I made the switch to this barbershop a few months back and I don't regret it, here are the highlights: 1. Convenient payment methods, cash, chase quick pay or square 2. TV always on with sports 3. If there are no good sports on or movies, the barbers will throw out random topics and just create conversations. Anything from the best basketball player of all time, who is the tallest, best video game ever,, etc? 4. Option for Walk-in OR Appointment I read the other reviews of guys complaining about the service and side business ventures. Breaking news, if you don't like it,, then fuck off!!!! Pretty great place for clean cuts at a good rate. I've been cut by Danny, Eddie and Robert and all of them have a good sense of what they're doing. The only thing I would change is their customer service and transparency to people like me who were new to South LA and looking for a new barber. It's tight that they're super established in the community, but they're not very savvy when it comes to expanding to new customers that aren't from South Gate. Overall a great place, but if you're a new customer prepare for some bumps until you feel like you get the management. read more

Really great and well established barber shop, I remember when it was established in my 9th grade year in High School. I brought in the promotion voucher and got my first cut, and what I believe to be my first haircut which I liked. A Frohawk with tapers, I remember that week I got compliments like never before. And from then on I kept getting my fauxhawks' here. Alex gets pretty detailed and gives some pretty good results for my pompadour, But the rest of the barbers are just as great, they will suit to a hair cut to give it the closest to what you want hair style. Some didn't know what a pomp was, but I showed them pictures to help them and explained it, but they went beyond and asked every step of the way what I wanted. It seems like they only cut hair to preferred customers. I went to them about 4 years ago. They over charged me. When I came back to let them know about the issue it seemed like the Barber didn't like that I brought it up to his attention. I came back after that to get a another haircut and I was told they were closing when it was only 6pm. Today I come in there is 2 clients getting a haircut and one sitting down. So I decided to come back on my own on a Saturday early morning .The freaking barber shop was empty and was told an appointment was coming in. I waited for 15 min and no appointment came in at that point I decided to leave this place. I should have known better than to try another barber shop. Joe Blo's has always been the spot to go when you wanted a quality hair cut again and again sometimes I would be able to stand the crazy 2-3 hr wait times because the the barbers were always cool guys and the haircuts always came out top notch. But, today is when I call it quits and hope Alex and Robert both go to hell. I called ahead of time made sure he would be able to cut my hair for my sister's wedding and then when I got there asked how many people he had. I waited 3 hours and 6 people got their haircut, my phone died went outside across the street to get the charging cable once I was back Alex said "Sorry bro, I'm going to take my lunch after this guy". Honestly, they know how to cut hair....well at least Robert and the other guy ...but the other two young guys take for ever to cut hair. I guess that's why people still go. The good thing is that this business is booming...but can suddenly drop. The only problem this business has is you HAVE TO make an appointment for service. They force you to make an appointment , unless you want to wait 4-6 hours for a freaking hair cut!!!!!!!! Difference is price, if you want vip service you pay extra, $19, regular wait is $10. Ok, I'm sitting there for 2 hours already it's 1:30pm and the 4 of them are busy...their schedule is full and continue to bombard it with appointments when regular customers are already here waiting for service. Anyways, yeah....3pm comes around and i notice one of them is free at 3:30 so i think i'm gonna be next? well guess what NOT! The idiot goes outside to get one of his buddies and sits him...at this point I just walked out. I wasn't the only person bothered by this. I didn't say anything but there was a guy saying stuff "jokingly"...there goes the business. Another guy said he'd been there since 8am and helped at 2pm lol ...ridiculous. I came here twice, and both times I had to leave because I have no time to be waiting. Don't get me wrong I have the lousy $19.00 for it but why should someone have to go through that?
