Upon entering, they had a massive display of Jameson since St. Patrick's is around the corner. They also had a display of a new Grey Goose flavor - Berry Rouge. We walked around and found a big container of the Olive Brine plus blue cheese stuffed olives and pickle stuffed olives by the same brand called Filthy. You can find everything and more at Total Wine - they were even doing a free tasting of BeatBox. I think there may have been beer samples as well - we ended up taking home a Blue Raspberry BeatBox. My only complaint was the slow employee who was ringing everyone up especially on a Friday after work when you just want to get home and make a martini...or two. We'll be back soon!

When you move, one of the low-key stressful questions is: is my new spot gonna hit like my old one?…read moreEspecially when it comes to your go-to liquor store. Prices, selection, vibe--it all matters. I got lucky with Sacramento Liquor. First thing I checked? Prices. Cigarettes--same as my old spot. Beer--consistent. No weird "new neighborhood tax," which I respect heavily because not every store keeps it fair like that. Now here's where Sam stands out. I'm a regular. I'm in there every couple days grabbing a 12-pack, and yeah--daily for cigarettes. When I first moved over, they didn't carry the exact kind I like. I mentioned it once, not even expecting anything... and next thing I know? He starts stocking them. That's not corporate behavior--that's paying attention to your customers. And it's not just me. You can tell this place runs on relationships. People come in from other areas just because they like Sam. That says everything. The vibe is real too. It's not just "grab your stuff and go." We've had conversations about everything--cricket, what's selling, what the store might need next. It's always easy, always respectful, never rushed. It honestly feels less like a transaction and more like stopping by a friend's spot on your way home. Cleanliness? On point every single time. I either see him actively tidying up, or it's obvious he just got done. The store never feels neglected or chaotic. And something I really noticed--because this matters more than people say--it's peaceful out front. A lot of liquor stores deal with people lingering, asking for money, or just creating a tense environment. That's not the case here. There's a park right across the street where people tend to hang out, and there's a clear level of respect for his storefront. No crowding the entrance, no pressure when you walk in or out. It stays calm, and that makes a huge difference. Store itself? Always stocked on the essentials, easy in-and-out, no chaos. It does exactly what it needs to do--and then Sam adds the extra layer that keeps you coming back. If you want a liquor store where: * prices stay fair * the owner actually listens * the space is clean and calm * and you're treated like a person, not a transaction This is your spot. I didn't just find a convenient store--I found my new go-to.
