I really have an eye for detail, and so I couldn't help but be disappointed in some of the makeup and hair offerings by a lot of the local wedding vendors. But then I found Jax! (And Olivia, but that's a separate and glowing review.) Jax was great. She wanted to make sure that I LOVED her artistry before having me sign a contract. I found Jax Studio via The Knot. They have been EXTREMELY responsive since the moment I contacted them, usually answering in less than an hour! I was able to book my trial run the week of with Dani, a junior artist. She was AMAZING. Since I am really big into makeup and know exactly what I was looking for, I felt bad for being so picky. This was no problem for her; she welcomed me with open arms, attending to every request I had. After the makeup application, she took pictures with a ring light to see if there were any changes that needed to be made. She was able to tweak a few things upon my request. I feel like I dodged a bullet by not having her team booked for my hair & makeup experience. She was RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL, & throwing shade at me for no reason. I was nothing but polite and professional in my conversations with her. Back story: My wedding is in February 2021. Back in May 2020 I started doing my research to find hair & makeup for a party of 9. Of course I wasn't ready to book yet because I wanted to do all of my due diligence before making a decision since I know the pricings aren't exactly affordable or cheap. On top of that, I know that not everyone has had experience with Asian makeup and I didn't want to end up looking like a ghostly bride like my friend did. Upon first encounter with her, we communicated via email and then telephone. I asked her to send me some pictures of her previous Asian brides and she texted this to me. So I assumed it was ok to communicate with her via text. I was never told that this was her personal cell phone number and she didn't like to be communicated through there or if there was a different method of communication that she preferred. After a thorough phone call which I appreciated, I'd asked a few more questions via text in which she replied thoroughly. That was the end of it because I had issues with my venue and we were unsure if our wedding was still even happening. We ended up changing venues... and finally decided in a new place in August. So August 21st I reached out to her again to see if she was available, in which she informed she was not but her senior artist was. I was hesitant, but I trusted that it would still be beautiful due to all of their glowing reviews on multiple platforms and from my understanding her artists train under her as well. I had a few more questions & asked bc I wasn't sure if I'd asked before yet. She replied and provided me w info again which was nice. I then told her I will talk it over with my girls and reach back out to her. I then reach back out 9/9/20 to ask her what her policies were in regards to postponements since I've talked to my fiance and we may postpone, but will not decide until November. Instead of giving me a reply in regards to her policies, she comes back with "Postpone? You've yet to book an appt." Which I was a little taken a back, but disregarded because I was still interested in her services, but I guess still try to be empathetic because she may be frustrated...? So I went ahead and explained my situation to her in which she didn't even bother to reply. On 9/11/20 evening I reached back out and said "Hey Jax, haven't heard back from you. Is your artist still available? If so can you tell me your policies?" She still didn't reply... Then on 9/12/20 evening she comes back with "I don't think I can earn your business. 37 texts and yet I can't seem to get you to want to move forward in booking. This is my private line, my cell, I have tried to answer every answer on demand, yet you won't move forward. I think we are not the right fit, thank you for your interest, we'll pass. Best of wishes on your big day And to answer your question, we would have transferred your deposit once to a new date. I hope you find the team for you. We wish the best in all your selections of vendors..." So I'm not sure what triggered her to throw shade at me with the whole "we'll pass." Is she saying that I'm not allowed to ask questions and due diligence? Am I obligated to book if I am communicating with the vendor to gain information before making a commitment? I never asked her to hold a date for my wedding. I understand that in order to do so, it will require a deposit. Why is she upset with me when she used her cell to communicate with me and send me pictures of her previous brides instead of an email platform. This could have easily been resolved if she informed me that she prefer to be contacted through a different platform instead of her cell phone number. She mentioned on demand... I've never pushed her for a reply at all... if anything it took 2 days of not hearing back from her for me to reach out again. read more

I was absolutely floored by my experience working with Jax. My first impression was that she was incredibly friendly, caring and honest. She's very professional and her studio is beautiful. She taught me some really cool secrets to applying makeup that hold up, even under the harsh criticism of our HD world. Not only will she do an incredible job, but if she does not answer when you call her for an appointment because she is performing miracles on a client, leave a message on her cell and be assured she will respond quickly. She did the makeup for me, my daughter and her bridesmaids this past Saturday when Twirl messed up on their customer service. When I came across Morgan's Instagram while planning our wedding I knew I HAD to have her! Her work is incredible and her pricing very reasonable. She requires a trial but you will not regret it! When I walked into my trial with only a vague idea of what I wanted, she encouraged feedback which helped narrow down what it was I wanted for my big day. She is so sweet, personable, and was so accommodating when we had to postpone and reschedule our wedding due to COVID-19. When we finally got our day, she and her assistant Candace showed up on time with all the gear needed to transform our hotel suite into a salon.
