!!BRING CASH PAYMENT THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARD!! This place was an experience I can barely put into words. We messaged them through Yelp and got an appointment for the same day (I have a feeling they do a lot of spontaneous tourist appointments). The girl at the front desk was working on her own tattoo designs and ushered us into a comfortable and well-decorated waiting room. They have an €80 minimum and I got my first tattoo (approximately 3" across) for €100 (way cheaper than back in the States!) plus tip (which I know isn't as much of a thing here but seemed appropriate considering the circumstances) and a more experienced friend of mine got hers (5"?) with shading for €130. The shop was clean and hundreds of designs were displayed on the walls. If you aren't getting tattooed they ask that you stay in the front area but will allow one guest for the person getting a tattoo. But the artist- MATTEL- was just fantastic. He was professional but also acted as a friend- he spoke less English than the girl at the counter but was so helpful and reassuring and held excellent conversation. They were absolutely blasting some classic rock in the back which was appreciated and a good distraction to be honest. They sell the tattoo soap and cream in the store for a little extra and included some fun stickers. However, THEY ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENT IN CASH!!! Bring it ahead of time or the girl at the front will walk with you to the nearest ATM to watch you withdraw it. Overall an irreplaceable experience- I'm very pleased. read more

My girl (brain fart on her name, she's a beautiful red head) worked with me and gave me size options to fit my arm and my price point. I am so long overdue for this review. I went to see Vee in October for my first tattoo. I did a walk in on a Saturday evening and had been told Vee would be the best for the piece I was having done. I met with her a few minutes later and she had me coming back the following day. She took her time planning and adjusted everything until I thought it was perfect. It ended up taking 6 hours and she kept me as comfortable as she could the entire time and offered breaks and food! The piece itself turned out beautiful and healed even nicer. I was visiting my grandma's hometown when I got this piece and I wish I could go back to Vee simply for her work. She did an incredible job and I couldn't have chosen a better artist for my first and most sentimental piece! read more

My experience here was very good!! I got my tattoo in early October from Roska. The receptionist- I don't remember her name- was very helpful throughout the whole process. The fist time I went to Jay Lester Tattoo, I talked to Roska and the receptionist about what I wanted. I just gave Roska the prompt "bee related" and I love what I got! I spontaneously decided to get a nostril piercing and while the slight language barrier made getting care instructions a little hard, I just went with what I've done for all my other piercings and it's healed nicely. The resident piercer was either off that day or on vacation, but someone was called in and did my piercing. It was very cheap compared to where I live in the US. I'm sure that it made things frustrating on their end that I didn't speak any Italian, but I felt taken care of and the receptionist and I muddled through. Another artist, Simone, I think, came and talked to me during my tattoo and was very kind overall. I would definitely go back in a heartbeat! My experience at Jay Lester was phenomenal. All of the staff were extremely friendly, they took a pretty last minute appointment from four of us visiting from the US on our last day in Rome. MercurioCromo translated for us perfectly and bridged the language barrier and made us feel comfortable and welcome. (I forgot her name I am so sorry! Short pink hair!) helped us book the appointment and handled the money and she was very welcoming. My friends had custom designs drawn on the spot by Emiliano. They love them. They all joked with us and made sure we didn't feel left out not knowing any Italian. For my tattoo, I had the artist Matteo Er Grossi. He showed gratitude and excitement for choosing his flash design - he explained how he was happy I chose it and put 100% into making it perfect from placing the stencil to using various sized needles to get the details right. In total 4 of us spent several hours hanging out in the shop and had a great time. We would all definitely come back and we hope to. Oh! And the prices were unbelievable. We got there and they were all very patient with us and even asked us our budget, we were so very grateful for that since we were traveling from abroad and had that option for tattoo artists to work with and around us.
