I've noticed consistent progress in my strength, body awareness, and overall fitness. I have a history of ankle sprains which used to make me nervous about working out, but Keely completely takes that anxiety away. She creates a safe, supportive environment where I can focus on getting stronger without worrying about re-injury. She also has an incredible ability to identify the root of any soreness or discomfort I might be feeling and recommend targeted exercises or stretches that actually make a difference. It's like magic. Except it's not. It's Keely's skills, expertise, and depth of knowledge. Relatedly, Keely is passionate about educating her clients on how their bodies work. I've learned so much about different exercises and muscle groups from her. Beyond her technical expertise, Keely has a bubbly and compassionate personality. I genuinely have fun talking to her during our sessions. She's attentive and truly cares about her clients' progress and well-being. Like I said, my natural opposition to all things physical has sadly prevented my brain from absorbing much of this knowledge permanently but she is undeniably patient with me as she has to repeat what a Bulgarian split squat is for the hundredth time. Thank you for never giving up on me! I started working out with Keely before my wedding in 2021, when my biggest concern was feeling confident in a midriff-exposing dress. Looking back on that time, Keely was truly comforting and helped me recognize and celebrate my strength. I kept going back to work out with her because she helped me understand that working out can be...dare I say it...fun. In addition to the fun, i wanted to maintain healthy ways of managing pain. I struggle with neck pain, tension headaches and migraines. Keely has helped me manage the pain by building and maintaining back strength. She's also imparted a wealth of techniques related to breathing and stretching exercises, which have helped me to get out of my neck in my daily routine. Without her I'd most likely be crying in fetal. Recently after a new diagnosis of TOS, Keely did her own research to offer the right exercise plan to not exacerbate any issues. Her dedication and individualized care for her clients is unmatched. Keely has an incredible ability to make you feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Gyms were closed, I was tired all the time, and honestly my nutrition went to crap. I gained A LOT of weight. At one point in my life I was very close to competing in a show but that didn't happen at that point. It's always been something I've wanted to do. Once I got back in the gym and dialed in the nutrition I lost a lot of weights and gained back my muscle. I knew I still had a lot of work ahead of me and I would do better if I had a coach. I looked at several coaches, local and remote. After I had a consultation call with coach, I knew he was the right coach for me. I could tell from our first conversation that he would be honest with me and he would push me. I have continued losing weight and gaining muscle with his coaching. I've now competed in several shows, done multiple spartan races, and ran my first marathon. I can say with 100% certainty that I am in the best shape of my life and I thank Coach for getting me there. I'm excited to see what we build together over the next year as I transition into a different division. At that point I knew I needed to do something different if I wanted to compete on stage so I hired a professional that came recommended by the local IFBB pro in my gym. From the beginning Fernando not only displayed a level of confidence that was genuine (due to his experience and expertise)but he also is able to pass this confidence on to you as well. I needed this confidence because he nearly doubled my food intake!!! I was so afraid of getting fat again I was starving myself which I discovered once I started following his meal plan. So now I was on a mission to get lean and I was eating more! Best of both worlds! 24 weeks later, checking in every single week, many diet modifications, hitting every workout and cardio session and regularly posing I was able to step on stage at the 2023 Tahoe Show to which I took 2nd in Open Class and 4th in Masters division. A key factor of whether you will stick with an exercise program is the having a frictionless environment. Truve has validated parking at the Hive so you do not have to be driving around in circles trying to figure out where you can park safely and get into the class on time. When you walk in through the front doors, the vibe is very chill so you do not feel anxious walking into class. Most importantly, the other people working in the gym are extremely supportive and will become your community quickly. Having all these things in place makes a fitness routine so much easier to establish. There are even free community classes if that's how you prefer to give this place a try. The instructors are excellent. Classes are capped at 10 for general fitness classes, and three for Pilates. As a result, their instructors can give you abundant corrections and attention so you avoid injuries and develop great form. If you are worried that you don't know how to use a Pilates Reformer, you can hire a private trainer for three classes to learn the ropes like I did. This is the premier gym in Oakland for rehabilitation from injuries. I am a 7 year cancer survivor who has had numerous surgeries. Each time, I've had to fight back to regain my health, strength and flexibility. My last surgery was major, set me back the farthest, and happened during the height of the pandemic; recovery felt close to impossible until I walked through these doors. Not only have I converted fat into muscle, lost weight, gotten so much stronger and gained so much range of motion over 5 months, but I can keep trying new things like TRX Bootcamp that turned out to be fun. Truve's got a wide range of things you can try to keep from being bored. Also, you can go buy fresh baked bread and pastries at Firebrand Artisan Bakery next store or empanadas at Javi's Empanadas caddy corner after you finish your workout. Truve's location is fabulous.

I've used this place as my home gym since 2022, despite the neighborhood I like the place. It is always clean, the staff is friendly and quite honest about how things work (when I vent about other locations). Yes parking is a bit crowded at times but it's ok just park by the McDonald's. Most times when things break they are good to fix things, you find street art every now and then, but for the challenges it has the staff is always on top of their game. I don't give them 5/5 just because it is my home gym, I find this place as a place that's good to train whoever is serving the community by working at this location.

However, I was disappointed to see that starting October 3rd, the gym will no longer be open 24/7, except Tuesday through Thursday. For many of us who work irregular schedules, late-night or very early morning workouts are the only realistic option. Having 24-hour access every day of the week was one of the main reasons I joined Planet Fitness in the first place--it made the membership truly flexible and accessible for everyone, no matter their schedule. I hope management will reconsider and bring back 24-hour access throughout the entire week. It's one of the things that makes Planet Fitness stand out, and it's important for members who rely on those hours to stay consistent with their fitness goals.
