, and today total of $20,139, but I saw no real progress. The new lead attorney said it would be over $4,00 this past week, and it was already $3,500 (my budget was $2,000 a week). I had approved $3,000 for week of 6/19/23, but the new lead attorney emailed that she had to keep drafting this weekend, and she couldn't wait for a meeting on Tuesday. I emailed her with examples--$4000 --$6,000, $10,000, a week? I didn't want to dip into money I saved for trial. She didn't respond to my email; in short it was open-ended. It was already too late for her to catch up. Opposing counsel would have 15 days to oppose the motion, adding a 30 day window, totaling 45 days, plus review time, and trial was in 46 days. I had requested the former lead attorney to draft and send one of the documents she was drafting as early as May 15, 2023, and the other in April. I wanted to fire the last attorney before June 23, but didn't because I thought the team would improve administratively, and execute courses of action. I called and left a message for the new lead attorney to call me, which she emailed she would do, but never did. The thousands of dollars for emails, video meetings they scheduled to discuss and rehash the same thing over and over again, and "what has been done," resulted in no measurable progress. The former attorney, who was now assisting, said she'd complete what she started, but she didn't. I paid for "drafting subpoenas, but she didn't send them to witnesses and businesses since April, when I requested them. Second, I had confirmed with the paralegal the contents of a file to be sent for Discovery. Finally, after three or more emails and phone calls, on the third phone call, she was able to confirm with me everything I uploaded, promising to add a couple more files and send it out. But then the new lead attorney emailed me, after she replaced the paralegal with three paralegals to "save" money, saying they are conducting research on the law, and one of them would call me to confirm the contents of the same file the former paralegal had already confirmed, but never sent out. No one called. Third, the last video conference, I requested subpoenas to be sent for a police report. April 14, 2023, I had requested the former lead attorney request it, reminding her in meetings and emails. When she didn't do it, April 26, 2023, I typed the request form and only sent it to her, so she had the precinct and information. I did not put her name on the form, but I put JC law, for her to either edit and sign or create her own form with the information. Her name wasn't anywhere on it. But, she called me and said, repeatedly, in an elevated tone that she doesn't want me to put her name on any form. I was silent, after saying more than once "OK," and she finally acknowledged I said "OK." When she started again, I was silent, and hung up after she called my name several times. The next day, she emailed everyone following our earlier conversation, that I sent a document and used her information--her name, in particular, and the name of the Firm as the requestor, advising me to please not use her name or the name of the Firm to prepare any documents; and, as my attorney, she's responsible for preparing all the necessary documents related to my case. But she never prepared the police request form, or subpoenaed to get the record. Attorney Zachery Groves, kindly, offered a new lead attorney because she was less than pleasant, and I should have changed, but I kept her, later asking to change or make the assistant attorney the new lead attorney, for lack of progress. The assistant attorney was a hard worker, and she was good at pointing out questions and laws for a chart I had created. But when she became lead attorney, she couldn't make any progress either. She couldn't find the police form I drafted, after I told her to ask the former lead attorney for it. I sent her a blank form, and she asked for the report #, and I said they will only give it to attorneys or the record's manager said you don't need to fill in that part. Still, no one sent the form. I sent an Exhibit list of all Exhibits, bate stamped and all. But the new lead attorney asked me to create a table of contents to "save money," and to confirm the contents of a file that the last paralegal and I confirmed, and she had transferred to the expert's file. The new lead attorney prepared a retainer agreement with errors, including misspelling the name of the person needing a guardian. She said she would contact her superior over a disagreement on the law on a VA form. I contacted the VA and her superior. Finally, we agreed on my compromise, which included what VA told me. When she didn't know how to proceed on another aspect of the law, she said paralegals would research. I planned to call the VA lawyer, but fired them for making no real progress and not knowing the law. read more

My first hand experience working with this firm changed my perspective completely. James Crawford, alone, as an individual...is spectacular at balancing extremely complex situations with ease. He deserves and gets much more credit than what I would issue to the firm as a "team". There's a great deal of division between departments. But if your choice is Mr. Crawford, I wouldn't doubt that your situation will receive the necessary attention to get the best ultimate outcome. Being in the insurance business for over 25 years, I've dealt with hundreds of attorneys! This office is by far the worst that I have ever had the displeasure of semi working with. I say semi worked with because after giving a retainer fee of $3000, I quickly decided (one hour later) to not go ahead with their service. I immediately emailed Beth, the billing manager, and requested a refund to my credit card. I followed up over the next 2 weeks with 6 more emails and 2 phone calls, never receiving a response. NOT RECOMMENDED! I usually don't give bad reviews, but I had a terrible experience, the business is fundamentally flawed with poor leadership, and if it saves another person from graying hair and a depleted bank account, then I've done my job. I do NOT recommend James Crawford and Associates. It seems that their policy is to drag your case out as long as possible until you're completely broke. Their attorneys aren't the usual smart, quick, strategic thinkers, but instead, they're highly paid notaries that are terrible at simple copy/paste jobs, and they don't know what to do in court (and that's if they even show up to court, NOT KIDDING!). So if you see the names of other people's children in your examination questions, that's normal at this firm, but last time I checked, I don't have any kids named Jayden. After I was passed off from my first attorney Zachery Groves to Lauren Kamenas, she charged me for duplicated work, she would not respond to my calls/emails for weeks and months at a time, and when she did respond, she was quick to make excuses or blame me for something. She often mentioned that she was working at a discounted rate - I guess to justify her poor service. She once told me that another attorney abruptly left the firm, so she had a much higher work load, maybe that's why she usually came unprepared. It's also interesting that I'd often see "case meeting" on my invoices, but I wasn't privy to these meetings, and nothing was getting done, but hey after those meetings Lauren and her paralegals all had enough money to fill up their BMWs and go get drinks. Zack is the lead Domestic Law attorney there. He was energetic and confident, he knew his stuff. This was the guy I wanted to represent me. Since I was a veteran, a combat-wounded Marine missing both legs after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan, and taking care of three kids BY MYSELF, Zack said he wanted to help me out, so he gave me a discount from the normal rate of $325/hr to $250/hr and asked that I put down only $1500. After over $20,000 and two years later, I couldn't even get Lauren to answer a few simple, time sensitive questions that I had during a phone call. Note that they were still charging me but she refused to answer important questions. She was never a good communicator, and that was only one of many red flags that I should have addressed from the beginning, but trying to balance three kids, work, physical therapy, and disabled life isn't easy. During a phone call with Mr. James Crawford, I wanted to bring these concerns to his attention, however, I was mocked and ridiculed. If I had continued with Crawford's firm, I would have spent well over $30K or $40K. They take advantage of disabled veteran single fathers. They will nickle and dime you for every little thing and they don't communicate to you ahead of time what's going on. If you fire them, they will continue making up reasons to bill you until the judge signs off on their withdraw. They'll call the court and wait on hold for 30 - 45 minutes, and there goes a good chunk of the money in the account you just replenished, so now Beth from Billing will be calling you today to get another payment even though you literally just made one. Just stay away, you were warned. Hire someone else - or, even better - do what I did, figure out a reasonable way to settle your own divorce. You can do it, I believe in you! God bless. I was scared to walk into the courtroom with no representation by my side considering I had fired my former lawyer 4 days before I met the best lawyer I could ever place my eyes on Mrs Jennie O'Hara that works at James Crawford Jr and associates law firm. Not only did Miss O'Hara so generously take me on as her client to represent but she did knowing all she had was 18hours till we are due in the court room for my second degree assault charge. Everything worked out perfectly fine get this all charges dropped only had to pay court fee for that day and I even have it expunged off my record. I truly have not only found a law firm for life but also a friend Miss Jeannie O'Hara was very easy to work with and very informative throughout the whole process. I couldn't believe that I had not only secured representation for my case that was due in front of court in less than 18 hours from then. But I also made a good friend and Miss Jeannie O'Hara. I highly recommended this law firm and the best part about working with J.C law was the fact that they really cared and never once made me feel like a client I felt like family. Plus when it came to the money part where the fee comes in and let me tell you his fee was very reasonable and his payment options were fantastic. My husband and I hired attorney Francis Lanasa of Jc Law & Associates about two years ago to and get grandparents visitation rights. Mr. Lanasa told us that we had a strong case. Mr. Lanasa sent a request to the Montgomery county circuit court and was able to get a case established. After nine months Mr. Lanasa left JC Law without notifying us. We we assigned Attorney George VanDuzzer who took over our case. Mr. VanDuzzer never explained to us the strategy to get visitation. We getting billed about $3,000 a month and we're being told that it is a hard case to win. We knew nothing about the law and believed that he was helping us get visitation. Mr VanDuzzer failed to notify us that the only way we could win the case is if the mother is unfit or the child is emotionally affected in a negative way by our absence in her life. So when the case was tried in May of 2023 we lost the case because we had no evidence that the mother was unfit or that our absence was a detrimental to the child. We ended spending about $45,000 without any benefit. We felt that JC Law was dishonest from the beginning and knew we didn't have a winning case but just was in it for the money. So far I am getting no where with this law firm. I already had 2 continuances and it looks like there will be plenty more because my lawyer is unable to get our court dates on the same days. I know it's a process, but when I contacted and spoke to Zach on my initial phone call he assured me that he has a team that will help me. I was looking for an aggressive lawyer who will take this case serious! And especially with all the evidence I have against the other party! Needless to say I was pushed off on another lawyer who I'm not sure knows the system and when I try to contact Zach, he never answers or he passes me to the same lawyer I been dealing with. At this time I am very dissatisfied with his my case is going and it seems like I will be going to court forever at this point! I could do this on my own if I want to keep running back & forth to court FOR MONTHS! I just want to go to trial, show all my evidence, and move forward on to my next journey that I have to deal with after this case. This has been so stressful & frustrating and to be honest, that's why I hired a lawyer. To take all of this away! I'm doubting if I made the right decision with hiring this law firm. I really dislike leaving poor reviews but had to in this case...I doubt they will care or notice however, this is for the consumer. PAY ATTENTION TO OTHER BAD REVIEWS!!!!!! I would give this place negative ratings if I could. We went in to meet with one attorney with an appointment, were given another attorney who by the way took no notes, and also had a meeting so our consult lasted about 5 minutes. We filled out a sheet of paper with some details that should have given them the basics to file the domestic case which was urgent at that time. A week later an email was sent by the attorney for the basic information needed to file. They entered their appearance with the court and we thought we were off and running, nope. Our retainer had almost expired (2,000), we never even signed a retainer agreement or knew the rates. They forgot to send it, so they billed the remainder of the money changing a name in their form agreement for both capital (not my case) and domestic cases and sent it to me. They bill weekly@ 300-400 per hour. We were in the second week at this point, how many of you make enough to pay that weekly? They billed for EVERYTHING, emails being sent, reading them, and to some extent I understand the time involved in this, but administrative costs for a huge staff and everything they do should not be entirely charged to the client. It looks like a smaller firm, but its not. We expected to pay more overall for the case, but not before the case even got filed. They were fired and we were unable to retain an attorney fast enough to stop the other parent from hurting our rights. If you want protection and someone who actually a) cares about the case and then b) can do the job correctly, this is not the office for you. Unless you can shell out the big bucks for Zachary Graves, I wouldn't recommend this firm to handle your divorce. Lauren Marcari, the attorney assigned to me, filed a motion to withdraw from my case around July 16th and I only found that out after I received an email from the electronic database used to file the motion, only receiving their official letter days afterwards. I met with Lauren on July 25th and it was relayed to me that the reason for withdrawing was because of the funding account. I spoke with her and assured her that the account would no longer be an issue and I will make sure I keep it above the threshold, promptly making a $2600 deposit that day to place the funding account above $3000, assuring Beth that payments would continue coming in. I assumed that the motion to withdraw would be addressed and everything was in good standing and moving forward, but I was wrong. Nothing was done to address it. On Aug 8, the motion to withdraw representation was granted so now I'm stuck without an attorney one month away from my settlement hearing. If the law firm knew that they wasn't going to do anything about the motion to withdraw, we could have discussed a freeze in work and I could stop putting more money into the account. I hired the services of this law firm in May of 2019 and I have heard from Lauren Marcari once in June through email about something concerning my children and once through email explaining that the motion to withdraw was granted by the judge and they are no longer able to submit documents on my behalf. I wish I could truly say that Lauren is a shitty attorney, but sadly, I haven't heard from her enough about my case or what's being done to be able to make that determination one way or the other. I will say for sure that she charges you to supposedly look over documents before filing, but the grammatical and spelling errors in that filing were atrocious and they would have done a better job by just copying and pasting what I submitted to them. My honest opinion is that Lauren's like most attorneys in that they don't really care about your case, she just wants to be able to accrue billable hours. Lauren doesn't communicate with you about what's going on with the case almost at all. She's prepared documents to file without my consultation and then charged me for her to make revisions, instead having me involved to get it right the first time. I am completely unsatisfied with the representation I received from her. I feel like they nickel and dimed me and were doing the bare minimum work on my case. They seemed all about creating billable hours while my needs weren't being addressed and it's sad. This is my livelihood at stake and all I was to them was billable hours. I spent almost 8K already and I am still under the threat of motion to compel by the opposing counsel when I've submitted everything I was able to obtain. Lauren seemed to always wait until the last minute to file responses, leaving no time to correct their mistakes if needed. I was honest from the start about how much I was able to pay every two weeks, so this was avoidable by declining my business from the start if what I proposed was not sufficient, but they heard me saying I will deposit $#### and everything was fine.............UNTIL two week later when it wasn't. I hope this review helps someone make a decision about whether or not to use this law firm because the billing dept. will agree to just about anything if you say you can make a decent deposit. The saddest part about this long drawn out story is that Lauren Marcari was submitting billable hours for looking over and approving documents that were littered with grammatical errors and typos, ex. My wording, "I can care for them when defendant is unable" what was submitted, "I cannot care for them when defendant is unable" This small error could make a huge difference. read more

My Husband and I retained this Lawyer to have him released from the Mortgage, Deed/Title/HOA of his former Martial Home with his Ex Wife...We live in Anne Arundel County, I did not expect them to reopen a case in PG County...But they did and assured Us it was quicker and the best way to go...We retained them on October of 2020, today August 2021, nothing still has been done but thousands of dollars have been spent, that my Husband is in a payment plan with them..Every Monday he receives an invoice and the charges aren't decreasing...Went to court once in June via zoom, prior to a few days before court, they we're threatening to drop him because he wasn't keeping up with the payments as quick as they wanted him too...calling him at work and his cell asking for payment every week...We had to empty our savings account and borrow from our 401K...I even picked up a second job to assist paying them... I don't understand what they charged him for...Over $25K we have given them within a year and he wasn't even represented well in court...they asked for all if this information for discovery and didn't even use it...We asked to have his Ex Wife's credit pulled to see if she could even refi, otherwise, it was a waste of time, giving her a date for something she couldn't even do and paying more unnecessary money...Seems as if they we're working for his Ex WIfe becasue she is ust out here doing what she wants and getting away with it...They didn't even enforce the agreement that was on record which was due last month to the Judge and the Ex Wife and her counsel removed equity that my Husband is supposed to receive if she refi the home...The Lawyer didn't even take the time to read the edits of what his Junior Attorney noted, instead, he just sent it back to my Husband and said this is what opposing counsel sent him, smh...That Junior Attorney has recently quit or left the firm, probably weren't treating her well either...My Husband was billed for a bunch of paper work, emails, calls that we're useless...I felt so guilty pressuring him to go with them...I trusted them and they seemed like good people but they they did not have our best interest at heart...I cried the other day because we're so frustrated...giving so much money that we told them we didn't have and they have done nothing...a couple of unanswered emails to ask of the status and what's going on..CRICKETS....I convinced my Husband to terminate them yesterday and we will just have to start all over with someone else that will take Us seriously...Meanwhile, my Husband is still stuck in a home with a deranged unstable Ex Wife Wife whom is bitter and keeps his daughter away form Us and threatens Us in emails and texts...I would not recommend this firm for Family/custody or any matter but we are still going to pay them what we owe them because it's the Christian thing to do...They will get paid when we have it! read more
