I asked her to trim about two inches off. Without asking me or explaining what she was doing, she cut a layer into the middle section of my hair. I have very fine hair that cannot support layers, and because this one landed about midway down, I was left with a frizzy, bowl-cut look in the middle and longer, visibly see-through ends hanging below it -- nothing close to what I asked for. What makes this worse is how avoidable it was. Toward the end of the cut, while she was hacking through these layers, she was busy chatting with her next client instead of paying attention to what she was doing to my hair. Because my first visit with her had gone so well, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and didn't say anything in the moment. The fallout was significant. I had to spend 10 hours researching stylists, booking consultations, and getting corrective extensions -- time I did not have before a major event -- on top of $1,000 to fix what should never have happened. The stylist I ultimately saw for corrections confirmed that my hair type should never have layers cut into it at all. I will not be returning, and I'd urge others with fine hair to be very cautious.

They told me that the henna I have used to strengthen and relax my curly hair had destroyed my hair and that my grey hair would never be a nice texture. That no product would help. I told her that I was desperate for an immediate solution, even an imperfect one while I waited to hear back from her. She said there were none. I decided to look for the L'Oreal product anyways. It was $14, so I bought it. Lost business over $14. The Loreal product is wonderful. My cuticle is closed, and my hair looks the best it has in years. I greatly appreciate the salesperson who showed me where to find what I came in to buy in the first place. I was happy to pay extra to be pampered with a protein treatment. I will find a different salon to do so. I've dealt with enough hair stylists who do what they want rather than listening to what their customer is asking for. The hard sell is not what I needed. This is not how you should get clients. It's a good store. Clean, and well staffed. Maybe just be careful of the folks who will tell you that your hair is a lost cause - it may only cost $14 to fix your problem, but they are selling a service not fixing your issue. Disappointed to find that hair at Ulta is no different than taking my car to the mechanic.
