They have a wider selection of blunt wraps and papers than other liquor stores I find in this area, and they always tend to be on the cheaper side which makes it my go to place for rolling supplies. The liquor, wine, and beer are actually cheaper than other liquor stores as well as I find them to have a decent selection. Often when I come by its pretty busy but the workers are extremely friendly and get you rang up fast. They also do have their own parking lot as well so it's just that more convenient Of course it is a liquor store, but for what I would need in a liquor store they definitely stay with my business.

I popped in for a couple snacks while in the area and was impressed by the selection. Guy behind the counter was friendly. I even saw some items I couldn't find anywhere else (this review written during the current Coronavirus shelter order). I even ended up buying a bunch of things I didn't come in for. Price is a factor, too, and I wouldn't come here first if you're looking for deals. As expected with a smaller store, top shelf liquor comes at (sometimes more) than top shelf prices. It's all offset by the fact that this is a convenience store above all else. The convenience of having so many grab and go goodies just blocks away totally justifies the price difference and also means supporting a local biz!

The staff always go out of their way to acknowledge my son, which means a lot to me. They're consistently sweet, respectful, and attentive -- the kind of people you feel good supporting. The store itself is immaculate. The storefront is clean, well-lit, and welcoming, and the inside is always well-organized and spotless. There's plenty of parking, which is a huge plus in the area. They offer an impressive selection of food, snacks, drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and they even have a wide range of products behind the counter. Whether I'm picking up something quick or browsing for a treat, they always have something for everyone, including a great selection of ice cream. I especially appreciate that their Swisher Sweets are always fresh, never stale -- which you don't always find at other shops. Another thing I want to point out is the safe and relaxed environment. Yes, like many areas in the Bay, you may see a homeless person nearby every now and then, but in my experience, they're generally kind and never aggressive. I'm from San Francisco, so I know what real street issues look like, and this is not that. Some people leaving negative reviews about the homeless presence are, frankly, missing the bigger picture. This store doesn't control who walks by, and it's unfair to hold them responsible for society's larger issues. If someone can't show basic human decency, that's on them, not on Steve's. They're also open early and close late, making it a super convenient stop no matter the time of day. In short, Steve's Liquor & Food is everything a neighborhood corner store should be: clean, friendly, well-stocked, and run by good people. It's the same man working every single time I visit, so I had assumed it was the owner, but maybe not. There are a lot more than those two, but we always find winners when they restock on those. Pacific market also has ice cream bars,snacks, chips, candies, sodas and household items. The staff is always friendly and it's fun to just come in and browse because they tend to stock some fun things. My latest find is Dr. Pepper Coconut, it's been super hard to find but Pacific Market has it as well as some other fun flavors of sodas.

If I could give zero stars, I would…read more We stopped in this evening to buy some juice, and what we witnessed was one of the most unprofessional customer interactions I've ever seen. A young Black man was standing in line, waiting his turn. The clerk, Chris (he loudly identified himself by name during the confrontation), told him to step aside because he was going to help the customer behind him first. The man looked confused and made a facial expression questioning why, but he didn't say a word. When it was finally his turn, he asked for his drink. Chris immediately responded, "Why are you giving me a hard time?" even though the customer hadn't argued or said anything. Chris then asked for his ID, adding that he "didn't have time" because "the cops were just in there." As the customer reached into his sock to retrieve his ID, Chris repeatedly said, "If you don't have it, I can't serve you." The customer placed his ID on the counter without saying anything. Chris then repeated, "I don't know why you're giving me a hard time." Throughout this entire interaction, the customer remained quiet and never became confrontational. My friend, who was next in line, calmly told Chris there was no reason to be so aggressive because the customer hadn't given him a hard time. Chris replied, "I work downtown. I have to be." I then pointed out that the customer had simply been getting his ID while Chris continued escalating the situation. I added, "You get the energy you give." Chris responded by saying, "It's always you people," and then began shouting at us across the store. When we told him that statement was racist and completely inappropriate, he became even more upset. At that point, I told him I no longer wished to purchase anything from the store. As we were leaving, the customer thanked us for standing up for him. No one deserves to be treated with that level of disrespect, especially when they had done nothing to provoke it. What was equally disappointing was that none of Chris's coworkers attempted to de-escalate the situation, correct his behavior, or apologize while he continued yelling across the store. Whether this behavior reflects Chris alone or the standards of this business, it was completely unacceptable. Customers should be treated with professionalism and basic respect. Based on what I witnessed, I will not be returning.
